Genesis & Oblivion: The Celestial Evolution System

Chapter 1 – The Day the Sky Changed

Sponsored

"Every legend begins with a day that seemed ordinary."

The bells of Saint Astra Cathedral echoed across the city just as the first rays of dawn painted the horizon in shades of gold and crimson.

The city of Elysia slowly awakened.

Vendors rolled open wooden stalls along narrow streets, the aroma of fresh bread drifted from neighborhood bakeries, and children hurried toward school while merchants argued over prices before the market had even opened.

To everyone living beneath the endless blue sky, it was just another peaceful morning.

No one knew it would be remembered as the day the world changed forever.

...

Azrael stood on the rooftop of a seven-story apartment building, his hands tucked inside the pockets of his dark hoodie as the cool morning breeze brushed against his face.

From here, the city looked alive.

Cars crawled through the streets like streams of silver.

Glass skyscrapers reflected the morning sunlight.

Birds flew freely above the rooftops.

Everything looked normal.

Yet...

Something felt wrong.

His crimson eyes lingered on the sky.

For the past week, he had been seeing strange cracks in the clouds.

Not physical cracks.

Something else.

Almost as if the fabric of the heavens had begun splitting apart.

Every time he tried pointing them out to someone else...

"They’re just clouds."

"You should get your eyes checked."

"There isn’t anything there."

No one else could see them.

Only him.

"You came here again."

A familiar voice broke his thoughts.

Azrael smiled faintly without turning around.

"I knew you’d find me."

Soft footsteps approached before stopping beside him.

Unlike Azrael’s dark clothing, Seraphina wore the white uniform of Elysia Central Academy beneath a light gray jacket.

Her silver hair danced gently in the wind, glowing faintly beneath the morning sun.

People often joked that the twins couldn’t possibly be related.

Azrael possessed black hair as dark as midnight and sharp crimson eyes that rarely revealed emotion.

Seraphina had long silver hair, gentle sapphire eyes, and a smile capable of calming almost anyone.

Opposites in appearance.

Yet closer than anyone else in the world.

"You skipped breakfast again."

She held out a wrapped sandwich.

He accepted it without protest.

"You know me too well."

"I have nineteen years of experience."

He chuckled.

"Fair point."

The two stood together in comfortable silence while watching the city below.

It had always been like this.

Whenever life became overwhelming...

Whenever exams, responsibilities, or uncertainty weighed on their shoulders...

They came here.

Their secret place.

Their sanctuary above the noise of the world.

"You’ve been having the dreams again."

It wasn’t a question.

Azrael nodded slowly.

"They’re becoming clearer."

Seraphina lowered her gaze.

"I had one too."

His expression stiffened.

"You never told me."

"I didn’t want you to worry."

"What did you see?"

She hesitated.

"...Wings."

"Wings?"

She nodded.

"Hundreds of them."

"White?"

"No..."

Her voice grew quieter.

"Burning."

Azrael frowned.

"In my dream, the sky wasn’t blue."

"It was..."

He struggled to describe it.

"...Broken."

Both twins fell silent.

Neither noticed the old man sitting on a nearby bench.

His clothes were worn.

His beard reached his chest.

To anyone else, he looked like an ordinary homeless man.

Yet his golden eyes never left the twins.

"So..."

he whispered.

"They’ve finally awakened."

Before either twin noticed him...

The old man disappeared.

Not walked away.

Not hidden.

Simply...

Gone.

...

Classes dragged on as they always did.

Mathematics.

History.

Physics.

None of it managed to hold Azrael’s attention.

He stared absentmindedly through the classroom window.

Those cracks...

They were growing larger.

A chill spread across his spine.

For a brief second...

He thought he saw an enormous pair of black wings stretching across the heavens.

He blinked.

They were gone.

"You okay?"

His best friend, Noah, leaned over.

"You’ve looked distracted all week."

"I’m fine."

"Liar."

"I’m serious."

"You’ve answered exactly three questions correctly today."

"I usually answer four."

Noah laughed.

"There he is."

Before Azrael could reply...

The classroom lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

Then...

Darkness.

Students gasped.

The room fell silent.

Five seconds later...

The electricity returned.

"What was that?"

"A power outage?"

"No..."

Someone pointed outside.

"Look."

Every student rushed toward the windows.

The sky...

Had changed.

The sun remained in place.

The clouds remained white.

Yet above them...

A gigantic golden circle stretched across the heavens.

Thousands of glowing symbols rotated slowly around its edge.

It looked ancient.

Beautiful.

Terrifying.

"What is that?"

"Is it a satellite?"

"A hologram?"

Teachers hurried into the hallway.

Phones appeared everywhere.

Within minutes...

Social media exploded.

Videos flooded the internet.

The phenomenon wasn’t limited to Elysia.

It covered the entire planet.

People across every continent looked upward in disbelief.

The impossible had become reality.

...

At that exact moment...

Thousands of kilometers away...

Inside a chamber hidden beneath a mountain.

Seven figures sat around a circular table.

Each wore robes embroidered with glowing wings.

Each possessed an overwhelming presence.

One of them slowly opened his eyes.

"They’ve awakened."

Silence filled the chamber.

"So soon?"

"It shouldn’t be possible."

"The prophecy..."

"...has begun."

Another figure stood.

"Send the Watchers."

"We cannot allow the Authorities to mature."

"If Genesis and Oblivion return..."

His voice became cold.

"...Heaven will fall."

...

The school descended into chaos.

Teachers tried calming frightened students.

Parents flooded the parking lot.

Emergency broadcasts interrupted every television channel.

"No signs of extraterrestrial activity..."

"...Scientists remain unable to explain..."

"...Citizens are advised to remain indoors..."

Azrael found Seraphina standing beneath a large oak tree near the academy entrance.

"You saw it too."

She nodded.

"It wasn’t just us this time."

"No."

Something inside him felt...

Restless.

Almost...

Awake.

His heartbeat accelerated.

Not from fear.

Recognition.

As if something sleeping deep within his soul had opened one eye.

Then...

The air froze.

Every sound vanished.

Birds stopped flying.

Leaves stopped falling.

Even the wind ceased to exist.

Time itself seemed to hold its breath.

Azrael looked around.

Everyone stood completely still.

Students.

Teachers.

Cars.

Even drifting clouds had frozen in place.

Only...

He and Seraphina could move.

"What is happening?"

Before either of them could react...

A single feather drifted from the sky.

It shimmered with brilliant white light.

A second feather followed.

Black.

Then another.

White.

Black.

White.

Black.

Soon...

Thousands of feathers rained from the heavens.

The moment they touched the ground...

They dissolved into particles of light.

A warm sensation spread through Seraphina’s body.

Azrael felt the exact opposite.

A cold darkness flowed through his veins.

Neither feeling was painful.

Instead...

They felt...

Complete.

As though they had recovered something they never realized was missing.

Suddenly—

A voice echoed across existence itself.

Not through the air.

Not through their ears.

But directly inside their souls.

"Authority confirmed."

Azrael staggered backward.

Seraphina clutched her chest.

The voice continued.

Ancient.

Calm.

Neither male nor female.

"Dual Primordial Signatures detected."

A brilliant white halo slowly appeared above Seraphina’s head.

At the same moment...

A jet-black halo formed above Azrael.

Neither noticed.

Their eyes were fixed on the impossible words unfolding before them.

Golden symbols gathered in front of the twins.

One by one...

They merged into a single translucent screen.
