Chapter 188 - 138: Boss, the Company Is Out of Money
Zong Xinyao nodded firmly. "I understand, Boss!"
’She finally understood. Her boss wasn’t interested in such paltry sums.’
"Hmm," Su Chen said, putting down the file in his hands. A hint of a smile played on his lips as he teased, "The work report is finished. If there’s nothing else, I’m heading out!"
With that, Su Chen made to stand up.
Seeing Su Chen was actually about to leave, she quickly called out, "Boss, wait!"
"What is it? Is there something else?" Su Chen asked, feigning confusion. ’He’d already guessed what Zong Xinyao wanted to talk to him about. It had to be about holding an annual party for Vast Sea Group.’
’Otherwise, she wouldn’t have mentioned being turned down for Yunmengze’s annual party in Shanghai. This whole "rejection" was likely something she and Pei Rang had cooked up to get him to agree.’
’After all, Vast Sea Group had only been around for a month or two. It was too soon, and an annual party wasn’t really necessary.’
As expected, Zong Xinyao shot to her feet and said, "Boss, I want to hold an annual party, too!"
The corners of Su Chen’s mouth lifted slightly, but the smile vanished in an instant...
"Vast Sea Group holding an annual party? Give me one good reason to approve it."
Zong Xinyao took a deep breath. "Boss, I want to use this annual party to unite the company, from top to bottom. It will let all the employees see the company’s future prospects. By rewarding our outstanding staff, we can boost everyone’s motivation!"
Since the company was a startup, there were still many oversights. Zong Xinyao wanted to use the annual party to give the employees a clear goal to strive for—one that was tangible and within reach.
The company would grow much faster if everyone was united. They already had branches in first-tier cities; the next step was to target second-tier cities. The tangible goal Zong Xinyao was offering was internal promotion to management positions to pioneer these new markets.
For any employee, this was an opportunity to completely change their career trajectory. For Zong Xinyao, it was also a chance to scout for talent.
Su Chen understood the importance of this. If employees saw room for advancement, a good growth trajectory for the company, and decent compensation, they would only work harder.
"I’ll leave this to you. I’ll approve a ten-million-yuan event budget. Since we’re going to do it, let’s make it a huge celebration. And make the rewards generous."
"Also, no rigging the awards. The company isn’t hurting for that little bit of money."
Zong Xinyao hadn’t expected Su Chen to be so generous, approving ten million for the event budget just like that.
"Thank you, Boss! On behalf of all the employees at Vast Sea, thank you!" With a ten-million-yuan budget, Zong Xinyao could now organize a truly grand annual party.
Su Chen waved his hand nonchalantly. "It’s only right."
He glanced at the time. More than half an hour had passed, and his scheduled flight was only about an an hour away.
"Alright, it’s getting late. I need to get to the airport."
"I’ll get going then, Boss!" Zong Xinyao grabbed the file from the table and walked out quickly.
Watching her retreating figure, Su Chen murmured to himself, ’She’s already started winning over the employees. It seems Zong Xinyao is genuinely invested in the growth of Vast Sea Group.’
...........
By the time Su Chen got to the garage, Chen Fei and Aunt Tang were chatting happily.
Su Chen didn’t plan on taking the butler, Jiang Hui, with him this time. Since Su Chen would only be in Shanghai for a couple of days, he decided to have Jiang Hui stay and look after the house in the Imperial Capital.
If Jiang Hui’s family wasn’t coming to the Imperial Capital, Su Chen would let him pick a time to return to Xiangjiang for the New Year.
"What are you two talking about? You look so happy," Su Chen asked with a smile.
"Heh heh. Sir, Aunt Tang’s a grandmother now! And it’s a big baby boy, weighing a hefty nine pounds, ten ounces!" Chen Fei exclaimed.
"Oh?" Su Chen looked at Aunt Tang’s beaming face and offered his heartfelt congratulations. "Aunt Tang, congratulations on the promotion!"
"Haha! The joy is mutual!" Aunt Tang said, pulling a red envelope from her pocket. She presented it to Su Chen with both hands. "It’s just a small token. I hope you don’t mind, Sir."
Su Chen accepted it with a smile. "This is for good luck! How could I possibly mind?"
With that, Su Chen tucked the red envelope into the inside pocket of his coat.
"Let’s go. It’s getting late."
Jiang Hui drove them to the airport. If they had driven themselves, there was no telling how long the Rolls-Royce would have to sit in the airport parking garage.
Perhaps because the New Year was approaching, the airport was exceptionally busy. As they drove past the main entrance, they saw throngs of people heading inside. Taxis and ride-hailing cars were constantly pulling up to the curb to drop off passengers.
When Su Chen’s group arrived at the private terminal, they found it was no exception. While not exactly a sea of people, the waiting area was completely full.
The tarmac, which normally held only three or four planes, was today packed with over twenty smaller business jets. Among them, Su Chen’s large private jet was particularly conspicuous.
Su Chen, who had been about to walk on, stopped. He turned to Jiang Hui behind him and said, "Old Jiang, the New Year is almost here. See if your family would like to come to the Imperial Capital to celebrate. If they do, I’ll cover all their expenses. If not, then you should go back to Xiangjiang a few days early to be with them. Just expense everything from the discretionary fund."
Jiang Hui’s eyes reddened at his words. His voice was slightly choked as he said, "Thank you, Sir."
Su Chen patted him on the arm, then led Chen Fei and Aunt Tang toward the security checkpoint.
