Chapter 377 - 205: Spendthrift Woman
Su Chen didn’t mind, though. After all, it was a kind gesture.
But the gifts immediately caught Chen Shufen’s eye. She held them, unable to put them down. Su Chen sighed to himself. ’These people really have human nature figured out.’
Seeing his mom still admiring the gifts, Su Chen left the private room to settle the bill.
The bill for both tables came to just over thirty-one thousand. Manager Li had offered a twenty-percent discount, but Su Chen refused him outright. He wasn’t short on cash; the manager’s gesture was enough.
In the end, after some back and forth, Su Chen paid thirty thousand flat.
By the time Su Chen returned to the private room, Su Zhuyun and his two brothers had sobered up considerably. At least they could stand and walk.
They were about to grab the gifts and leave when Manager Li entered with two staff members. Seeing the packages in Su Chen’s hands, he immediately took them. "Mr. Su, we’ll take care of these."
Watching Manager Li and the two staff members carry all the gifts, Su Chen smiled and said, "Sorry for the trouble."
"No trouble at all! This is what we should be doing!" Hearing this, Manager Li grinned from ear to ear.
He escorted Su Chen’s party downstairs, carefully placed all the gifts in the trunk, and then stood respectfully to the side.
Su Chen lowered his window, waved to Manager Li, and drove off.
Watching the car merge into the flow of traffic, Manager Li let out a long sigh of relief. Seeing off these important figures made him feel as if a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
He pulled a business card from his pocket, which prominently displayed Yin Zheng’s name and phone number. Manager Li muttered to himself, "The ladder up is right in front of me. Now it’s just a question of whether I can climb it!"
He gingerly tucked the business card into his wallet before leading the staff members back into the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Yin Shan and his son, who had left earlier, had already returned to the Zongyu Spring villa community. They saw six people squatting by the gate to their villa—three men and three women, from what they could tell.
When Yin Shan’s car appeared, the six squatting figures immediately shot to their feet.
Perhaps their legs had gone numb from squatting for so long, as they all nearly stumbled when they stood. They seemed to remain upright through sheer willpower alone.
"Dad, it looks like those people from the restaurant this afternoon. I even know one of them," Yin Zheng said, recognizing the lead man at a glance. "He even came to our house to pay his respects during the New Year."
’Strictly speaking, you could almost consider him one of us,’ Yin Zheng thought, his expression turning strange.
"Stop here at the gate," Yin Shan said. He knew this matter had to be dealt with; he owed Su Chen an explanation, at the very least.
Su Chen hadn’t mentioned the incident, but Yin Shan understood why. Since he had already stepped in, it was now his responsibility to see it through to the end.
The Bentley glided to a stop in front of them. Seeing Yin Shan in the passenger seat, the man leading the group rushed over.
"Mr. Yin," the man said, his head bowed in reverence.
The other two men could only stand respectfully to the side. They weren’t even qualified to address him.
"Wang Nan, you’ve really found yourself a fine wife. If I recall, you came from the countryside yourself, didn’t you? So how is it that after making a bit of money, you’ve started looking down on country folk?"
Yin Shan’s voice wasn’t loud, but his words struck the group like a clap of thunder. The faces of the two women, the one called Qin and Xiaomei, turned deathly pale.
SLAP! A crisp sound echoed in the night.
Wang Nan had spun around and delivered a vicious slap to his wife, the woman called Qin. The blow was so forceful it knocked her to the ground.
The bright red print of four fingers was clearly visible on her cheek, stark even in the dim evening light.
It was clear Wang Nan had used considerable force.
"That’s enough," Yin Shan said coolly. "What’s the use in hitting her? You think that can make this whole thing go away?" His gaze shifted to the other couple, Xiaomei and her husband, and he beckoned them forward.
The pair hurried forward and greeted him respectfully, "Mr. Yin."
Yin Shan’s gaze swept across the two couples. They all knew his next words would seal their fate. Wang Nan and the other husband felt as if their hearts were about to pound out of their chests.
After a tense thirty seconds, Yin Shan finally broke the silence.
"If you’re looking for someone to blame... you can only blame yourselves for offending someone you absolutely cannot afford to offend."
"You’ve all probably made a decent amount of money in Wudu over the years. It should be enough to last you the rest of your lives. From now on... stay out of business." With that, Yin Shan raised the car window.
Wang Nan’s expression changed dramatically at his words. In Wudu, anyone else saying something like that might be joking. But coming from Yin Shan, it was a death sentence.
He yelled desperately, "Mr. Yin, I’ll divorce that clueless bitch and throw her out with nothing! Please, give me one more chance! Mr. Yin...!"
But Yin Shan ignored him. The car drove slowly through the gates. As the gates to the villa closed, Wang Nan collapsed onto the pavement, muttering, "It’s over... it’s over... It’s really over this time."
’All these years of back-breaking work, and it all ends up ruined by my own wife.’ At this thought, Wang Nan’s face darkened as he glared at the woman called Qin.
"Goddammit! It’s all your fault, you ruinous bitch! You’re so damn blind! Why’d you have to act so high and mighty? Who the hell do you think you are? You’re from the countryside yourself, yet you look down on people from there!"
"You fucking cunt! Everything I worked for, destroyed by you, you worthless bitch!" Wang Nan screamed, grabbing the woman by the hair and slapping her face repeatedly with all his might.
After a few slaps, the woman came to her senses and began to fight back, but she was no match for a man’s strength. Amid his repeated screams of "worthless bitch," she was beaten until her face was bruised and swollen.
Just then, Xiaomei’s husband also came to his senses. He shot his wife a vicious glare, whipped off his belt, and began to lash her with it.
Xiaomei tried to run, but the man grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back.
For a moment, agonizing screams echoed through the entire villa community.
Witnessing the brutal scene, Lili, who stood in the back, let out a sigh of relief. She was immensely grateful that she had kept her mouth shut earlier, or she would have been one of the ones getting beaten now.
As she thought this, Lili glanced at her own husband, only to meet his gaze looking back at her. The look sent a shiver down her spine. ’From now on, I have to be as low-key as humanly possible whenever I go out,’ she silently vowed.
Soon, security guards from the villa community arrived. Seeing the violent scene, four or five burly guards immediately pulled everyone apart.
They began leading the four brawling individuals toward the property management office. As for Lili and her husband, they decisively claimed to be mere bystanders who had nothing to do with any of it.
