Chapter 965 - 444: Guxiaole_2
The trio belatedly looked in the direction where the Paper Egret had been fluttering above, only to see that the mutants that had occupied that area were now downed, creating a rather narrow pathway.
As for the sides of the pathway... there were still dense crowds of mutants, but they seemed to have lost all desire to attack.
"Sister Xiao Le, you’re amazing."
The girl with chestnut brown hair sincerely admired, then hesitantly asked, "But, um... since that bird could defeat so many monsters, why not kill off all the monsters in this... ’Ghost Realm’?"
It was apparent that the girl was quite sensible; even though she had long wished to leave this truly ’ghastly place’, she still posed her question from a perspective that considered the bigger picture.
After all, the three of them could see that Guxiaole seemed to have an extraordinary advantage in this place called the Ghost Realm, and eradicating all nearly two hundred mutants within the area would undoubtedly be beneficial for the allied forces.
"Xiao Xue number two is still not mature, it can only do so much, look, time’s up."
Guxiaole shrugged her shoulders, and then the increasingly stiff paper bird rapidly burst into flames out of nowhere, eventually turning back into a piece of yellow paper filled with strange characters floating back into her hand.
The orc warrior frowned and hoisted his hammer, "Then what if we kill them ourselves? Since these monsters aren’t reacting at all right now, it wouldn’t take long to..."
"No, there’s no time left."
Guxiaole shook her head and took the lead towards the front lines, saying without looking back, "My control over the Ghost Realm will last at most two more minutes. If you’re not afraid of being killed by those undead when it disappears, then don’t follow me back. Stay here and have your fun killing."
The three behind exchanged glances and immediately started jogging to catch up with their increasingly mysterious teammate, moving swiftly and efficiently.
"Um, Sister Xiao Le~"
The petite girl, seemingly a bit of a chatterbox, bounced along behind Guxiaole, asking curiously: "I heard you call that bird Xiao Xue number two just now, does that mean there’s a Xiao Xue number one too?"
Guxiaole didn’t seem to mind chatting with everyone outside of controlling her ’skills’, so she nodded and smiled, "Yes, there’s another ’Xiao Xue’, but due to reasons that are at least two worldviews away from you, I can’t summon it here."
The human girl with chestnut hair also leaned in curiously, "Is that Xiao Xue the same as the one just now, Xiao Xue number two? Just as powerful?"
It was clear that the Paper Egret’s ’killing speed’ had left a lasting impression on her.
"Well, how should I put it..."
Guxiaole tilted her head to think, then spread her hands and said, "If that ’Xiao Xue’ were here, even ten thousand of these shoddily made trash zombies wouldn’t be enough for half an hour’s feast."
"Ten thousand?!" The orc warrior at the back was flabbergasted, stuttering, "Really... for real?!"
Guxiaole smirked mischievously, "You guess~"
...
Two minutes later
"They’re out."
Feather Song stood behind Hei Fan and spoke softly, her eyes fixed on the distant edge of the pale white fog, where several faint silhouettes were becoming increasingly distinct.
"I see them."
Motan nodded slightly, pondered for a few seconds, then asked in a low voice, "They are..."
"Bao Si Blackhand, Ellice Morning Cherry, Luo Luo Barnes, the Great Yin-Yang Master, Guxiaole – they are all part of the third combat sequence, and they are also members of the observation team for the second phase of the Requiem, special observation zone S15."
Feather Song responded without hesitation, although she didn’t possess Motan’s monstrous memory, her backpack was filled with a good two and a half pounds of allied forces data, which she had started checking as soon as the eerie white fog had risen, like a secretary devoid of emotion.
"I understand."
Motan nodded, took a quick survey of the surrounding battle conditions, and after concluding that ’the current situation is still stable,’ meaning there shouldn’t be any massive routs in the near future, he said softly, "Have two squads from the left flank go support them, and if possible, ask that Great Yin-Yang Master to come to me."
"I’ll arrange it right now."
"You’ve worked hard."
Motan smiled at the considerate secretary who was sticking close, aware that the other’s dedication was mostly due to the contribution to the world task and various post-war subsidies and benefits, but still very grateful to Feather Song.
Thus, the emotionless secretary immediately set to work arranging it and stated that it would take no more than five minutes to bring the person over.
Meanwhile, Motan stepped into the range of the amplifying magic once again, doing his best to issue various commands to the frontline mixed with three combat sequences, racking his brain to reduce casualties.
Although, in such a head-on confrontation, the role of command had been minimized, he had not slackened at all. Occasionally, he would rush to the frontline just like he did at the Deer Hill, organizing a group to quench the fire, far from the typical image of a Commander.
"The group of Thieves on the right flank, you’ve pushed too far forward, withdraw immediately!"
"Those drum-beating Shamans, stop for a moment; if you have spare energy, drop a few Earth-binding Totems at seven o’clock!"
"Brothers at the first tier position, hold on a bit longer; you don’t need to attack, just holding your ground there is enough!"
"Mages with remaining energy, flank to the sides and target those in the back, the next wave’s impact will be too strong otherwise; don’t use flame magic, prioritize ice magic with slowing effects."
"Someone find Luna, tell her to bring the Alchemy Workshop from the back immediately!"
"Hey, those Rangers..."
"Good, this position can be relinquished..."
"Hold on a little longer, guys, it’s almost over!"
...
Three minutes later
Feather Song returned to the temporary command post with a player named Yin and Yang Master Gu Xiaole, who didn’t look like someone who had just broken through hundreds of Mutants. The robe he wore, split at the collar by the Yin-Yang symbol, was neither black on the left nor white on the right, without a trace of blood, not even a speck of dust.
"Hello."
Motan, who had just used two Magician squads to stealthily take out a group of Mutants, took a deep breath, stepped back from the range of the amplifying magic, turned to Guxiaole with a smile, and said, "I’m Hei Fan, and like you, I’m a player."
The latter blinked, a mysterious smile curving at the lips, chuckled lightly, and said, "My name is Guxiaole, honored to meet you, Hei Fan."
Motan didn’t notice the abnormal tone in the other’s voice and just nodded, then went straight to the point and asked, "The mist that just now... um, it must be some kind of magic that stops the Mutants in their tracks, was that your doing?"
Guxiaole giggled, openly admitting, "Yes, are you asking for my help?"
"That’s one way to put it."
Motan glanced back at the still deadlocked battlefield and spread his hands, "The situation is critical right now. If possible, I hope you can quickly explain your skill system and some details to me. If they fit the situation, they might be surprisingly effective."
Guxiaole blinked, but instead of responding to Motan, she turned to Feather Song and said, "Would you mind stepping aside for a moment?"
Feather Song was stunned for a moment, casting a probing glance at Motan, and then left with a few Guards upon receiving a confirming nod.
For some reason, Feather Song, with her unusually keen sixth sense, felt there was something... indescribably weird about that girl.
Half a minute later, only Motan and Guxiaole were left, and then...
"Long time no see, Tan Jiang. I was really surprised when I realized you were Hei Fan!"
Guxiaole snickered as soon as Motan was about to speak, staring gleefully at the latter who was completely flustered, her laughter filled with nothing but joy...
"Do you still remember Sister Xiao Le from back at the big warm pot?"
