Chapter 138 - 93: Leap in Combat Power

A seemingly useless Trick had proven to be incredibly effective in this particular situation.

The Dragon Lizardman finally realized it had outsmarted itself.

The smoke was having a severe effect on it. Its eyes stung, tearing up uncontrollably and blurring its vision.

Its powerful Talent Witchcraft couldn’t filter out the smoke, and its superb Martial Arts were useless for locating an enemy it couldn’t see.

That was when...

It was Mo Ning’s turn to counter-attack.

He zipped past the monster, executing a graceful turn mid-slide before consecutively casting the Tricks, Gale and Fire Control.

Gale erupted from his palm, forming a violent gust of air. It swept up the accumulated ash and burning twigs from the ground, hurling them toward the Dragon Lizardman.

Fire Control manipulated the scattered flames, gathering them into serpents of fire that struck at the same target from different directions.

The Dragon Lizardman may have been born with a powerful resistance to fire, but that didn’t mean the monster enjoyed being scorched.

For the first time, it was forced to flee in disarray, showing its opponent nothing but a pathetic retreating figure.

And this was precisely the opportunity Mo Ning had been waiting for.

The Wind Chasing Needle was finally unleashed.

He had already coated the needles’ surfaces with Scattering Powder—a special powder that created a diffusion effect under light, blurring an object’s outline.

Four metal needles shot forward, skimming just above the ground. Under the cover of smoke and ash, they silently glided toward their target.

Combined with the extremely poor visibility, this effectively rendered the needles invisible.

The sounds of burning trees filled the air—the CRACKLE of bursting wood, the WHOOSH of the wind, the RUMBLE of collapsing trunks. The faint whistling of the metal needles as they cut through the air was completely drowned out.

The metal needles streaked past. Splitting into two pairs, they flew toward two separate pine trees and, using the trunks for cover, executed sharp-angled turns.

Then, they shot out from behind the pines, streaking toward the monster from the front.

As it was frantically running, the Dragon Lizardman’s vertical pupils finally caught a flicker of movement in the air.

But it was too late.

The metal needles were already right under its nose, shooting upward. They were less than a meter away.

The needles were traveling at over two hundred meters per second; they would pierce its eyeballs in less than 0.005 seconds.

The Dragon Lizardman had been chasing for a long time, so its stamina was depleted. On top of that, its Magic Power and Spiritual Power were somewhat overdrawn. It was not in peak condition.

That sliver of time was far beyond the Dragon Lizardman’s reaction limits.

THUD! THUD!

Two metal needles shot forward, striking the Dragon Lizardman’s vertical pupils with perfect accuracy.

The tips pierced its eyeballs, instantly tearing through the thin corneas, penetrating the lenses and vitreous bodies, until the needles were buried completely in its eye sockets.

The other two needles precisely entered the Dragon Lizardman’s narrow nostrils, piercing the nasal mucosa and sinuses, inflicting secondary damage inside its body.

"Aaargh!"

The Dragon Lizardman let out a piercing shriek. It dropped its scimitar and round shield, clawing at its face as blood gushed from between its digits.

Standing on the treetop of a pine, Mo Ning felt the corners of his mouth turn up in a smile.

After solidifying the Witchcraft Model, he had practiced for half an hour straight, firing at least several thousand metal needles. His control over the Trick had become almost effortless.

That was why he could so easily hit the Dragon Lizardman’s eyes.

Listening to the monster’s wails, he was one hundred percent certain that his combat prowess had taken a massive leap forward.

Only he knew how much effort he had put in just to hear that one, single wail.

And the fruit of his labor felt exceptionally sweet.

’End simulation!’

Mo Ning thought.

The world froze in that instant.

He was fully prepared. All that was left was to wait for the second round of the assessment to begin.
