From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius

Chapter 335: Department of Mathematics

Two men stood there, both around fifty years old and wearing thick glasses. Their hair was gray, with patches of silver at their temples.

From their appearance, Chloe Sinclair could tell at a glance that the two professors were from the neighboring School of Mathematics.

At that moment, the slightly chubbier of the two stepped forward and said, "Hello there, miss."

Chloe Sinclair quickly bowed and greeted them, "Hello, Professors."

The man was quite pleased by her gesture and replied almost immediately, "Hello. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Gordon Quinn, a professor from the neighboring School of Mathematics."

Chloe Sinclair was stunned.

She didn’t know much about mathematics, but the name Gordon Quinn was legendary.

Despite his relatively young age, he was a titan in the world of mathematics—the creator of a famous algorithm and one of the most respected figures in the field globally.

To have such a titan of his field come to see her left Chloe Sinclair more than a little surprised. For a moment, she was completely at a loss.

"Professor, why have you come to see me?"

She doubted that a titan of academia would come all the way to the School of Physics just for a simple meeting with her.

Gordon Quinn hadn’t expected Chloe Sinclair to be so blunt. He gave a wry smile.

He didn’t hide his intentions and told Chloe Sinclair exactly what was on his mind.

"We’ve all read your paper in the Mathematics Annual Journal," he said. "We think you’re an exceptionally bright student. It would be a real shame if you didn’t study mathematics."

As he spoke, his gaze was fixed on Chloe Sinclair.

Chloe Sinclair was about to speak, but Gordon Quinn cut her off.

"I know you’ve turned down many professors from the School of Mathematics, but I want to extend another invitation for you to join us."

With that, Gordon Quinn pulled a document from his portfolio and continued, "Rest assured, we at the School of Mathematics will guarantee you have plenty of time to study Physics. Take a good look at this form, and think it over tonight. There’s no rush for an answer."

Chloe Sinclair glanced down. It was a paper application for a dual degree.

She instinctively glanced over at the professors from her own School of Physics.

She said nothing.

Finally, Professor Myers spoke up. "Chloe, if you want to study mathematics, just fill out the form."

He then handed the dual-degree form to Chloe Sinclair.

Chloe Sinclair took the form, a little surprised.

It wasn’t the first time professors from the School of Mathematics had come looking for her, but in the past, the School of Physics faculty had always turned them away at the door.

For them to make such a concession now was truly unexpected.

"This..."

Chloe Sinclair pursed her lips, looking from Professor Myers to the other two physics professors. She was utterly torn.

Seeing her hesitation, Professor Myers cut in. "Alright, how about this: if Chloe Sinclair ranks first in our department on the upcoming exams, we at the School of Physics won’t stand in her way of joining your School of Mathematics. But if she doesn’t get first place, she can forget about it for the rest of her life!"

After all, what was the point if she hadn’t even mastered her own major?

Naturally, no one objected to Professor Myers’s proposal.

Chloe Sinclair agreed with the idea as well, nodding eagerly.

"Professor Quinn, what do you think?"

Professor Quinn gave a wry smile. "You’ve all put it that way. What else can I say?"

He wasn’t worried in the slightest, though.

He’d done his research before coming.

Despite frequently skipping classes, Chloe Sinclair’s academic performance was still number one in the department.

’Nothing could stop her from coming to the School of Mathematics.’

At this thought, a grin spread across Gordon Quinn’s face.

His expression almost earned him a hostile escort out the door from Professor Myers and the others.
