Chapter 492: The Eve
Wu Qihua was extremely happy and satisfied with the trip to the park. Her affection for Little Tang Mo was simply unstoppable.
"Little Mo is too smart. I’ve never seen such a clever and capable child before."
"I used to praise Wu Sheng for being smart, but compared to Little Mo, he really can’t measure up."
Little Tang Mo was a little embarrassed at first, but when he heard Wu Qihua praise him for being smarter than Wu Sheng, the corners of his mouth quickly turned up, and he couldn’t help but straighten his back.
Su Li saw Little Tang Mo’s reaction and had to stifle a laugh, desperately holding it in.
Little Tang Mo didn’t notice Su Li’s amusement. After Wu Qihua finished speaking, he even feigned a calm expression and said,
"Uncle Wu is very capable too."
Wu Qihua waved her hand. "Capable? What’s so capable about him? He’s already so old."
This conversation... Su Li was afraid she’d burst out laughing, so she could only cover her mouth.
From the perspective of Little Tang Mo, who had just turned eight after the New Year, the thirty-one-year-old Wu Sheng was indeed very old.
So he didn’t think there was anything wrong with what Wu Qihua said at all and even nodded with a particularly serious expression.
Away at his closed-off selection training, Wu Sheng suddenly sneezed, and then sneezed again.
’Who’s thinking of me... Is it Su Li?’
He muttered to himself, rubbing his nose, completely unaware that he was being looked down on by Wu Qihua and Little Tang Mo.
After a fun day at the park, both Su Li and Little Tang Mo were very happy. But they had been running around all day, and after his bath, Little Tang Mo couldn’t stop yawning.
"You must be tired today. Little Mo, from now on, whenever we have time, let’s try to go out once a week. It doesn’t matter where we go, just to get some exercise."
Little Tang Mo was rather aloof with outsiders these days. He didn’t enjoy playing childish games at school and just loved to read. Other children hated school and reading, so she worried that if Little Tang Mo studied and read too much, he would become a bookworm with a weak constitution.
Little Tang Mo yawned again, his small body snuggling softly into Su Li’s arms as he mumbled his agreement, "Okay."
’As long as Mom goes with me, anywhere is fine.’
For Little Tang Mo, Su Li was the number one person who could willingly pull him away from the ocean of knowledge.
Nestled in Su Li’s embrace and smelling her familiar scent, Little Tang Mo instantly drifted off.
Su Li was in the middle of trimming Little Tang Mo’s nails. It was best to do it after a bath because the nails were softer.
After finishing his fingernails, she moved on to his toenails, but halfway through, the child fell asleep.
Su Li put down the nail clippers and looked at the soundly sleeping Little Tang Mo, unable to resist poking his cheek.
After poking him, she resignedly picked Little Tang Mo up and placed him on his bed.
In the past year, Little Tang Mo had grown another little bit and was now almost up to Su Li’s shoulder.
As he got taller, he also got heavier. Su Li didn’t usually carry Little Tang Mo anymore because it was becoming more and more difficult. She only held him occasionally.
She put Little Tang Mo down with some effort, and the movement woke him. "Mama..."
"Go to sleep..." Su Li patted his shoulder, and upon hearing her voice, Little Tang Mo immediately fell soundly asleep again.
Su Li waited until he was fast asleep, gazing at his sleeping face, unwilling to look away.
After watching for a while, Su Li finally kissed his forehead, turned off the light, and left the room.
The next day, Su Li brought Little Tang Mo to Tang Yuanxiao.
Tang Yuanxiao wanted to see Little Tang Mo, and since Little Tang Mo had no objection, she took him over.
"Su Li, Momo."
Tang Yuanxiao was waiting at the entrance of Su Li’s residential complex. A bicycle was parked next to him, with a small seat added to the back rack—clearly prepared for Little Tang Mo.
Su Li smiled and nodded. "So you have the whole day free, huh?"
"Yes, I can take him for the whole day." For Tang Yuanxiao, this was an opportunity he couldn’t have hoped for more.
"Alright, then I’ll wait here for you to come back at six-thirty after I get off work." Su Li had already asked for Little Tang Mo’s opinion and readily agreed.
Tang Yuanxiao put his arm around Little Tang Mo and looked at Su Li. Seeing that her complexion was good, he wanted to say something but ultimately held his tongue.
Su Li was in a hurry to get to the newspaper office, so she didn’t say much either.
"Little Mo, be good today," Su Li instructed before saying her goodbyes and leaving.
Tang Yuanxiao and Little Tang Mo watched Su Li leave before walking over to the bicycle.
"Come, I’ll lift you up."
Little Tang Mo looked at Tang Yuanxiao, then held out his arms to be lifted onto the seat on the back of the bicycle.
A smile couldn’t help but spread across Tang Yuanxiao’s face. "Hold on tight."
As soon as he got on the bike, he immediately said to Little Tang Mo, "Hold on to me."
Little Tang Mo obediently hugged Tang Yuanxiao, pressing his face tightly against his back.
Such closeness was like a powerful encouragement for Tang Yuanxiao, and his pedaling gained a new strength.
"Momo, where do you want to go?"
"The library," Little Tang Mo replied without a second thought.
Tang Yuanxiao had no objections to wherever Little Tang Mo wanted to go, so they ended up spending the entire morning at the library.
After lunch, Tang Yuanxiao tentatively asked Little Tang Mo, "Momo, how about we go see a movie?"
Little Tang Mo had no objection and nodded. "Okay."
Throughout the day, Tang Yuanxiao’s attention was entirely on Little Tang Mo, his eyes almost never leaving him. Whatever Little Tang Mo said, went.
Watching Tang Yuanxiao, Little Tang Mo also felt a strange mix of emotions.
The day passed in a flash. No matter how much Tang Yuanxiao prayed for time to slow down, just for one more day, the brief time he had with Little Tang Mo still passed quickly.
Tang Yuanxiao brought Little Tang Mo back at the agreed-upon time and reluctantly said his goodbyes.
That night, Tang Yuanxiao, who hadn’t dreamed in a while, had a dream.
He dreamed he was looking for Little Tang Mo.
Perhaps he had been too nervous taking care of Little Tang Mo during the day, never daring to take his eyes off him. Even though he had safely returned Little Tang Mo, he still dreamed that night that he had lost him.
After he disappeared in the blink of an eye, Tang Yuanxiao began searching for Little Tang Mo.
He searched and searched. Tang Yuanxiao was frantic, rushing around in his dream, and ended up searching for many years.
When he woke up from the dream the next day, Tang Yuanxiao was a bit disoriented.
Once he opened his eyes and realized it was a dream, he let out a huge sigh of relief.
Though relieved, the anxiety from the dream lingered. Tang Yuanxiao thought for a moment and couldn’t resist calling Su Li.
Only after hearing Little Tang Mo’s energetic voice on the phone did Tang Yuanxiao finally, completely relax.
On the other end, Su Li was a bit baffled by Tang Yuanxiao’s call, but seeing that he was just concerned about Little Tang Mo, she didn’t say anything.
After getting ready for the day, Su Li and Little Tang Mo left the house together. She went to her internship, while Little Tang Mo, as usual, went to the library.
At the complex entrance, they ran into Little Tongtong and her mother. When Little Tongtong saw Little Tang Mo, she insisted on going to the library with him, promising she would be good and wouldn’t be noisy or disruptive.
Little Tang Mo didn’t want to take Little Tongtong along, but he clearly couldn’t win the argument against her.
Su Li took the two children to the library. She greeted the elderly librarian, whom she was already familiar with, and asked him to help keep an eye on Little Tang Mo and Little Tongtong.
The librarian was already very familiar with Little Tang Mo and agreed without a second thought.
Su Li had originally planned to come over during her lunch break, take Little Tang Mo and Little Tongtong to eat, and then rush back to work.
She had her car, so there would have been enough time. Unfortunately, plans don’t always work out.
At noon, she ended up having to follow her mentor, a senior reporter, to cover a story and couldn’t make it back in time.
