Four Split Personalities

The brutal elemental torrent tore a deep pit into the earth with reckless abandon, ’scrubbing’ the three square meters of soil relentlessly. The frenzied and searing flame nearly consumed all the air, while the Earth Elemental Puppet’s fists, akin to miniature siege hammers, kept pounding down. The dull purple thunderclouds hung less than three meters above the ground, hurling down bolts of lightning as thick as a well’s mouth every few seconds. Amid the deafening roars, they plunged downward, merging into the rampaging turmoil of elemental frenzy.

Without need for a medium, without gestures, without incantations, Double Leaf merely stood there with her hands behind her back, quietly creating a living purgatory akin to a forbidden zone of life. In front of her terrifying ability to control magic, every element within her sight, even the notoriously difficult-to-control lightning element, bowed down and submitted to her will.

Even though, in the real world, she was nothing more than a physically frail girl with an exceedingly developed mind, extremely simplistic limbs, and slightly underdeveloped physical growth—her combat prowess even weaker than a goose—in The Realm of Innocence, Double Leaf was far from fragile as a Mage, her chosen main career. On the contrary, she was not only sturdy but could also perfectly wield one of the most destructive forces in this world: magic!

As the first player in the entire game to crack the "Magic Power Universality" worldview atlas, Double Leaf had never stopped honing her abilities with a conscious effort to strengthen herself. In the time after she explained "Magic Power Universality" to Mo Tan, she subsequently unlocked the "Same Element Division Theory", "Single-Structure Techniques Augmentation Theory", "Complex Array Reverse Analysis Theory", "Cross-Rank Spell Overclocking Formula ⑦", "Cross-Rank Spell Overclocking Formula ⑨", "Magic Power Framework Reconstruction Theory", and "Magic Power Framework Reconstruction Theory•Advancement". The first three were summaries of her own findings before setting off for Sālāmù’ēn from the Fire Claw Territory. The two cross-rank spell overclocking formulas were a combination of extensive research and personal insight once she arrived at the Sālāmù’ēn Mages’ Guild branch. As for the last two theoretical advancements in magic power framework reconstruction, Double Leaf unlocked them under the guidance of her mentor, Ana Ta Lasha, after being taken as an apprentice.

And when the "Magic Power Framework Reconstruction Theory•Advancement" was added to her worldview atlas, not only did her knowledge surge by 15 points, but she also gained the higher-tier profession of "Magic Controller". She lost the thirty-some elemental spells she had already learned, leaving her skill column exceptionally clear, with nothing left but "Magic Controller".

But by then, Double Leaf no longer needed those so-called ’skills’. The reason was simple: if every spell equaled a magic formula plus one or several corresponding models, and the normal process for a Mage player to use a skill was essentially copying and pasting various formula models to materialize them—then Double Leaf, now versed in an abundance of virtual knowledge exclusive to The Realm of Innocence, could craft her own formulas and draw her own models using the "Magic Controller" skill.

This was a domain not even her mentor, who was proficient in all attributes, had touched!

"Well honestly, this is way easier than coding~"

That was Double Leaf’s response after her mentor revealed an expression akin to having seen a ghost.

The truth is, most players, even after stumbling upon the "Magic Controller" profession by chance, were utterly incapable of unleashing the full power of the "Magic Controller" skill. The reason is simple: anyone can copy and paste; using a Fireball is no different than pressing ’Ctrl+C’/’Ctrl+V’. However, asking an ordinary person to write their own formulas and draw their own models based on their understanding and knowledge—well, that could drive someone to quit the game...

But Double Leaf was no ordinary person. Keep in mind she was the first in this book thus far to independently develop an artificial intelligence program—a talent of monstrous proportions. Maneuvering such a skill closely related to her field truly didn’t present much pressure.

Of course, she did encounter bottlenecks. Suddenly having to switch from copying and pasting to arranging everything by herself definitely met with some initial discomfort. Hence, the first time Double Leaf used "Magic Controller" to cast the Fireball Technique, it took her a full thirty seconds... and following the success of that Fireball Technique, she instantly cast a Fire Blast Technique surrounded by three swirling Flame Dances.

Indeed, her so-called bottlenecks lasted no longer than the half-minute it took to cast a fireball.

After that, the growth rate of the Double Leaf character exploded at an indiscernible speed. She often practiced in the arena to hone her combat skills, and by today, she had reached the fifteenth spot on the player overall strength rankings. Able to cast over fifty mid-to-low-rank spells, she had also developed a plethora of spell combinations that were either cost-effective, targeted, or immensely powerful. Even disregarding her player status, she was considered a prodigious Mage with immense potential, an individual who with proper guidance might even advance to a Sage before the onset of wrinkles.

Talent, intelligence, acuity, decisiveness, tenacity... and ruthlessness—she possessed nearly all the qualities necessary to become a powerful being.

Especially the ruthlessness!

And so, at this particular moment, without a hint of hesitation after successfully plotting against Jiawen, she unleashed her strongest assault. She first summoned the Earth Elemental Puppet with massive physical attack power in the shortest amount of time possible, then she continuously directed two different kinds of magic: the "Flame Dance", which had a wide attack range and added numerous negative statuses, and the "Roaring Thundercloud", extremely powerful against a single target.
