Chapter 1343 - 617: Robbery (I)_2
Smith twitched the corners of his mouth and forced a laugh: "If only you were always this thoughtful."
"I’m always thoughtful, thank you very much!"
Autumn Moon wrinkled her nose, then turned to Motan and blinked: "We are students from City J, how about you?"
"City B, a current university student."
Motan casually responded, then curiously asked: "Are you guys classmates?"
"Ajiong and I are in the same class, Ming Shen is in class six."
While studying the crystal clusters on Wang Badan’s shell, Autumn Moon answered, "Old Tree is in class nine, Pomegranate is a year senior to us, not sure about her class, but we’re all in the same club."
Motan nodded slightly: "So, your club is..."
"The ’Love-to-Crowd-Around Club’, though we’re registered as a reading club because the teacher wouldn’t approve otherwise."
Autumn Moon frowned discontentedly, but her mood brightened instantly, and she proudly put her hands on her hips: "It’s just a name though. Under my brilliant leadership, that classroom has been completely transformed into the headquarters of the ’Love-to-Crowd-Around Club’! From board games to maid costumes, we have it all!"
"Hmm..."
Pomegranate shrank her neck, as if recalling some unpleasant memories.
"Actually, it’s all just useless stuff."
Smith sighed helplessly, then turned and gave Ming Shen a glance: "Although I don’t really mind, aren’t you, as the current president of the reading club, going to stop Autumn Moon from turning that place into a mess?"
"It’s fine."
Ming Shen shook his head slightly, tone even: "As long as there’s a place to read, it’s good."
"It’s noisy, though."
"It’s fine."
"You really don’t mind? If you want, you can just tell Autumn Moon, even if she doesn’t listen, I can help."
"Hmm, I don’t mind."
"Okay then..."
Smith raised his eyebrows at Motan and spread his hands: "That’s pretty much the situation, you can think of us as a somewhat bizarre student group."
Motan smiled, although he very much agreed with the description ’bizarre’, he still warmly said: "Sounds interesting."
"Right! It’s super interesting! Ajiong, you’re just too narrow-minded, even Ming Shen is more enlightened than you!"
Autumn Moon made a face at Smith, then hugged her knees and looked excitedly at Motan: "So, are we going to patrol now?"
Before Motan could reply, Smith shook his head hastily: "Were you even listening when we were assigned tasks before? Our two adventurer teams have fixed night watch spots, patrolling is up to the caravan side."
"What, that’s boring."
Autumn Moon immediately lost her enthusiasm and lazily leaned against the crystal clusters on Wang Badan’s shell, waving her hand: "Then Ming Shen and Pomegranate can go back first, Ajiong can stay and play ’Wang Ba’ with me."
Smith chuckled dryly and said in a low voice: "But I don’t really want to stay here and play ’Wang Ba’ with you."
Pomegranate looked at Autumn Moon with concern and softly suggested: "Well... How about I take the first night watch, Autumn Moon? You’ve been tired all day... why don’t you go back and rest a bit?"
Motan noticed a sudden flicker in Smith’s otherwise dull eyes.
But then...
"No need, go back."
Autumn Moon shook her head absently: "I’ll go back with Ajiong after I’m tired of playing, if we are not tired, we’ll keep on guarding. Either way, we don’t need to sleep, so switching shifts doesn’t really matter."
The light in Smith’s eyes dimmed again.
"Alright then."
Pomegranate didn’t insist further and gently tugged at Ming Shen’s hand: "Then we’ll go back first."
"Okay."
The latter nodded and promptly turned to leave.
"Wait a moment!"
However, Motan suddenly called out to the two, quickly running up to Pomegranate, who seemed relatively easier to talk to: "There’s something I need to tell you..."
The girl first shuddered subconsciously and then nodded timidly: "Okay, you speak."
Five minutes later...
"That’s probably the situation. Although it’s just my guess, it’s still better to pay a little attention, because caution drives a long ship."
After finishing speaking about something he cared about, Motan nodded to the four people beside him, including Autumn Moon and Smith: "What do you all think?"
"This... It seems very reasonable..."
Smith kept nodding while stroking his chin.
"I know... I will be prepared!"
Pomegranate pursed her lips, her expression very solemn.
"Hmm."
Ming Shen was succinct.
"Seems like it’s going to be fun!"
Autumn Moon clapped her hands excitedly and concluded.
...
Game Time AM03:45
Parsell Avenue, south side of the caravan camp
Pars High Furnace, keeping watch on the second night shift, was sitting on a large rock, hugging his staff that seemed blackened from barbecuing and watching the distance, while the deputy captain and the priest from the Black Mountain Goat adventurer team kept guard on either side of him. The positioning of the three was very strategic, almost covering the majority of the area directly south of the camp. Along with two members of the T-Rex Team also keeping night vigil on the south, they could protect up to ninety percent of the area within a radius of several miles. Unless the attacker was lucky enough to completely avoid the guarded area of these experienced mercenaries, they would definitely be spotted before they could even mount an ’assault’.
Yet the three from the Black Mountain Goat adventurer team still did not relax their vigilance, including Pars High Furnace, everyone was highly tense.
"Lorient and Thicktooth..."
Pars took out his usual wineskin, gulped down a mouthful of water with a slight alcohol taste, stroked his chin and asked earnestly, "They should have reached the southwest watch point by now, right?"
The deputy captain of the Bear Goblin, carrying a large sword, nodded emphatically: "Considering the time, they should have almost arrived."
A series of snores came from not far behind them.
"Haha, Bill is sleeping rather soundly."
Pars turned and looked back at his campsite, where three of the recently relieved first-shift Night Watchers were wrapped in blankets and sound asleep by the fire, amongst them one blanket-concealed snore was particularly loud.
The Dwarf Priest to his right chuckled and shook his head: "Being able to sleep peacefully amidst his snoring is truly sleeping soundly."
"Yeah, makes sense."
Pars stroked his uneven beard, looked up at the moon surrounded by several dark clouds, and took another sip of slightly alcoholic water.
...
Half an hour later
"Someone!!!"
Pars’s powerful roar nearly awakened everyone in the camp, as he swiftly danced with his staff atop the huge rock, summoning several small demons burning with black flames from the void, then with a fierce rub of his hands, he unleashed a torrent of dark green demonic flames towards the unwelcome guests not far away.
Unfortunately...
The keyword is ’not far’, not ’unwelcome guests’.
Since everyone was always on guard against bandits possibly jumping out at any moment, no one had let their guard down, thus ’unwelcome guests’ is somewhat of an exaggeration, but ’not far’ spelled big trouble.
When Pars first spotted the group quietly approaching the caravan camp under the cover of night, they were less than twenty meters apart.
Twenty meters, a distance attackers couldn’t be more satisfied with!
"Argh argh argh!"
Two intersecting beams of blade light flashed, and the few small demons just summoned by Pars fell to the ground spurting fresh blood and wailing in pain.
"Child’s play."
The leading Slaughterer, dressed in a black tight suit, sneered coldly, his steps deftly sidestepping the incoming demonic flames and with a swift kick, sent Pars, who was about to cast another spell, tumbling off the rock.
"Robbery!"
