From Wage Slave to Tycoon

As soon as he stepped into the central courtyard, Su Chen saw someone who surprised him—Aunt Tang. He glanced at Jiang Hui, realizing it must have been him who had called and asked her to return to work.

"Sir, you’ve arrived? The food’s just been prepared. You can eat now!" Aunt Tang said respectfully as she approached Su Chen.

"Thank you for your trouble, Aunt Tang."

Su Chen had no objections to Jiang Hui’s arrangements. In fact, he was quite pleased. It showed that Jiang Hui had thoughtfully arranged everything for his return.

Exhausted and starving after a long day, Su Chen sat down and immediately started eating. Aunt Tang had prepared a rich spread: three meat dishes, two vegetable dishes, and a soup—all of his favorites.

"Ugh, I’m stuffed again," Su Chen sighed, leaning back in his chair and shaking his head in resignation.

Over the New Year holiday, Su Chen had gained a good eight pounds—all thanks to the success of visiting relatives and feasting on holiday meals.

Rubbing his slightly plump stomach, Su Chen knew he’d have to add a new project after the holidays: hitting the gym to lose weight.

"I’m going to take a nap. Remember to wake me up at half-past eight," Su Chen said to Chen Fei, giving a lazy stretch.

"Understood, Sir!"

Chen Fei even went so far as to set an alarm on his phone.

With that, Su Chen picked up Yuanbao and headed toward the rear courtyard. He didn’t go to his room, however, instead choosing to lie down on the sofa downstairs.

At half-past eight that evening, Chen Fei woke Su Chen up right on time.

Still groggy with sleep, Su Chen took the hot towel Jiang Hui handed him and pressed it to his face. He instantly felt much more awake.

Looking at the two men standing beside him, Su Chen waved a hand. "You can go now."

Both Chen Fei and Jiang Hui knew Su Chen must have something important to attend to; otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked to be woken up at this hour.

Without any delay, the two took the used towel and left the room.

After a long moment of contemplation, Su Chen finally took out his phone and dialed Xiao Chen.

He expected it to ring for a while, but the call was answered instantly, catching Su Chen off guard for a moment.

"Hello? Su Chen, why aren’t you saying anything?"

Hearing Xiao Chen’s voice, Su Chen snapped out of it and quickly said, "Brother Cheen? Can you hear me? The signal might have been a little weak just now."

’He was almost impressed by how smoothly that excuse about the bad signal came out.’

After exchanging a few pleasantries, he got straight to the point. "Brother Cheen, when is Elder Xiao free tomorrow?"

"He’s free anytime. He cleared his entire day for you. By the way, you should have an answer about that other matter, right? Elder Xiao will probably ask you about it tomorrow."

Su Chen was taken aback. ’He cleared his whole day just for me?’ The thought made him a little anxious. He had no idea what tomorrow’s meeting was really about, and it would be a lie to say he wasn’t nervous.

No matter how he thought about it, Su Chen couldn’t understand why Elder Xiao wanted to see him. ’What could I possibly have that would attract the attention of a man like him?’

’And that other matter Brother Cheen mentioned... It seems my guess was right. They want me to go to the Northeast. This might even be coming from Elder Xiao himself.’

’Well, all of my questions will be answered once I finally meet Elder Xiao.’

"Got it~ Brother Cheen. By the way, where does Elder Xiao live? How am I supposed to get there tomorrow?" Su Chen couldn’t help but be curious about where a big shot like Elder Xiao resided.

"Let me keep you in suspense. I’ll come pick you up tomorrow at nine in the morning."

Su Chen rolled his eyes. ’So mysterious.’

"Alright, then~ I’ll be waiting for your call tomorrow."
