Chapter 319: Fortunately, Your Brother Is There
This was the first time she’d ever heard of such a thing.
She glanced at Jane Ford, unable to stop herself from pointing out, "Jane, finals are almost here."
"It’s fine. Professor Myers said it’s only for two days."
Chloe Sinclair could have turned down the reality show. But it was almost finals, and given the choice between getting famous and failing a class, students would of course choose to avoid the latter.
So when Jane Ford recommended Chloe Sinclair, Professor Myers not only didn’t object but was actually very much in favor of it.
This was why Jane Ford was speaking so confidently today.
Seeing that Chloe Sinclair still seemed to want to refuse, Jane Ford added, "You really should join a school activity for once. You haven’t participated in anything all semester."
The words died on Chloe’s lips, so she simply fell silent.
Still, she needed to ask about the show. "Can you give me the details?"
Of course, Jane Ford didn’t mind.
After all, if Chloe didn’t go, Jane would be the only one going on the show.
She was clueless about this sort of thing and had no idea how to act in front of a camera.
What’s more, finals were just around the corner. Compared to making a name for herself on a reality show, she much preferred to focus on her studies at school.
Jane Ford was busy running her little calculations when she looked up and met a pair of eyes as dark and clear as a tranquil pool. A shiver ran through her, and a flicker of guilt appeared in her eyes.
"What’s wrong?"
Chloe Sinclair knew what little scheme Jane Ford was plotting, but she didn’t call her out on it.
Chloe’s face held a faint smile, her eyes sparkling, and for a moment, Jane Ford couldn’t tell whether she had seen through her little plan or not.
"Jane, you still haven’t told me the details."
Jane Ford snapped back to reality, a hint of panic on her face. She quickly said, "I’ll send the document to your WeChat in a bit."
After she finished, she paused for a moment before continuing, "This event is a directive from the Bureau, and they only chose our university. There are only three spots for the tens of thousands of students here, so don’t go embarrassing the School of Physics."
Jane Ford regretted it as soon as the words left her mouth. She didn’t understand why she had to add such a pointless remark.
’How could someone as brilliant as Chloe Sinclair possibly embarrass the School of Physics?’
’She’s the darling student of every professor in the school.’
She’d expected Chloe to mock her, but when she glanced over, she found Chloe’s eyes filled with a gentle smile. There was gratitude in them, but not a trace of ridicule.
Jane Ford froze, then quickly turned and hurried back to her seat.
A nearby classmate saw what happened and couldn’t help but say, "Chloe, why can’t you ever say no? That was originally Jane’s responsibility, but she pawned it off on you because she didn’t want to go."
Chloe Sinclair didn’t pay it any mind.
"It’s okay. It’s only for two days, right?"
The classmate paused, and on second thought, figured it wasn’t a huge deal.
"I guess it’s not that much time, but we’re already so far behind. Finals are almost here, and there’s still so much I haven’t grasped. If I don’t pass, I’ll have to retake the whole class."
At another university, they might pass students just to meet the Bureau’s requirements, but Emberfall University is notoriously strict.
If you want to pass, you have to earn it on the exam. The professors would never give out extra points just because they like a student.
Two days might not be a big deal for Chloe Sinclair, but for students like them, who were racing against the clock, forty-eight hours was precious.
"Sigh... I heard it’s in the mountains in the next province. The flight alone is over an hour."
"It’s a good thing your brother is there. Otherwise, I’d be worried about you going all by yourself."
