On their way here, Su Li and the others had been rushing as fast as they could, so they hadn’t had a chance to ask about many things.

Furthermore, what Little Tang Mo had done—the secret arrests and so on—was all confidential. So up until now, Su Li’s understanding of her son was still limited to the fact that he had rescued himself.

They could imagine Little Tang Mo being clever enough to rescue himself, and Su Li was especially gratified by that.

But as for the other things Little Tang Mo had done on top of his self-rescue... Su Li couldn’t even begin to imagine.

Little Tang Mo was sensible and smart, and Su Li had always called him her little genius. But this little genius was her own son, constantly clinging to her and calling "Mommy," so she couldn’t have imagined he was *this* capable.

When the police captain personally recounted what Little Tang Mo had done, Su Li was beyond shocked.

She knew Little Tang Mo was impressive, but she had no idea he was *this* impressive. It truly made her see him in a whole new light.

Su Li was just utterly stunned.

Tang Yuanxiao and Wu Sheng felt the same way.

The two men exchanged a look, tried to imagine themselves in Little Tang Mo’s shoes, and had no choice but to admit:

"This kid... he’s good. Amazing."

"We’re no match for this kid."

And wasn’t it the truth? None of them could have done what Little Tang Mo did. In fact, very few people in the world could.

The captain couldn’t agree more with their assessment.

"This Little Mo is just incredible. We’re no match for him, we have to admit it."

Having said that, the captain brought up his old proposal again.

"Little Mo’s mom, how about it? Let Little Tang Mo become a police officer in the future. If he joins the force, it would be a blessing for everyone. Think of how many people would be saved from disaster."

Hearing this, Su Li felt both delighted and proud.

"Captain, Little Mo has to choose his own future career. He should pick what he loves and what he thinks is the best fit for him. It’s not my decision to make."

’Little Mo is going to be a physicist in the future. Many of the books he reads every day are already about physics. It shows that besides having a talent for it, he truly loves it.’

Su Li couldn’t just agree rashly.

The captain was quite disappointed, but he also knew Su Li was telling the truth.

"True, true."

Since their discussion was mostly over and Su Li’s group had arrived, the captain and his men went their separate ways to attend to their duties.

The squad leader remained behind to lead them downstairs.

On the way, the squad leader couldn’t help but keep glancing at Su Li and Little Tang Mo.

Downstairs, Mu Haoye, having already heard that Su Li’s group had arrived, was waiting with Little Tongtong and Little Yang Mei.

The moment Little Tongtong saw Su Li, she ran over. "Aunt Su! Aunt Su!"

The little girl was absolutely thrilled.

"Tongtong." Su Li swept Little Tongtong up into her arms. "Tongtong, do you hurt anywhere? Were you injured?"

"No, I’m not hurt. Big brother protected me."

Little Tongtong gave Su Li a big SMOOCH on the cheek. "I’m so happy to see you, Aunt Su."

"Mommy," Little Tang Mo said, looking up at Su Li expectantly as he hugged her leg.

Mu Haoye, holding Little Yang Mei’s hand, watched Little Tang Mo and felt the same sense of disillusionment the captain and his men had experienced earlier.

Watching Little Tang Mo cling to Su Li, having completely reverted to being a little kid, Mu Haoye thought to himself:

’When he’s with his mom, it’s like Little Tang Mo has stepped down from a pedestal and become a real, living person.’

Su Li greeted both Little Tongtong and Little Yang Mei. Then, Little Tang Mo eagerly pulled Mu Haoye over to his mom to explain how he had rescued himself.

"...Brother Haojie helped me. I don’t know what would have happened otherwise. Brother Haojie is my lifesaver, too."

"Oh, yes, of course! Thank you so much. Thank you."

Su Li thanked him profusely, which made Mu Haoye very embarrassed. "You don’t have to thank me, really. I didn’t do much, I just went to get the police."

"I must, I absolutely must," Su Li insisted. When she heard from Little Tang Mo that Mu Haoye had come all the way here and had been helping look after the children, she felt even more grateful.

Mu Haoye grew flustered from all the thanks. "I... I stayed, but it was really just to see the spectacle. It’s just that Tang Mo is so..."

’He’s really not like a normal kid.’ Although the details of the arrests were confidential, Mu Haoye wasn’t an idiot. From the way the police treated Little Tang Mo, he could tell the people who’d been brought in were connected to him.

It was all just so thrilling! Catching the bad guys, rescuing the victims... he was even more incredible than the great heroes of the martial world.

He was basically a superhero.

And he loved superheroes.

Su Li pieced together Mu Haoye’s meaning from his fragmented explanation and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Mu Haoye liked Little Tang Mo, and he also felt a sense of warmth toward Su Li, who looked impossibly young to be a mother.

"Sister Su, when are you heading back to the Imperial City? Do you think I could travel back with you?"

"Travel back together?" Su Li asked, curious.

"Yeah. I came to my maternal grandmother’s house with my parents for winter break. School is starting soon, so I need to head back."

It turned out Mu Haoye was a university student, a junior majoring in physics at Imperial University, one of the top schools in the country.

Hearing his school and major, Su Li was so surprised she forgot to blink.

’Hmm... a physics major... and from Imperial University, of all places... This is...’

"Mommy, isn’t Brother Haojie amazing?" Little Tang Mo giggled.

"Yes, he is. Very amazing," Su Li agreed with a firm nod.

The squad leader smiled off to the side. Besides other factors, Mu Haoye’s status as an Imperial University student was one of the reasons he had been allowed to stay with Little Tang Mo and the others.

"Looks like you’ve found a new friend," Su Li said, patting Little Tang Mo’s head. She then chatted a little more with Mu Haoye.

Wu Sheng and Tang Yuanxiao watched Su Li’s shining eyes and her enthusiastic demeanor, and felt a slight... twinge of jealousy.

Mu Haoye was a benefactor, yes, and they should be grateful. But the young man was a top student, he was too young, and standing next to Su Li... they actually looked pretty good together.

Tang Yuanxiao had felt these little pangs of jealousy so often that he was used to them. He remained silent.

Wu Sheng, however, was not used to it. He nonchalantly stepped forward and put his arm around Su Li’s shoulder. "Why are we just standing here talking? Let’s find somewhere to sit."

Mu Haoye was a young man who was still clueless about romance, with all the makings of a bookworm. Most of his time was spent reading; besides his studies, he devoured thrilling martial arts novels.

He considered Little Tang Mo a friend. Therefore, his friend’s mother, no matter how young she looked, was an elder in Mu Haoye’s eyes.

He was completely oblivious to Wu Sheng’s jealousy and nodded in enthusiastic agreement. "Yeah, that’s right."

"Let’s go to the office to sit and talk," the squad leader suggested. "We can take care of the paperwork at the same time."

At the squad leader’s suggestion, the group headed to an office.

On the way, Little Tang Mo told Su Li all about his ordeal, what he had been thinking and what he had done. Just as he got to the part about his escape and smashing the car, the couple who owned the car arrived.

"Mommy, I told them you would pay for it."

"Mm-hm, that was the right thing to say. And you did a wonderful job."

Su Li nodded emphatically. To have Little Tang Mo back safe and sound, she wouldn’t blink an eye at paying for the damages. She wouldn’t even blink if she had to pay for ten cars, or give up everything she owned.

"Let’s go. We’ll thank them first, and then compensate them for their loss."

Su Li took Little Tang Mo’s hand and stood up, then turned to look back at Wu Sheng and Tang Yuanxiao.

"You two don’t need to come. Why don’t you go clean yourselves up first?"

Little Tang Mo added, "Your beards. Shave them."

Wu Sheng and Tang Yuanxiao simultaneously stroked their beards. "..."

’But... don’t beards make you look manly?’
