Chapter 285: Perplexity
Spaceship after spaceship shuttled through the vast, boundless universe.
They moved in an orderly fashion, just like traffic on a human highway.
Chloe Sinclair suddenly felt a prickle in her nose, her voice trembling slightly. "Eight, is this the planet where you live?"
"Yes, this is my planet."
Eight nodded. Then, the image on the blue screen changed, and planets of all different shapes and forms appeared.
But unlike what could be observed with current technology, Chloe Sinclair could clearly feel the life force emanating from them.
Soon, a blue planet appeared on the electronic screen.
Chloe Sinclair’s breath hitched.
It was the first time she had ever seen Earth so directly.
In the vast universe, this azure planet didn’t particularly stand out.
Yet Chloe Sinclair’s gaze was fixed directly on it.
"It’s so beautiful."
Chloe Sinclair was awestruck, her beautiful dark eyes unwilling to move even an inch.
"Master, is this the blueprint you envisioned?"
The blue screen suddenly vanished, and Chloe Sinclair’s attention was finally pulled back to the present.
"It is."
Eight’s world was almost identical to the golden age she had envisioned.
This answer greatly satisfied Eight. Its large blue eyes looked at Chloe Sinclair as it said with great solemnity, "It will."
Anything Chloe Sinclair wanted could absolutely be achieved.
"Congratulations, Host. You have successfully opened the first door: Physics."
The moment Eight finished speaking, Chloe Sinclair felt the world around her shift and change in countless ways as space itself began to twist.
When she opened her eyes again, Chloe Sinclair found herself in a research lab.
The lab was several thousand square meters in size, and Chloe Sinclair roughly estimated that it contained over a thousand different types of instruments.
Most importantly, she didn’t recognize a single one.
These objects were tangible; Chloe Sinclair could feel the cold metal of the instruments.
And yet, the colder the instruments felt, the more excited Chloe Sinclair became.
She stared fervently at her surroundings, her avid gaze trying to drink in every last detail of the laboratory.
"This research lab has a total of seven floors. The first floor contains the most basic types of instruments. Within one month, the Host must memorize all the instruments on the first floor and complete a randomly assigned task from the system to unlock the second floor."
Chloe Sinclair nodded. "What did you mean just now about the ’first door’?"
Eight chuckled. "Because before, a large portion of what you learned was confined to the scope of your world. This dimension here *is* ’within the door.’ Once you complete the system’s tasks, you can access civilization and technology that surpasses what currently exists on Earth. This whole situation is what we call being ’within the door.’"
Chloe Sinclair nodded, more or less understanding.
"It’s quite fitting."
"Oh, right," Chloe Sinclair suddenly thought of something. "Does this mean that if I meet the system’s requirements in the future, I can access the civilization of your world?"
Eight nodded. "Yes."
Chloe Sinclair was ecstatic, but a trace of worry soon clouded her expression.
"But a human lifespan is finite. I’m afraid I won’t have enough time to integrate your technological civilization into this society."
’Changing a civilization isn’t as simple as just advancing its technology.’
’It was just like the youths a century ago who sought to change how people thought. They dedicated their entire lives to the cause, and it took generations of passing down those ideals to shape the mindsets of today.’
’Technological progress is important, of course, but human society has to be able to keep up.’
At this thought, Chloe Sinclair gave a self-deprecating laugh.
"How could I have forgotten something so important?"
