Gate of Amitilicia Online

Episode 62: Forest Elf Life - 2 ~

The next person to be guided out of the training ground was the field. Nothing particularly unusual, just vegetables that can be bought in the city. I was hoping for some exclusive elf vegetables.

Then outside the village, they also have a small wheat field that they have recently begun to build. It's not like there's a harvest that can cover village consumption with something experimental, although they buy more in the city when it comes to wheat.

Even so, I don't eat that much wheat.

Says Zachris as he heads to the next place. Hmm? And the question arose.

Our staple food in real life, for example, is rice. Even if I say that the bread culture is quite pervasive, rice would be the staple food to say the Japanese. On the other hand, GAO is a western cultural style setting, so from what I've seen, the staple food is wheat. That doesn't mean wheat dominates. Like medieval Europe in real life, wheat is expensive even within this game. The flour I bought for cooking was also expensive. So in common, barley, black wheat, etc. are closer to each other, and are eaten in bread and wheat porridge.

Bread, too, is more black than white bread, which can be taken for granted for us. This is the first black bread I have eaten within GAO, but I don't personally hate the texture and taste, so some of the bread I keep in storage can be black bread. No, I prefer bread with teeth. It would be delicious if you dipped the hard bread in stew or corn soup.

Back to the point, Zachris said he doesn't eat much wheat. Then what is the staple food for elves? Is it beans or potatoes? Or unknown food?

"This is the pantry."

What was at the guide was the same high-floor building as the house. Then there is a wooden door about a meter square on the ground under the building. The pillars of the building have a proper rat return.

Get permission from Zachris, then hang the ladder and take a peek inside the warehouse. Is grain the lord here? There are some cages containing the wheat-like harvest. And there's a sack of hemp. Is this the one I bought in the city?

There are some other dried meats and vegetables that are well preserved. But there's more to it than that. That's in a cage, too, what is it?

I went into the warehouse and took it.

"Dumb, this?

He looked just like me. It's not a teardrop type, it's a round one. Confirmed in [Plant Knowledge], it comes out with Quo fruit. Is this food too? He said he was eating a bunch of ropeman, and he still seems to have a bunch of recipes. That's not funny.

But you're an elf eating munchkins... and in my head comes Zachris' face stuffed with munchkins on both cheeks...

"Buho!

And it sprayed. Squirrel!? Hey, the image of the elf collapses because I deserve it... no, it's my fault I imagined it on my own!

"What's wrong with you?

"Yes, no, it's nothing..."

I couldn't possibly be honest enough to answer Zachris's voice heard from the outside, and I misled.

Get back on your mind and go downstairs. I looked at Zachris' face and almost erupted again, but quickly missed his face and took a deep breath. Restore calm. No, I'm really sorry...

"So, what's this one?

It's a refrigerator.

Pointing to the door on the ground, Zachris answered and opened the door. There's a chilling air coming from inside. The hole is about two meters directly below. Looks like it's going sideways from there.

"You'll see inside, won't you?

Zachris descends into the ground as he says. I'm going in the hole with a ladder. With all these holes, Quinn can jump in and out, too, but she apparently stays, and didn't come down.

The horizontal hole is diagonally downward. The foot is staircase so it's easy to walk. The ceiling is high and you don't seem to have to worry about hitting your head.

The temperature also dropped as we descended. Zachris goes on with Swiss, but I wonder if elves have a good night's eye. I have [dark vision] too, so it won't be bitter to move on.

I would have walked less than a minute. There was a big space there in the basement. Chilly, the temperature is low enough to say. The exhaling breath is white, and the exhaling breath becomes white when it is cold in GAO. What a detention.

The light spread unexpectedly. A sphere installed on the ceiling emits light like a bulb. Maybe it's a magic trick or something.

There are wooden shelves and crates in the space. Seems like a lot of vegetables and fruits. Then there's booze, and there's barrels. Besides, there's a big chunk of ice in the back. Is that the source of the cold air here?

"Where did you source that ice?

"I guess I added water to the ice I brought in from somewhere and chunked it with the help of ice sperm. We still maintain ice cubes regularly."

I see. We can't even exercise ice sperm without ice in the first place, so we need the original ice. Did you use ice strewn in the winter, or did you use ice made from magic, etc.? Perhaps since the time we had the village, this is how we have protected the village's precious food.

The meat is kept close to the ice. I mean, you're frozen. The meat. There are also rabbits and bear meat in boars. Oh, you have fish, too.

"Is the food entirely shared in the village?

"What do you usually eat? Apart from that, there is also food stored in each household. We have our own preferences. Individuals get those things outside."

"Heh. What does Zachris like, by the way?

"Me? A boar for meat, a tree strawberry for fruit. And I like honey."

Hmm. You've got nothing but wood strawberries. It's like you're invited this time, so let's not give you stuff from here. Will you bring a lot of things the next time you come?

"Oh, I knew it."

And from the food in line, I found something I found out. Giant Wasp larvae. And pupae.

"Zachris, do you like this guy?

"There's not one person in this settlement who doesn't like it."

When asked by pointing to chrysalis, such an answer. Well, at the time you're eating larvae, is there any way you haven't eaten this? And if you've eaten this before, if you put your identity aside, there won't be any guys who don't want to eat it.

"But the whole village, then, is unlikely to eat."

"It's hard to gather numbers. I used it at a funeral in the meantime, so I don't have much left."

Oh, my God, did you use it then? Well, I don't have a choice. But wait, okay? I wonder how Zachris and the others are hunting those guys? If it's an efficient way to do it, it might be helpful in the future.

"By the way, what way are you hunting?

"I'm shooting the adults out of one end"

Uh, it's not helpful. There's nothing I can do about it. Fighting and hunting, numbers say things...

"Speaking of which, you said you'd hunted before. How did you do it then?

"Light a branch of Eduton and throw it into the nest hole, leaving enough road to pass only one to block the entrance. The guy who comes out crushes it every time. Feels like once the adult is wiped out by Eduton's smoke while sending fresh air into the nest hole, we'll break down the ceiling and dig it back."

"Does Eduton work? You can use it to get close to me, right?

Oh, you've already tried. The original use is insect repellent.

"The decision is to keep it sealed. If I just burned it outside, I think if I'm in a state of excitement, I'm gonna go in."

Probably have the amount of portions you need to make it work. There won't be a theatrical effect that would kill you instantly if you just took a little bath.

"But... in that way, don't you need that number of people?

"I could have gone alone. Morning is what we're after before they start their activities. Even so, I've only done it once, so there might be a more effective means. What if next time, you two try it together?

"Yes, no, just the two of us... in which case it would be a private hunt"

Oh, the look on Zachris's face has turned into something troubling. But it doesn't seem like you're up to anything unexpected? Is there a problem with it being a private hunt?

"The hunt for food in the village is organized by multiple people in an orderly fashion. Otherwise, hunting becomes private, and the harvest becomes personal. Same goes for sampling."

I mean, if you hunted with me and Zachris, that would be what the two of us would call 'mountain splitting'.

"There are quite a few edible chrysanthemums available from one nest. What would happen if they found out they got it personally..."

Uh, you know what? Does it take the form of a massive monopoly on difficult to obtain delicacies? Are you treating me like that, pupa...

"I don't mind you imitating the way you do it, so next time, why don't you give it a try with the villagers? Or you can pay some money to the village after you've hunted yourself."

"Right...... let's think about it"

But it's going to be a giant wasp pupa, an elf opponent's trump card. It looks like you should stop spreading this information to players. Listen to anything you can say as long as you bring in the chrysalis, no matter how misunderstood you are, it's arr... well, I don't know if I can get it without [dismantling] it.

"Ooh..."

When I saw the sight, my voice leaked unexpectedly.

It's a cooking alley on the corner of the village. There is more than one kamado, where the elf women cook. Cooking seems to be a joint endeavour in the village of Elves.

Kamado itself was installed outside each house, on the ground, but smaller than what was here. And you think you're going to be sourcing fuel yourself? You're clearly dividing it between village and household.

But the elf women who do the chores. I didn't know I could see a sight like this. I think it's a rare sight even for a fantasy.

The cooking itself seems almost done. I am working on serving the dishes that I have prepared. Too bad, you wanted to see where I was making it. Judging by the number of plates, it looks like they're divided for each household. Take this home and eat it.

"You make everyone's share because you manage food in bulk, after all?

"There's something about that, but there's something about saving fuel."

so that we do not consume equally and unnecessarily? I see, you're thinking.

"Oh, Zachris."

There was a woman calling out to Zachris. It's Maille, his daughter-in-law. Today was apron gear. You also apron when you cook elves. Oh, no, I, I didn't have my own apron. I'll buy it next time.

"That was just great. This is ours, so take it home."

That's what I said. Maille gives Zachris the tray with the dish on it. Maille also had a small pot with something like soup in it.

"Mr. Fist's is with us."

"Oh, thank you."

"So, I'm going to prepare some meat for your stormwolf, but usually, how much do you eat?

Maille asks me, and I see Quinn. How much, when they say... how much do you eat? When we hunted together for a day, I felt like I had two peppers behind my deer legs. Compared to a normal wolf, your body is fine.

"Oh, I'll give you Quinn's share. You eat a lot because it's big."

There's some meat I'm securing. In Quinn's case, the main meal is raw meat or something a little over the fire. So far, I don't want to eat elaborate dishes like humans eat. Except for Giant Wasp Stew.

That's fine, I'll get confirmation. Quinn nodded without looking particularly dissatisfied.

"Okay. Then let's come."

I will walk away as Maille takes the lead.

Later on, I shifted my gaze to cooking.

What Maille has is bird meat and root vegetable soup. Seasoning is based on salt. You smell good.

Then Zachris is carrying vegetable salad, something flavored and roasted with boar meat in jets, and then something like hot cake-shaped bread. Is this the staple food? Is that it?

"You're mixing flour with Maille, that bread, the fruit of Quo?

"Yeah, I am. I used to just cuo fruit, but now I mix wheat"

Dumpling pancakes, what do you mean? I can't wait to see what it tastes like. Bovine meat would also feel like fried pork miso, but let's see.

Oh, yeah. When it comes to cooking.

"Maille, actually, I need a favor, okay?

"What is it?

"Will you cook with giant wasp pupae, if you can? I'll give you the ingredients."

Perfect, and Maille stopped. Slowly, turn around this way. Oh, my eyes are shimmering. I don't know what to do!

"... you have it?

"Oh. So, I tried stewing myself, and I wanted some advice on that. Anyway, normal people don't eat giant wasps, so this is not an opportunity."

"Oh, yeah. I don't have a choice, do I? It's an offer from you, we can't split the whole village, we'll have to eat it alone."

Oh, the salutation broke. No, it's better that way. You're acting suspicious. Long ears are shaking piccolorly. If you look closely, so is Zachris. Is it an elf feature that ears shake when upset or something?

"That's what I'm saying. When you're done with Jete's planting, please."

In the meantime, pupae recipe, get it.
