After taking care of some miscellaneous matters, Su Chen took Chen Fei and Xiao Peng for a tour of the research base.

The tour left Su Chen quite exhausted. Even just driving around and looking at the various buildings took the better part of half an hour.

Only after experiencing it for himself did he truly grasp just how massive a ten-square-kilometer campus was.

Su Chen now understood why that security team leader wanted electric patrol cars. ’Anyone would be exhausted after a single patrol lap in this place.’

By the time Su Chen returned to the office building, the sky was gradually growing dark.

"Sir, it’s getting late. How about we go try our campus cafeteria and you can give us some suggestions?" Chen Fei asked, sidling up to Su Chen.

Su Chen, who had just been stretching, was taken aback for a moment. "The cafeteria? Sure. You know, the cafeteria is the foundation of a company. The quality of the food tells you everything about the company’s benefits!"

"Let’s go, you two managers!" With that, Su Chen gave them a look, signaling for them to lead the way.

The group of four took the elevator straight down to the first basement level.

Su Chen had been wondering why they were going to the basement, but when he stepped out of the elevator, he was stunned by the scene before him.

The entire basement level was as bright as day. As far as the eye could see, it was filled with tables and chairs. Right now, quite a few security guards were lining up for their meals.

"So the entire basement is the cafeteria, huh," Su Chen remarked, smacking his lips.

Chen Fei had noticed Su Chen’s expression earlier and now said, a little smugly, "Hehe~ we were also surprised when we took over. We never would have thought the cafeteria would be in the basement."

Su Chen glanced at him, smiled, and shook his head.

"Let’s go see what’s good." With that, Su Chen strode toward the cafeteria service windows.

The group’s arrival naturally attracted a lot of attention. When the guards saw Su Chen at the front, they all quickly put down their bowls and chopsticks, stood up, and shouted in unison, "Good evening, Mr. Su!"

The sound echoed throughout the entire basement.

The unified shout sent a thrill through Su Chen!

Suppressing his excitement, he smiled and waved his hand. "Everyone, please eat. Don’t mind us!"

SWOOSH! The crowd sat back down in unison and resumed eating, though many began to whisper among themselves.

The cafeteria’s food was laid out like a buffet; you could serve yourself whatever you wanted.

Su Chen saw that the selection was incredibly rich. There were six or seven meat dishes alone, plus a dozen or so vegetable dishes to choose from.

"Not bad!" Su Chen said, grabbing a tray and starting to serve himself.

Seeing Su Chen about to eat the regular cafeteria food, Xiao Peng quickly tried to stop him. "Hey, Sir, I’ve already arranged for the chef to make you some stir-fried dishes!"

"No need. These dishes are more than plentiful!" As he spoke, Su Chen’s tray was already piled high with food.

Seeing this, Chen Fei and Xiao Peng could only give up. They had originally arranged a seafood feast for Su Chen, but now they had to scrap that plan.

They handed a tray to the ever-silent Jiang Hui, and the two of them also grabbed trays and started getting food.

"Mm~ Not bad at all. The chef you found is quite skilled." At this point, Su Chen suddenly remembered something. He turned to Chen Fei and asked, "Ah Fei, did you ever poach that chef from Xi’an?"

He had said before that he wanted to bring that chef over to be the dedicated cook for Professor Wu and the others; he couldn’t go back on his word.

But in the end... Su Chen just nodded and went back to burying his head in his food.

Seeing this, Chen Fei opened his mouth to say something, then just lowered his head and continued to wolf down his own food.

After dinner, Su Chen didn’t stay on campus. Instead, he had Chen Fei drive him and Jiang Hui into the city. Before his trip, Su Chen had booked a sea-view hotel online, making it convenient to explore the coastal city the next day.

"I never thought the sunrise on Zheng Island would be so beautiful!"

Su Chen lay on a lounge chair on his hotel balcony, watching the red sun slowly rise over the horizon with a sigh of admiration.

Zheng Island was adjacent to Bohai Bay, and the seawater was exceptionally clear. Near his hotel was a two-kilometer-long beach park.

Watching the sun climb higher, Su Chen changed into a T-shirt and shorts, preparing to take a walk on the nearby beach and experience an early morning stroll on the sand.

Su Chen didn’t call for Jiang Hui, setting out alone.

Even though it was just after six in the morning, the beach park was already bustling with people, like morning exercisers and street vendors setting up their stalls.

COO COO COO~ Just as he reached the beach park and was stretching, preparing to walk down to the sand, Su Chen heard a cooing sound.

He glanced around and noticed something unusual on a scenic promenade not far away.

"Pigeons~" Su Chen’s interest was piqued, and he walked over briskly.

Back when he was younger, he’d been brainwashed by that song, "I’m Standing in the Square at Dusk in Prague." The scene of feeding pigeons in the music video had left a deep impression on him.

When Su Chen arrived at the promenade, he saw many morning exercisers crouching down to feed the pigeons. There was even a small kiosk set up nearby selling pigeon feed.

Su Chen spent twenty yuan on two bags and specifically found a less crowded spot.

The moment he crouched down, a dozen or so pigeons flocked around him. They tilted their heads from side to side, looking at Su Chen as if asking why he hadn’t started feeding them yet.
