Garudeina Oukoku Koukoku Ki

Three-stage Argument

"Hmm... salt stockpiles..."

"Yes, I was wondering if we would run out in about two months if we maintained the current inventory, the supply pace"

Approximately three months after the reception of the new residents, when the season was about to pass autumn and winter, Georg had received a report from Nina along with Ferris in the office room of the recently expanded mansion.

The situation in the city itself is extremely good. Originally, the region's climate was relatively mild throughout the year, with no snow, and no massive stockpiles of crops because they were before winter. So is it very hot in the summer, because the lake is adjacent and the wind is coming out of it? I feel the precipitation is slightly less than in Japan.

However, on the north side of this vast forest, across the mountain range at the border with imperial territory, which is about 30 km across the lake, the average temperature drops at once. This seems to be due to the cold currents flowing along the coast of the sea facing the western side of the Imperial Territory and the westerly winds blowing through it. Further north from there is the snowland, and beyond it is the frozen sea.

"That's not a very good report."

"Yeah, unfortunately, a lot of vegetables and fish, and a small number of them, but also animal meat and eggs are now as rich as they can be produced... all salt..."

"Hmm..."

In this world, salt is predominantly used to dry, or boil and refine sea water, and when it comes to landlocked countries, its value is as much as a soldier's salary a long time ago. Nowadays, rock salt and the like are also produced in some countries, but both production and distribution fall a few steps below the salt of the sea.

And Gardina naturally does not face the sea, but its presence is neither public, nor merchants who distribute salt.

"Animal meat and blood, to a certain extent, are nutritional substitutes... but that's hard in this city."

"Yes..."

Meat currently in the hands of the city is something that the rest of us go out hunting to get, or something that occasionally processes livestock that has grown in number a little bit. And the hunters, thanks to Georg, don't have ferocious beasts or powerful demons near the city, but on the contrary, they only have small things like wild rabbits and wild birds, so they can't get a ton of meat at once.

or, and salt is not simply available between, this is a major problem.

"Try to find out if you can't get rock salt near this city..."

"Rock salt......?

"Oh, it can be found in the formations where the sea used to be, when it burst into the ground, shellfish and fish fossils are occasionally found at the top of the mountain or something, but, well, it's a similar logic."

"Ha..."

Overhead "?" Nina, I didn't teach you how to float, study geography, so I can't help it.

"If you're there, look at it, it feels like it. I don't know, if I didn't, I'd have a problem with that... Tomorrow I'll see you in the mountains on the other side of the lake..."

The lake was originally built to be surrounded by mountains, and the rocky mountain part on its south side is now completely cut off by Georg. Mountains also to the east and west, which should be subtle heights, and mountains with peaks of about 800 m on the north side. A geological survey of soil magic that I did before did not even examine rock salt for exploring ore and gemstones, but if any, that is quite a delightful miscalculation.

Incidentally, the size of the lake is about 650 square kilometres in area, about 230 km in outer circumference, about 23 km east to west in width that can be longest, and 1.2 km north to south in reverse, about 100 m deep, perhaps, in depth. slightly smaller than Lake Biwa.

"Okay, I'll take a quick look. I'll take care of the rest."

"Huh!?

"Come on in."

When Georg says so, Nina surprises Ferris just drops it off. The difference between these two reactions would be the difference in time spent together. The office is upstairs, but the two of them eventually returned to their respective jobs after dropping off wind magic from that window with a contrasting reaction

As a result of Georg's investigation, we found a place where rock salt could be picked. But it was not a mountain on the other side of the lake, but a further twelve to three kilometers north of it, in a wooded land, a mountain with few red-brown trees.

"Far......"

Back in the mansion's own room, it overflowed. It would be good to build a road that far, it would be good to build a city right around the corner, it would be good to dig a pit. But what about manpower? The city is finally settling in Gotagota due to the acceptance of new residents, education is not over yet, and we don't have the manpower to break into such a distant place in the first place.

What is more, if we leave so much, we probably will not benefit from securing a safety zone due to the presence of Georg. In other words, what lives there will always be in danger. I can never tolerate that.

But if we don't use it there, we'll have to get it later from the human country. But now we shouldn't be involved in human beings any more. It must have stood out a lot in the last collection of subhumans, and now it hasn't produced anything that could be used to trade large quantities of salt.

"Inevitable... or..."

Georg set a city that develops without itself as his ultimate goal, and now barely wields its power. Because Georg's power is useless in order to give him wisdom, experience and grow. I have to use it when it comes to swordsmanship that I teach the Guard, or large-scale city expansion, which is realistically impossible with current manpower, but otherwise I have refrained as much as possible.

"... but right, isn't the ultimate goal just the final, current state of affairs that will keep you in the process? Right now, it's a top priority to run this city."

In the end, that's what I decided.

Salt is a necessity, but engaging with humans to get it can create a lot of trouble. Even though I'm already busy, I don't want to hold any more jobs if I can, and more importantly, to properly protect and grow this city, which is still like a baby.

"I've stopped worrying about it already, it won't involve humans for a while, that's it, conclusion!

It's early if the policy is decided, and Georg stays asleep...

"Brother..."

"Hmm?"

"It's okay that I decided to do something, but, um... how long should I have my tail gripped...?

"?... oh"

When Georg, who was sitting in bed, looked at his own hand, Ferris' tail was firmly gripped there. Apparently, he unconsciously captured that tail of Ferris, who came close worried about his brother, who began to worry about him sitting in bed when he returned.

"... say something good"

"I was seriously worried about something, so I could call... a little..."

Ferris grinned as troubled, to the same brother thought, Georg

"... I'm tired today, I'm going to stay asleep"

"Huh? No, keep it up... hey... yeah!?

I caught Ferris from body to body and began to fall asleep loving those ears and tails, as I always did.

"Now I need healing, and when I stroke Ferris' ears and tails, I am healed, that is, now I need Ferris"

"Hey, even if they say something like that..."

"Zzzz..."

"You're lying!?

Thus, this evening went even further...
