Chapter 317: The Slap to the Face Came Too Fast

Chloe Sinclair just glanced over and gave a silent nod.

Shawn Styles and Julian Dawson weren’t the only ones who came along; there were also seven or eight others from the sports team.

Chloe was usually busy, so everyone did their best to find a way to run with her in the mornings.

Even today’s opportunity to run was one they had fought hard for amongst the team.

After an hour of continuous running, everyone’s speed had noticeably improved a bit under Chloe’s guidance.

While the improvement wasn’t as dramatic as before, it was a delightful surprise for these athletes, who had long struggled to push past their limits.

After two hours, the group was already exhausted.

But for those running with her for the first time, the sight was jaw-dropping.

Chloe hadn’t just kept running; she’d actually picked up the pace.

’So she was just jogging along with us before?!’

Two and a half hours in, Shawn Styles was out of steam. He slowed to a stop, took a sip of water, and happened to see Julian Dawson, whose jaw was on the floor.

Seeing this, he couldn’t resist teasing, "Now who was it that made all those passive-aggressive comments about Chloe not even being on a professional level?"

Julian Dawson’s face flushed red.

He had indeed said those words, but Chloe had made him eat them in less than an hour.

This was an even bigger slap in the face.

Thinking this, he wished the ground would swallow him whole.

Three hours in, Chloe saw it was about time to stop. Noticing the others stretching on the side, she walked over to join them.

Julian Dawson was the first to spot her. He eagerly offered her a bottle of water, his eyes fixed on her.

"What is it?"

Julian’s stare was so intense that Chloe couldn’t help but shudder.

"Nothing," the man said, nodding. There was a hint of disappointment in his eyes.

But then he clicked his tongue in admiration. "It’s a real shame you don’t run marathons with that kind of speed," he remarked. "You could probably even break records."

Chloe considered it for a moment. "I’ll join one in the future if I get the chance," she said.

In her past life, there had been numerous marathons that both professionals and amateurs could enter.

She had been too busy back then and had neglected her health; this time around, she was determined to take good care of her body.

Her body was her most important asset.

If an opportunity like that came up, she would definitely take it.

As they were about to part ways, Julian Dawson asked, "Chloe, are you coming this weekend? I still have a lot of questions for you."

Chloe thought for a moment, then shook her head apologetically. "I don’t think so. I have to do research with my professor this weekend, and my final exams are right after that."

As soon as her finals were over, she and Gabriel Sinclair were heading back to Kennet for the New Year.

Thinking of Gabriel, Chloe suddenly realized it had been a long time since she’d been in touch with her brother.

’His scenes for *Rivers and Mountains* should have wrapped up a long time ago.’

But lately, it was as if Gabriel had vanished.

If he hadn’t been posting the occasional social media update, Chloe would have started to suspect he’d been kidnapped by anti-fans.

After seeing Julian, Shawn, and the others off, Chloe returned to her apartment.

Once her phone was charged, Chloe called Gabriel.

"Sis!"

Gabriel sounded completely surprised that she had called him, his voice jumping an octave.

It was so loud that Chloe’s ears rang, and she instinctively pulled the phone away.

"Bro, have you been busy lately?"

It was noisy on Gabriel’s end. Chloe could hear the voices of many children, a mix of Mandarin and a local dialect she couldn’t quite understand.
