Chapter 396 - 385: The Truth Comes to Light
At this point, Nina Sinclair didn’t dare open her mouth. She could only play dumb, pretending she hadn’t heard a thing.
Yvonne White immediately realized she’d been duped, and her face darkened.
But then she had another thought and suddenly said, "Who’s to say she hasn’t gotten into other rich men’s cars? Isn’t she always surrounded by men? For all we know, she’s juggling dozens of them."
"Madam, watch your words!"
Mr. Sinclair cut Yvonne White off, his eyes turning frosty. "My daughter and her boyfriend have a wonderful relationship. I suggest you show some self-respect, Madam, and stop bringing shame upon the Sinclair family."
With that, Mr. Sinclair’s voice boomed, "Uncle Warren, show our guest out!"
He then glanced at the two young people standing nearby. "Go sit on the sofa."
Jasper Shaw and Chloe Sinclair quickly nodded.
They knew this wasn’t the right time for them to speak up.
As Uncle Warren began to escort the two women out, Mr. Sinclair suddenly added, "Madam, if you dislike Chloe, then it’s best you don’t visit again."
He’d said it many times before, and he didn’t mind saying it again today.
Humiliated by Mr. Sinclair again and again, Yvonne White’s expression turned ugly.
Though she was now displeased with Nina, her attitude toward Chloe wasn’t any better, especially after seeing the man by her side.
’Bringing a strange man home at such a young age.’
’She’s clearly a little slut!’
"Quentin Sinclair, if you don’t rein in your daughter, be careful she doesn’t dump a grandson in your lap!"
Yvonne White tutted. "And this man... he looks presentable enough, I suppose."
Mr. Sinclair’s head throbbed. He repeated, "Uncle Warren, escort the madam home. If she comes again in the future, there’s no need to open the door."
Uncle Warren accepted the order and turned to Yvonne White. "Madam, please don’t make this difficult for me."
Yvonne White found herself in an awkward position.
In a moment of panic, she said, "It’s the New Year, for goodness’ sake! Are you really in such a rush to throw an old woman like me out? If the media were to find out... Heh!"
Just then, the three Sinclair brothers came downstairs holding a carved figurine. Hearing Yvonne White’s threat filled them with rage.
"You’re aware of what day it is, and we have guests. Aren’t you the one embarrassing the Sinclair family by acting like this?"
The speaker was Gabriel Sinclair.
He’d never had a good relationship with Yvonne White, and his words were characteristically venomous.
Rebuked, Yvonne White was momentarily at a loss for words.
"Grandma, you should just go home," Ethan Sinclair now chimed in. "Otherwise, you’ll only end up embarrassing yourself."
Yvonne White’s face was a mask of shock. She stared at the grandson she had always doted on, unable to believe he would speak to her like that.
"Fine. Just fine," she said. "If that’s how it is, I’ll go."
With a cold snort, she turned to leave.
"Wait."
Suddenly, Chloe Sinclair, who had been silent until now, rose from the sofa. She smiled as she stared at Nina Sinclair, who was cowering in a corner, trying her best to become invisible.
"Nina Sinclair, you claimed I got into some rich old man’s car. What proof do you have?"
"Everyone at Emberfall University knows my boyfriend is Jasper Shaw. Are you telling me you didn’t know?"
"Besides, didn’t we see each other at the Shaw family estate just the other day?"
The rapid-fire questions left Nina Sinclair completely stunned.
Not only was Yvonne White astonished, but even Mr. Sinclair and the Sinclair brothers hadn’t seen this coming.
"The Shaw family?"
The only place that could be called ’the Shaw family estate’ was the old residence where Kane Shaw lived.
Yvonne White’s frown deepened. She couldn’t fathom how Nina Sinclair would have ended up at the Shaw family estate.
"Nina Sinclair, what is the meaning of this?"
Panicked, Nina Sinclair bit her lip and said nothing.
But it was Jasper Shaw who suddenly snorted. "What else could it be? She’s just my dad’s new girlfriend. I hear they’re getting married next spring."
