"Come on, the washroom is this way." Once the squad leader left, Brother Glasses led them to wash up.

"Brother, what’s your name?" Little Tang Mo realized he hadn’t asked Brother Glasses for his name yet.

"My name is Mu Haoye. You can just call me Brother Haojie," Mu Haoye said, pushing up his glasses.

Little Tang Mo blinked. The name "Haojie," which meant ’hero,’ seemed a little at odds with the man himself.

"Brother Haojie, did you sleep well last night? Won’t your family be worried if you don’t go home?"

Mu Haoye had also stayed the night, but he slept in the men’s on-call room next door.

"It was so-so. I called them, so it’s fine."

As he spoke, Mu Haoye let out a yawn.

Mu Haoye looked scholarly, but his morning routine was surprisingly bold and fast.

He gave his teeth a few quick swishes, splashed his face a couple of times, and called it done. When he turned around, he saw Little Tang Mo was still brushing his teeth.

Little Tang Mo was brushing with extreme concentration, not missing a single spot in his mouth.

"Why is he so serious about this?" Mu Haoye muttered.

’Watching Little Tang Mo,’ he thought, ’makes me feel as if I didn’t even wash up properly.’

"Tang Mo, I’ve been curious since yesterday. How did you do it before? And what exactly did you do last night? The police were so worked up. Everyone was here last night; no one was even planning to go home."

After speaking, Mu Haoye stroked his chin thoughtfully. "No, wait."

"Last night’s business must be confidential. You definitely can’t tell me, so I won’t ask."

After washing up, it was time to eat. The squad leader had gone out and bought all the tastiest food he could find.

It was all laid out on the table, awaiting Little Tang Mo’s royal approval.

The moment Little Tang Mo entered with Little Tongtong and Little Yang Mei, he was met with fiery gazes, their eyes as bright as 200-watt light bulbs.

Mu Haoye, trailing behind them, got caught in the crossfire and rubbed his arms.

"Tang Mo, see if you like it. If not, I’ll go buy something else."

Little Tang Mo nodded. "I like it. This is more than enough."

They were, after all, starving. Little Tang Mo, Little Tongtong, and Little Yang Mei didn’t bother with conversation and just dug in. While not exactly wolfing it down, they ate with incredible speed.

"Eat up, eat up. Be careful not to choke."

The squad leader smiled. "Tang Mo, we’ve contacted your family. Your mother is on her way now."

Little Tang Mo finally looked up, a smile spreading across his face as he nodded vigorously. "Okay."

"Aunt Su is coming. Is my mom coming too?" Little Tongtong asked.

The squad leader nodded. "Yes, they’re all coming."

"What about my mom?" Little Yang Mei chimed in.

"Your mom will be a little later, but we’ve contacted her too. She’s on her way."

The squad leader sounded particularly happy and proud as he said this.

Little Tang Mo was finally full. Although he wanted to eat a little more, he controlled himself.

"Tongtong, Yang Mei, let’s stop here for now. We can’t eat anymore, it wouldn’t be good for us."

Little Tongtong and Little Yang Mei were still wanting more, but they obediently stopped.

"Alright, you guys can watch some TV," the squad leader said while clearing the table.

They were in the main office area, but aside from a few officers who had stayed behind, most people were out.

There was a TV in the office, and the squad leader turned it on for them.

As luck would have it, the moment it turned on, Little Tang Mo let out a small "Huh?"

"Ah, it’s Aunt Zhen."

Little Tang Mo watched Ling Zhen on the news, pleasantly surprised.

"You know Ling Zhen?" the squad leader asked curiously. Mu Haoye also looked at Little Tang Mo.

Little Tang Mo nodded. "Mhm, I know her. She’s a friend of my mom’s. My mom is going to be a reporter too after she graduates."

The squad leader was stunned for a moment. They had been so busy with deployment and other tasks last night that they hadn’t paid much attention to Su Li.

’So his mother is still quite young. But she’s also very capable, becoming a reporter right after graduation.

And she’s friends with Ling Zhen.’

Ordinary people might not have been that familiar with Ling Zhen, but for police officers like them, she was a household name.

Because Ling Zhen specialized in reporting on crime-related news, she appeared in more than half of the programs they watched.

"That’s really impressive," the squad leader praised, then added.

"By the way, Tang Mo, the owner of the car you smashed yesterday came by this morning. The chief said the department will handle it, so you don’t need to worry."

Little Tang Mo shook his head. "I’m the one who smashed the car, so I should be the one to pay for it. My mom should be here soon. Please ask them to wait."

The squad leader scratched his head. "Alright, I’ll talk to the captain about it."

After he finished, he couldn’t help but add, "Tang Mo, how are you so amazing? You know so many things, you can even draw portraits."

Little Tang Mo smiled. "It’s all thanks to my mom teaching me. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to draw it."

The words had barely left his mouth when someone burst in through the door. It was none other than the captain.

The captain’s face was a mixture of excitement, suppressed anger, and other emotions.

"We found it. We found the main base."

The captain rushed over to Tang Mo, said that one sentence, then squeezed his eyes shut and took a sharp breath.

After hearing what Tang Mo said last night, they had immediately launched an operation, deploying plainclothes officers to stake out the area.

It was already late, but some people were still out—eating, watching movies, or doing other things. There were still quite a few people on the streets.

The same went for the disabled children who were begging. Although there were fewer of them, some were still out.

For example, at the night market, or near the entrance to the movie theater...

They were the first to come out and the last to go back, never passing up any opportunity to beg for money.

Following Little Tang Mo’s information, the undercover officers tailed them and actually discovered several dens and one main base.

The dens were small hideouts for two or three people. These were places known to the begging children on the streets; it’s where they went every day to hand over the money they’d collected.

These dens were mobile and also served as resting places for the beggars at night.

The people in charge of the dens, after collecting the money, would gather at another location—this was the main base.

After a full night and morning of pulling on the thread, they finally confirmed the existence of the main base.

The captain was thrilled by this development, but he couldn’t help but feel distressed as well.

The officers who carried out the mission were in even lower spirits than the captain, because last night they had personally witnessed several children being beaten for not begging enough money.

They were no strangers to those children—the many disabled, numb-looking kids on the streets. They had pitied them, but they never imagined that this numbness was beaten into them day after day.

If they hadn’t been on a mission, they wouldn’t have been able to stop themselves from rushing out and arresting those inhuman monsters right then and there.

"Tang Mo... thank you."

The captain’s thanks were heavy, offered not just on behalf of the police, but on behalf of those children as well.

"Don’t worry. We will catch the bad guys and minimize the number of victims as much as possible."

Little Tang Mo heard this and nodded firmly. "I believe in you."

Without another word, the captain left.

For the next three hours, they executed a coordinated, secret arrest plan. Nearly every officer from the city’s main police department, as well as those from the surrounding counties and towns, was mobilized to capture the cancers festering throughout the city.

「Three hours later.」

All the city’s officers had returned, their mission a success.

The arrests in the various counties, towns, and villages also went smoothly.

Just like other suspects all over the country, they were arrested in a state of disbelief and utter confusion.

Just like the male driver and the bald woman, disaster struck from out of the blue right when they thought they had perfectly completed another job and were about to enjoy the rewards.

Some were even arrested right in their beds.
