Lana immediately understood. ’I almost fell for it.’

She had read countless records about ghosts.

Every ghost possessed different supernatural abilities. Some could possess living people without permission, though they are very rare.

Some could influence people. Others could manipulate illusions or create countless shadow clones.

This ghost clearly belonged to the last category. Instead of attacking the direction her instincts originally pointed toward, Lana suddenly smiled faintly.

She condensed another Mystic Ball. Then, she aimed it somewhere completely unexpected.

Her own shadow. Boom!

The instant the attack struck, a dark figure suddenly burst out from the shadow beneath Lana’s feet.

It let out an ear-piercing shriek before rapidly fleeing across the church floor. The shadow beneath Lana immediately returned to its normal colour.

Myra’s jaw nearly dropped. "Master... I truly admire you. You’re incredibly smart!"

Lana simply smiled faintly without replying.

She immediately chased after the fleeing ghost.

The ghost moved incredibly fast, slipping through walls and disappearing into complete darkness before reappearing elsewhere.

Lana refused to lose sight of it. Eventually, the chase led her toward the basement beneath the church.

The moment she stepped onto the stone staircase, her heart skipped a beat.

An unimaginably cold aura surged upward.

It was the kind of freezing sensation that penetrated directly into one’s soul.

Soon, even Lana’s fingers began losing sensation. Without hesitation, she activated her Ice Power.

A thin layer of translucent ice instantly covered her body like elegant crystal armour.

Logically speaking, surrounding herself with ice should have made her even colder.

However, Lana had discovered long ago that her Ice Power possessed an unusual characteristic.

Instead of harming her, it repelled negative energy.

The ice created a pure protective aura that naturally resisted curses, Yin energy, and ghostly influences.

To be extra cautious, she also erected a transparent defensive barrier around herself.

’Even if they destroy my barrier... my Ice Power should still protect me.’

Sure enough, the moment she finished preparing... Whoosh! Whoosh!

Two enormous shadows suddenly lunged toward her from opposite directions. Bang!

Her defensive barrier shattered almost instantly. Lana’s pupils contracted. ’So powerful...’

Her expression immediately became serious.

’These ghosts must possess at least fifteen hundred years of cultivation.’

She no longer dared underestimate them.

A brilliant Mystic Ball rapidly formed in her hand before she fired it directly at one of the ghosts.

At the same time, she pulled out an exorcism talisman and threw it forward.

The talisman erupted into dazzling golden flames.

Boom! The basement trembled violently.

Despite continuously consuming her Mystic Energy at an alarming rate, Lana showed no signs of retreat.

Only then did she finally get a clear look at the ghosts.

Both ghosts possessed pale bluish translucent bodies that emitted an eerie green glow.

They had no eyes, noses, or any recognisable facial features.

Their lower bodies dissolved into swirling black smoke instead of legs, allowing them to float silently through the air.

Whenever they became enraged, their featureless faces suddenly split open into enormous mouths filled with an ominous purple light that pulsed like a beating heart.

Their horrifying appearance would have terrified any ordinary cultivator. Lana remained composed.

She continuously launched Mystic Balls while combining them with Exorcism Talismans.

Every successful hit caused strange golden cracks to spread across the ghosts’ translucent bodies.

Clearly, her attacks were working. Meanwhile, Mr. Crow refused to remain idle.

Without hesitation, he rushed forward alongside Myra.

"We’ll distract one of them!"

The two immediately intercepted one of the fifteen-hundred-year-old ghosts, preventing it from surrounding Lana.

That was exactly what Lana needed.

Fighting two ghosts of this level simultaneously would have been extremely difficult.

The moment one ghost’s attention shifted toward Mr. Crow and Myra... Lana seized the opportunity.

She secretly replaced her Exorcism Talisman with a Lightning Talisman.

At the same time, she infused her mystic ball with her ice power, activated a fire talisman, and poured an enormous amount of mystic energy into the attack.

Crackle!

"Disappear!"

The combined attack struck the ghost head-on. Boom!!

A deafening explosion echoed throughout the basement.

The ghost let out a horrifying shriek before countless golden cracks rapidly spread across its entire body.

A second later, it exploded into countless fragments of spiritual light before completely disappearing.

Only after confirming its destruction did Lana finally turn toward Myra and Mr. Crow.

To her surprise, the two of them had already defeated the second fifteen-hundred-year-old ghost as well.

For a brief moment, Lana was genuinely stunned. ’That’s impossible...’

From her estimation, both of them should have been capable of handling only ghosts with around a thousand years of cultivation.

Yet somehow, they had successfully defeated a fifteen-hundred-year-old ghost together.

As they walked back toward her, both breathing heavily but smiling proudly, Lana looked at them with genuine appreciation.

"Good job."

Myra chuckled softly before looking at Lana with a proud smile.

"Well, it was mostly Mr. Crow. He dealt with most of the ghosts while I supported him."

Mr. Crow simply smiled modestly without denying her words.

Lana nodded before shifting her gaze deeper into the underground passage.

"Since we’re already here, let’s continue exploring."

Myra immediately became serious.

"If there’s an altar hidden somewhere here, then we might also encounter more ghosts. There could even be some eight-hundred-year-old ghosts guarding the area.

The moment those words left her mouth, both Myra and Mr. Crow heightened their senses.

After a few moments... Mr. Crow suddenly pointed toward one of the old wooden doors hidden at the far end of the basement.

"There."

Myra nodded immediately.

"There is treasure behind that door. If our senses are correct, there should be at least one Ghost Essence Crystal hidden inside."

Lana frowned. "How is that possible? Aren’t Ghost Essence Crystals supposed to be extremely rare?"

She paused for a second before lowering her eyes toward the two black ghost essence crystals resting in her palm.

’Then again... those two fifteen-hundred-year-old ghosts already dropped two Ghost Essence Crystals.’

Without wasting another moment, she carefully stored both black crystals inside her Storage Talisman before walking toward the old wooden door.
