[Welcome to the Land of Innocence, Orderly Good Mor, I wish you a good night]
...
Caselo Prairie, in the southern part, Diesel Family territory, Twin Lions Fortress guest room
This was only the umpteenth time Mo Tan had woken up in a real castle. After quickly gathering his thoughts, he swiftly rolled out of the soft bed, supported his chin, and began contemplating the ’Monster’ detained in the small tribunal of the City of Light.
Though many doubts still lingered, he somehow developed an inexplicable premonition.
When Cordova volunteered to stay and watch over the cell, a certain ’truth’ seemed to draw ever closer to him.
But strangely, this did not bring any relief to Mo Tan; on the contrary, it made him even more uneasy.
It was definitely not because of a timid personality. Setting aside the ’Hei Fan,’ who had achieved Absolute Neutrality, whether it was his currently Orderly Good persona or his Chaotic Neutral persona, both had extremely resilient psychological strength. So if one had to explain his current mood, the only fitting description would be ’intuition.’
This was not unfounded. Under certain circumstances, Mo Tan’s intuition as an Orderly Good character proved to be incredibly reliable, a defining trait of ’Mor.’ In the many events his character had experienced, whether in battle or daily life, his ’intuition’ played a significant role. It was a kind of sixth sense that everyone supposedly has, nowhere near as mystical as it may seem, but still significantly better than the kind that ’activates only when observed by others.’
Overall, his ’intuition’ was still within normal bounds, at most slightly more reliable than that of ordinary people and his other two personas.
As for someone truly exceptional in this regard, he had indeed met such individuals, like Kanglan, whose intuition was so accurate it bordered on the monstrous, evident from the short interaction of less than two days during the New Year period.
Of course, these thoughts were his own; no one took them seriously, nor did they consider them.
Even Yi Dong, who knew most of his secrets, was unaware of the part of Mo Tan that had long been sealed away.
This was not because Mo Tan was withholding anything from his childhood friend and confidant; there simply was no need to mention it. When that part still existed, telling the then equally child-like Yi Dong was utterly useless other than potentially causing unnecessary panic. And once it had quieted, there was even less reason to make a friend worry unnecessarily.
If a third point must be mentioned, it would be ’completely indescribable.’ Even now, he had no idea what that side of him was thinking.
Strangely enough, despite sharing memories, the only time he couldn’t perceive ’his own’ psychological activity was when reflecting on things related to ’that side.’ Rather than remembering what he wanted to do, it felt more like watching a silent black-and-white video on a computer, or reading a poorly written novel devoid of any psychological or emotional depth.
You know what he is doing, you know what he has done, but you never know what he can do, what he wants to do, and this was what terrified Mo Tan the most.
Though he now disliked his Chaotic Neutral self, he could still clearly recall his thoughts and plans as ’Tan Mo,’ because in the end, those actions and thoughts were still his own, as ’Mo Tan.’ But for ’that side’...
"Heh, at least back then I still knew what ’I’ had done."
Mo Tan chuckled bitterly, looking down at his hands now partly covered again with scales, and sighed deeply, "Now it’s gone, the eyes aren’t seen, it’s troubling."
The very next second, before he could even finish his sigh, a gentle knock came from the door nearby, and a steady, respectful voice called from outside, "Mr. Mor, are you awake?"
"Please come in, Mr. Lampert."
Mo Tan slipped into his boots and tidied up his barely disheveled clothes, standing up and addressing the door as he did so: "I am already awake."
"I’m glad to see you so spirited, Mr. Darian had already instructed us that you could commence rehab exercises at any time. Oh, and by the way, this is the new sword crafted especially for you."
A tall orc man entered, wearing a set of light armor emblazoned with the Diesel Family crest. His sleek pomaded hair was immaculate, and although a five-centimeter scar stretched across the bridge of his nose, it did not make his overly-kind face seem fierce.
This man was Lampert Restreid Diesel, born to a collateral branch of the Diesel Family, right-hand man to the current family head, Darian Diesel. Despite his outward appearance, he was a man of delicate skill. Over the years, he had helped Darian manage their domain meticulously, directing everything from the eastern ranch business to the adolescents’ coming-of-age ceremonies, always actively involved in every aspect of the domain. His dependability and diligence had helped reverse the declining fortune of the Diesel Family and put it back on the right track, being responsible for various affairs throughout the territory.
