Chapter 556: Direction Spirit
Eventually, Axel invited Lana into a separate room.
Axel looked at Lana and spoke softly.
"Now, Lana, I’m going to give you a gift for being nominated as a candidate for the International Mystic Cultivation Competition."
Lana blinked in surprise. "A gift?"
Axel nodded. "Close your eyes."
Without questioning him further, Lana obediently closed her eyes. A few moments later, she felt Axel’s finger gently press against the center of her forehead.
Immediately, a cool sensation spread throughout her entire body. It felt like a refreshing stream flowing through every vein and every corner of her soul.
The sensation was neither painful nor uncomfortable. Instead, it carried an indescribable warmth and sense of security.
When Axel finally withdrew his hand, Lana slowly opened her eyes. "What was that?"
She looked toward him, waiting for an explanation. To her surprise, Axel’s expression appeared unusually serious.
After remaining silent for a moment, he spoke in a gentle voice. "This is gift is a piece of my soul."
Lana froze. Axel continued.
"Among people who share a pure familial bond, such as an uncle and niece, a mother and daughter, siblings, and other close family members, it is possible to share a fragment of one’s soul. This allows them to sense whether their loved ones are safe and can provide protection during critical moments."
Hearing those words, Lana nodded slowly. Axel continued speaking. "This soul fragment will only activate when you are facing extreme danger."
His gaze became stern. "However, don’t start slacking off because of it."
Lana immediately rolled her eyes. Seeing her reaction, Axel could not help looking slightly speechless.
After a brief pause, he continued. "This fragment is only a tiny portion of my soul. It isn’t my complete power, so don’t expect miracles from it."
He paused before adding seriously,
"However, if you ever encounter a truly life-threatening situation, it can protect you for a short period of time. At the very least, it can buy you enough time to survive."
Hearing those words, Lana’s heart warmed. She nodded sincerely. "Thank you, Uncle."
Axel visibly relaxed. After all, he had invested a great deal into Lana.
Fortunately, she had never disappointed him. More importantly, he had already taught her most of the important things he knew.
Now, the responsibility was gradually being handed over to Lucian. Axel quietly left the room.
Soon, only Lana and Lucian remained. The moment Lana saw him standing there, she raised an eyebrow.
"Don’t tell me you’re about to teach me how to control soul fragments too."
Lucian chuckled. "Actually, no."
He slowly stepped forward. "I’m here to give you a gift."
Lana immediately became curious. "A gift?"
Lucian snapped his fingers. The next second, a strange spirit appeared in front of them.
The creature possessed a body that resembled flowing water.
Its entire form was primarily black, while patches of white decorated certain parts of its body. Most peculiar of all was a clock-like symbol embedded within its stomach area.
Its large white eyes resembled polished pearls. The moment it appeared, its gaze landed on Lana. It stared at her with complete fascination.
As though she were the most beautiful person in the entire world. Lucian’s expression darkened instantly.
He clenched his fist. "Don’t you dare think anything strange about her."
The spirit immediately let out an offended roar. It sounded almost as if it were shouting, ’You’re overthinking this!’
Before Lucian could react further, the spirit rushed forward. In a flash, it dove directly into Lana’s embrace and happily rubbed against her chest.
Lana was startled. The spirit, however, seemed completely delighted. Lucian’s face immediately darkened.
Without hesitation, he grabbed the spirit by its tail-like appendage and pulled it away. His smile looked suspiciously dangerous. "Wait a moment."
The spirit suddenly became nervous. "I think I need to replace you."
Snap. The spirit instantly vanished. Lana stared at him in disbelief. "Why did you replace it?"
Lucian said calmly. "I picked the wrong one."
Another snap echoed through the room. A different spirit appeared. This one looked completely different.
Its body was divided into black and white halves. It was round, fluffy, slightly chubby, and ridiculously adorable.
Its tiny feet barely touched the ground. Most strangely, a tail-like antenna extended from the top of its head and continuously pointed toward Lucian.
The moment Lana saw it, her eyes widened. ’It’s so cute!’
The spirit blinked innocently. Its fluffy body wobbled slightly as it floated in the air.
Lana immediately felt her heart melt. "What kind of spirit is this?"
Lucian’s expression softened slightly. "This is a Direction Spirit."
Lana listened attentively.
"As long as you give it an object carrying the owner’s aura, it can locate that person for you. No matter where they are, it will point you in the correct direction."
Lana’s eyes widened in disbelief. "That’s amazing."
She stared at the little spirit with amazement. The spirit proudly puffed out its chest.
Then it glanced toward Lucian. To Lana’s surprise, the spirit’s gaze looked strangely cool and aloof.
Almost exactly like Lucian’s usual expression. For a brief moment, she felt as though she was looking at a miniature version of him.
The thought nearly made her laugh. The next second, the little spirit floated toward her. Without hesitation, it landed on her right shoulder.
Meanwhile, Mr. Crow occupied her left shoulder. The two spirits appeared surprisingly comfortable with one another.
Lucian quietly watched the scene. For some reason, a strange feeling of jealousy surfaced inside his heart.
Even he found the emotion unreasonable. Suppressing it, he spoke softly.
"From now on, this spirit belongs to you. It will make sure that you never lose your way during your travels."
Lana looked at him before smiling mischievously. "You seem pretty upset."
Lucian raised an eyebrow. "Do I?"
Lana nodded. "Are you upset because I’m taking away one of your most useful spirits?"
She was clearly teasing him. Lucian immediately played along. "Indeed."
He sighed dramatically. "I am feeling extremely uneasy. In that case, how do you plan to compensate me?"
