Chapter 357 - 446: Quarrel
Joseph Shaw knew the old man had a strange temper, so he didn’t dare linger. He grabbed Nina Sinclair and made a quick escape.
Once they were out of the old residence, Nina Sinclair’s expression was as black as thunder.
Thinking about the difference in how she and Chloe Sinclair were treated today, she couldn’t help but demand, "Joseph Shaw, are you even a man? That old fart said all that crap about me, and you didn’t say a single word to defend me!"
Joseph Shaw had lost face in front of his woman, so he wasn’t in a good mood either.
Hearing her grating voice, he couldn’t help but cut her off.
"What are you yelling about? If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have even been able to get in the door today!"
"And another thing, what makes you think you can compare yourself to Chloe Sinclair? She has family background, she has a career, and even her face is prettier than yours. You’re a nobody!"
"And that lousy idea of yours before, telling your brother to go to Emberfall and ask Chloe Sinclair for money. Not only did he not get a single cent, but he also ended up getting caught by Adrian Dalton’s men in their territory!"
"Of all the places to go, he just had to go to Adrian Dalton’s territory. Seriously, is your family crazy?"
Nina Sinclair had been doing a good job pleasing him lately, and Joseph Shaw thought she was a decent bedmate. As a result, he usually went along with whatever she wanted.
This was the first time Joseph Shaw had ever spoken to Nina Sinclair like this.
Nina Sinclair was instantly stunned.
She stared blankly at Joseph Shaw as tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
But Nina Sinclair had been with Joseph Shaw for nearly half a year. She knew that while he had a big temper, he was a brainless man.
Otherwise, she couldn’t have made him fall head over heels in love with her in just a few short months.
Sure enough, less than five seconds after Nina Sinclair started crying, Joseph Shaw immediately regretted it and slapped himself across the face right in front of her.
"Baby, I was just angry. I didn’t mean any of it."
Nina Sinclair knew not to push her luck at a time like this, so she nodded obediently.
She had gotten some minor cosmetic work done recently. Many parts of her face had been slightly altered, and her features were softer now.
Paired with her usual affected, delicate voice, most of Joseph Shaw’s displeasure quickly melted away.
"I didn’t expect that to happen with Ryan Sinclair either. But don’t worry, my parents are coming over from Corvin after the New Year. When the time comes, we’ll definitely make her life a living hell."
The moment Joseph Shaw heard this, most of his lingering displeasure vanished.
Still, he reminded her, "Tell your parents to be careful. Don’t fall into that little vixen’s trap."
Nina Sinclair smiled faintly, a triumphant look on her face. "Don’t worry. Once we use the power of the media, I don’t believe Chloe Sinclair will be able to hold out."

After the two of them left, the old man stood in the foyer for a long time before sighing. He hunched his back and walked into the living room.
As soon as he looked over, he found Chloe Sinclair staring at him without blinking.
The anger on the old man’s face was instantly replaced by a gentle expression.
"Don’t mind him. He’s just a scoundrel."
Chloe Sinclair didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
She hadn’t said a word throughout the whole farce.
For one, it wasn’t her place. For another, it was their family affair.
Chloe Sinclair smiled slightly and said, "Grandpa, the food’s getting cold. Let’s eat."
The old man looked down and saw that his bowl had been filled with more food. For a moment, his eyes stung with tears.
"Alright, I’m coming."
It was unclear which of her words had moved him, but the old man looked very happy.
The old man, who always abided by the rule of not speaking during meals, broke with tradition and talked a great deal at the dinner table.
After lunch, Uncle Pemberton said, "Old Master, it’s time for your rest."
The old man was getting on in years, and his daily rest time was fixed.
