Chapter 803 - 772: Draining Technique
Qu Chuanfu handed the freshly brewed coffee to Gao Xiaobai, and she accepted it, saying, "Thank you!"
Qu Chuanfu sat down beside Gao Xiaobai, maintaining a bit of distance, and habitually crossed his legs, saying, "So, is there anything I can help you with?"
Gao Xiaobai said, "It’s like this, recently I’ve been wanting to write a thesis on the current state of traditional Chinese medicine in today’s age, but I don’t know how to start."
Qu Chuanfu looked at Gao Xiaobai with some surprise and said, "Why did you think of writing about this topic?"
Gao Xiaobai said, "My dad works in the health system; he gave me the suggestion. I want to use this paper as my graduation thesis."
Qu Chuanfu laughed heartily and said, "Xiaobai, you’ve found the right person this time. I’ve been researching this area for years and didn’t expect us to think alike. It seems we have a real connection."
As Qu Chuanfu spoke, he moved a little closer to Gao Xiaobai.
Gao Xiaobai became increasingly nervous, truly wanting to flee, but recalling her mission today, she didn’t leave immediately. She took a sip of coffee and said, "This coffee really is fragrant."
Qu Chuanfu said, "You plan to pursue a PhD, right?"
Gao Xiaobai nodded.
Qu Chuanfu said, "Then come to me. I admire you very much. I’ll personally guide you and give you great help both inside and out. I guarantee you’ll have the best learning opportunities and that I’ll introduce you to resources and connections."
Gao Xiaobai said, "Thank you."
Qu Chuanfu laughed and said, "You’re being too polite with me. You’re so smart; you must understand what I mean." His gaze was unabashedly appraising Gao Xiaobai. He had seen many pretty girls, but there were very few attractive and intellectual female master’s students.
Gao Xiaobai felt his gaze had already violated her, and the distance between them had shrunk from a meter to just a foot.
Gao Xiaobai placed the coffee on the coffee table and said, "Professor Qu, I... I should come another day."
Qu Chuanfu grabbed her arm, saying, "What’s the rush? I won’t eat you. In my eyes, you’re like my child. Becoming my student would mean limitless prospects for you."
Gao Xiaobai broke free from his grasp, saying, "I should be going."
As she turned to leave, Qu Chuanfu sighed and said, "I’ve always thought you were an exceptionally smart child, more sensible than most. Everything in this world comes with a price. You have a long road ahead of you. While studying is important, not all goals can be achieved through learning."
Gao Xiaobai internally cursed him as a beast in human clothing, and coldly said, "It seems we’ve both misjudged each other."
Gao Xiaobai prepared to open the door and leave. As she pulled it open just a crack, Qu Chuanfu rushed forward and pressed the door shut, looking at Gao Xiaobai and saying, "Opportunities don’t come twice; you must learn to seize them."
Gao Xiaobai was utterly disgusted by him. Xu Chunliang had seen through him correctly. She angrily said, "Get out of the way!"
Qu Chuanfu nodded, inwardly lamenting that this girl would not take good advice, wondering if she’d want to graduate later. He sighed and said, "You’ve really disappointed me. Students should focus on academics and not always be thinking about these crooked ways. Gao Xiaobai, you’ve chosen the wrong person."
Gao Xiaobai was astonished. Why did he suddenly start talking like that?
Qu Chuanfu, exceedingly shrewd, saw that Gao Xiaobai was not falling for his tricks and worried she’d spread rumors when she left. So, he took preemptive action, intentionally speaking this way while starting a recording on his phone. The words were crafted in his favor, and if Gao Xiaobai dared expose him, he would use the recording to prove she came to the office trying to seduce him.
Qu Chuanfu’s expression was full of smugness. With his stature and status, it would be easy to make things difficult for Gao Xiaobai. He initially thought she came at night to throw herself at him but didn’t expect her to be so unaware of his intentions. "I’ll soon let you taste the consequences of rejecting me," he thought.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door outside, startling Qu Chuanfu. Who could be here at this time?
He whispered a threat to Gao Xiaobai, "Be smart. You better not tarnish my reputation."
Qu Chuanfu opened the door. Before he could see what was happening outside, a fist landed on his right eye, giving him a black eye.
Qu Chuanfu, a highly educated intellectual who typically neglected exercise, was not very resilient. Xu Chunliang didn’t even use much force; after all, it would cause trouble if he accidentally killed him.
Qu Chuanfu staggered back, landing on the floor. Covering his eye with one hand, he looked through his left eye to see who dared to storm into his office and hit him, but he still couldn’t see clearly. Xu Chunliang moved too fast, slapping Qu Chuanfu’s left cheek, twisting his neck like a whip.
Xiaobai had seen Xu Chunliang fight more than once before and had even reminded him on their way over not to resort to violence. Qu Chuanfu was a highly educated scholar, with considerable social influence. Hitting him would have serious consequences.
Xu Chunliang said, "Close the door!"
Xiaobai walked out and closed the door, but only after she closed it did she realize she had stepped outside. She then pushed the door open again and locked it from the inside.
Qu Chuanfu’s right eye hurt so much that he was tearing up, and the left side of his face felt like it was burning as if a spicy pepper had crawled over it. Seeing clearly that it was Xu Chunliang, he angrily said, "I recognize you. How dare you barge into my office and beat me? I’m going to call the police."
Xu Chunliang said, "Go ahead, call them if you have the guts. You old scoundrel, always pretending to be the victim!" As he spoke, he kept slapping Qu Chuanfu’s head, one slap after another, making Qu Chuanfu dizzy. Qu quickly covered his head with both hands, "Stop, stop, you’re already breaking the law."
Xu Chunliang said, "People like you are just rotten scoundrels disguised as highly educated individuals, and you lecture me about the law. Do you think just because you studied a few more years, the law will protect you? If you piss me off, I’ll throw you out the window right now."
Gao Xiaobai said, "Chunliang, don’t do anything rash."
Xu Chunliang said, "He didn’t do anything to you just now, did he?"
Gao Xiaobai said, "He wouldn’t dare!"
Qu Chuanfu was actually a bit scared now, but he still spoke tough, "You just wait. I will hold you accountable legally for this. Gao Xiaobai, you colluded with outsiders to attack me, and you’ll be expelled for it."
Gao Xiaobai also got angry and picked up the coffee from the table, splashing it onto Qu Chuanfu’s face, "You hypocrite hiding behind a façade of morality."
Xu Chunliang said to Gao Xiaobai, "Xiaobai, you should step out for a bit. I need to have a private conversation with Professor Qu." Mainly because what he was going to do next was not suitable for Xiaobai to see.
Gao Xiaobai nodded, turned around, and walked out, closing the door behind her.
Qu Chuanfu watched Xu Chunliang advancing towards him and said tremblingly, "What are you going to do? I’m telling you, I am a professor at Shuimu University, you dare..."
Xu Chunliang pressed a point on his body, and Qu Chuanfu’s body instantly became limp, without even the strength to lift a finger.
Xu Chunliang said, "Qu Chuanfu, I know exactly what kind of person you are."
Qu Chuanfu said, "What... what did you do to me? Let me go, or I’ll call out."
Xu Chunliang said, "Thanks for reminding me." He then pressed the silent acupuncture point on Qu Chuanfu.
Now Qu Chuanfu couldn’t even speak.
Xu Chunliang said, "Listen carefully, recently you published many comments attacking traditional Chinese medicine. I came here today to discuss this matter with you. You probably won’t admit anything easily, so I have to give you a taste of your own medicine first."
Xu Chunliang said with a smile, "Didn’t you disparage Chinese medicine in your articles? Let me give you a sense of its effect." He turned Qu Chuanfu’s body over, making his back face him.
Qu Chuanfu, his face pressed against the cold floor tiles, felt Xu Chunliang lifting his clothes and then pulling down his pants. Qu Chuanfu was terrified—what was he planning? Could it be this youngster had a proclivity for men? Oh heaven, I am a normal man. Though I covet Gao Xiaobai’s beauty, I never did anything to her. How can you treat me with such shamelessness?
Unable to move or speak, Qu Chuanfu thought, if he really violated me, such humiliation—how could I face the world? Today is a terrible loss, might I get assaulted while failing to woo women?
Xu Chunliang took out a needle pouch, drew out a fine needle, and inserted it into the Shenshu point on Qu Chuanfu’s lower back.
The Shenshu point, also known as Gaogai, is named for its location on the waist, capable of transmitting the kidney’s qi along the meridian. It’s part of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. ’Gao’ refers to the heavenly qi; ’Gai,’ to cover; indicating the qi and blood substances from the kidneys outward are the moist qi of the heavenly region.
Located under the 14th vertebrae in the waist, it is one and a half inches on either side, level with the navel, and belongs to the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian.
This point warms the kidneys, benefits marrow, strengthens vision, and in traditional medicine, acupuncture at the Shenshu point is used to treat symptoms such as nephritis, renal colic, paralysis, and bladder muscle paralysis.
While acupuncture can indeed treat diseases, the key is precision. Xu Chunliang is certainly not using acupuncture kindly to invigorate Qu Chuanfu’s kidneys. Acupuncture can heal or harm, depending on the technique employed. Using reinforcing or reducing methods can have opposite effects.
Xu Chunliang used the reducing method on Qu Chuanfu.
Qu Chuanfu first felt a stabbing pain, which then turned into a swelling pain, which spread downward to the sacral area and upward to the left upper abdomen, marking the first sensation of the Shenshu point needle.
The sides of his waist felt as though the air valves were being pulled out, and qi and blood substances from the heavenly region continuously leaked out.
After five minutes of needle retention, Xu Chunliang continued the needle, penetrating the fascia between the erector spine and quadratus lumborum, producing a second needle sensation.
Qu Chuanfu felt a heaviness and soreness in his lower back, as if his kidneys turned into two lead balls, accompanied by a numb sensation, expanding outward.
Xu Chunliang took another needle, inserting it from the lowest point of entry, penetrating an inch and a half, into Qu Chuanfu’s corpus cavernosum, causing the needle sensation to extend to his head, the technique created a localized swelling heat sensation.
Qu Chuanfu couldn’t see what Xu Chunliang was actually doing, simmering with a mix of shame and anger—how could he have encountered such an evildoer? He still didn’t understand Xu Chunliang was using needle techniques to drain his yang energy.
