Chapter 414 - 217: Discussion (2)

Pei Rang knew full well who was responsible for the company’s recent changes. This was especially true after studying the technical materials Su Chen had given him; only then did he realize they contained world-leading technology.

He had also wondered why Su Chen possessed so much advanced technology, which spanned an incredibly wide range of industries. He was extremely curious, but he didn’t dare to ask.

Since Xue Yi had been by his side, they often chatted. From these conversations, he had caught a hazy glimpse of the tip of the iceberg that was Su Chen. Even that small glimpse was enough to make him suppress his curiosity.

For a moment, the room fell silent. The only sound was the occasional rustle of Su Chen flipping through his files.

Just then, Chen Fei emerged from the kitchen with a tray. "Please, have some tea." He placed three steaming cups in front of them.

As for Su Chen, he received a glass of freshly squeezed watermelon juice.

Chen Fei’s sudden appearance broke the silence, and even Su Chen looked up from his files.

He took a sip of his watermelon juice before speaking. "I’m planning to consolidate all my companies. Subsidiaries in the same industry will be merged directly. This will reduce the number of subsidiaries, expand their scale, and lighten the administrative burden."

At this, Su Chen’s gaze fell on the three of them again. "We’ll formally establish a group company and build our own corporate headquarters!"

"So, what are your thoughts?" Su Chen leaned back into the sofa, awaiting their opinions.

Pei Rang and Zong Xinyao were still reeling from Su Chen’s words, but a flicker of excitement was visible in both their eyes.

They could tell from his words that he was preparing to formalize the company’s structure and even build a dedicated headquarters for the group. This meant they would no longer be a scattered collection of independent entities.

Although they had each been managing their own companies, they all operated under disparate names. To outsiders, it made them sound like a collection of fledgling startups. Consolidation would change that. With the group’s combined strength, they could finally establish a firm foothold in the business world.

The end goal was good, but merging subsidiaries wasn’t a simple matter. Did he think it was like a game of Tetris, where you could just slot everything together and be done with it?

If the management issues at the subsidiary level weren’t handled properly, the impact on the company’s future would be enormous. Even with great technology, who would care about growth if the company was mired in internal strife?

Snapping back to reality, Pei Rang and Zong Xinyao exchanged a look. They glanced at the silent Li Li before Pei Rang finally spoke up. "Boss, consolidating the subsidiaries is definitely necessary, but we don’t have much experience in this area. Progress might be quite slow."

Su Chen knew exactly what Pei Rang meant and waved his hand dismissively. "The subsidiaries are a small issue. As long as we keep the employees and the technology, there’s no need to worry."

"As for the management—if anyone dares to cause trouble, fire them on the spot. If we’re short-staffed, contact Aik at Korn Ferry International and have him poach who we need!"

"Faced with this great momentum, anyone who obstructs the group’s consolidation is like a mantis trying to stop a chariot!"

Hearing this, a chill went down the spines of both Pei Rang and Zong Xinyao. They understood that Su Chen’s words were also directed at them: no one was indispensable. All that mattered was whether or not you were useful.

Su Chen noticed the change in their expressions and was inwardly satisfied. A little pressure was necessary to keep the two of them from getting ahead of themselves.

"Boss, will Vast Sea Group also be consolidated under the new group?"

After all, Vast Sea Group had already become a conglomerate integrating industries like animal husbandry, transportation, and food and beverage, forming a self-contained business ecosystem. It was already on the right track.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Su Chen looked at Zong Xinyao and said, "Consolidate them. Use Vast Sea Group as the core and merge all the corresponding subsidiaries into it. I want us to make a name for ourselves in the domestic food and beverage industry this year!"

He had glanced through the files earlier. There were a dozen subsidiaries in the food and beverage sector, but none of them were very large-scale. The smaller ones had four or five branches, while the largest had only about ten.

But on the whole, they were all developing quite well. This was a perfect opportunity to leverage Vast Sea Group to quickly create their own flagship products.

"Understood, Boss!" Zong Xinyao nodded.

Vast Sea Group was, in a sense, Zong Xinyao’s own creation, built from the ground up. She was naturally attached to it and wanted to see it flourish even more.

"The three of you need to come up with a proposal for this as soon as possible. I want to see it by tomorrow at the latest. Also..." Su Chen paused, his fingers tapping a steady rhythm on the knee of his crossed leg.

Pei Rang and the others knew Su Chen was in the middle of making a decision, so they held their breath, waiting for what he would say next.

"After the consolidation, Pei Rang will remain the group’s Chief Executive Officer, or CEO. Zong Xinyao will be the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, the CFO. Li Li, in addition to being head of Human Resources, will also lead the group’s internal auditing department."

At the mention of Li Li’s new role, a peculiar gleam flashed in the eyes of Pei Rang and Zong Xinyao. They both knew what this meant. To put it bluntly, it was Su Chen’s way of putting a tight leash on the two of them.

"As for the other senior management positions, we’ll operate on a meritocratic basis: the capable will rise, and the inept will fall. The three of you can discuss the specific arrangements, evaluate the candidates, and report your recommendations to me."

When Zong Xinyao heard she would still be the group’s CFO, a flicker of disappointment crossed her eyes. She had gone to the Northwest to start from scratch precisely to prove her capabilities beyond finance.
