The corridor stretched deep beneath the ruins.
Blue crystals illuminated the walls, casting soft light across the path.
Azrael walked at the front.
Seraphina stayed beside him while Caelan, Lyanna, and Orin followed closely behind.
Nobody spoke for several minutes.
The deeper they went, the quieter the surroundings became.
Orin finally broke the silence.
"How far down does this place go?"
Lyanna looked at the walls.
"Farther than the structure above should allow."
Caelan nodded.
"Which means this wasn’t built normally."
Azrael stopped.
Everyone immediately became alert.
"What is it?" Seraphina asked.

The corridor ended.
A massive circular door stood before them.

"We should leave."

"Let’s go."
They returned through the corridor.

"We should return before night."

They began walking back toward their camp.
For the moment, their exploration of the ruins was complete.
But Azrael kept thinking about the black stone in his storage ring.
He couldn’t analyze it.
He couldn’t understand its resonance.
And for once...
He wasn’t in a hurry to find the answer.
