He gently shook the container. "That’s most likely how that ghost controlled it in the first place. Cold Spiders are incredibly rare. Most exorcists spend their entire lives without ever seeing one. They’re exceptionally useful against both ghosts and humans."

Axel’s expression gradually became nostalgic.

"Centuries ago, during the great war between humans and ghosts, these Cold Spiders played a crucial role. If not for them... Humanity might not have survived."

Lana looked at the tiny spider with growing curiosity. "They’re really that amazing?"

"They are."

Axel nodded.

"Their greatest strength lies in their uniqueness. They don’t merely make humans feel unbearably cold. They can also invade a ghost’s spiritual body."

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"If the ghost’s cultivation is lower than the Cold Spider’s own strength... the spider can slowly freeze and consume the ghost from the inside."

Hearing that explanation, Lana couldn’t hide the fascination in her eyes.

’What an incredible creature...’

For a brief moment, she genuinely considered accepting it.

However, a few seconds later, she slowly shook her head. "I’ve already gained enough during this trip."

She pushed Axel’s hand back toward him. "You should keep it, Uncle. Tame it yourself."

Axel frowned immediately. "How can I do that? Lana, this is your spoil of war. You earned it."

However, Lana simply folded her arms and pouted.

"Uncle... So you’re not planning to listen to me?"

Axel instinctively felt something was wrong. "W-What are you planning?"

Lana smiled mischievously.

"Fine. If you refuse... I’ll call Elder Brother."

She paused dramatically. "And I’ll tell him every single secret you’ve been making me hide."

Axel suddenly stiffened. "What secret?"

Lana innocently blinked.

"Oh... The one about how you secretly eat ridiculous amounts of sugar every day even though the doctor warned you not to. And how you are teaching his little wife about romance. Also how you have separate files filled with his ridiculous pictures."

Axel’s entire face turned bright red. "You..."

He pointed at Lana with trembling fingers. "You heartless girl!"

Lana burst into laughter. "Call me whatever you want. I’m not changing my mind."

She stuck out her tongue playfully before turning around and running out of the room.

Seeing her cheerful figure disappear into the hallway, Axel could only sigh helplessly.

"That troublesome girl..."

He rubbed his forehead before smiling to himself. "I honestly wonder what she’d do without me."

However, the smile on his face gradually softened. He understood exactly why she had refused.

Lana never allowed kindness to go unnoticed. She was one of the most grateful people he had ever met.

Whenever someone genuinely helped her, she would always find a way to repay them. That was simply the kind of person she was.

Yet, his heart still ached slightly.

’If only she were a little more selfish, keeping this Cold Spider would have greatly benefited her future.’

Shaking away those thoughts, Axel stored the sealed container inside his storage talisman before following after her.

At this point, both of them had already gained more than enough from this expedition.

Lana had even begun considering ending their exploration altogether.

However, the moment she stepped inside the inn, a young girl suddenly rushed toward her.

"Sister!"

The little girl tightly grabbed Lana’s clothes with trembling hands before bursting into tears.

"Please save me! The ghost... the ghost is trying to possess me!"

She cried so hard that her tiny shoulders shook uncontrollably.

Seeing such a pitiful child, even Lana froze for a moment. She instinctively followed the girl’s frightened gaze.

Standing silently near one of the inn’s wooden pillars, was the spirit of a small child.

It had no eyes. Only two hollow black sockets remained.

Its mouth was nothing but an endless pit of darkness, while its pale translucent body continuously emitted chilling Yin energy.

A sinister smile slowly spread across its featureless face. Even Lana felt a slight chill.

However, she immediately regained her composure. Without hesitation, she took out an Exorcism Talisman.

Golden spiritual flames instantly erupted from the talisman. The child ghost shrieked. "Aaaahhh!!"

Unable to withstand the holy energy, it fled through the wall before disappearing into the distance.

The terrifying pressure instantly vanished. The little girl immediately hugged Lana’s leg tightly.

"Please... Please don’t leave me here. My father... mother... older brother, they all died after ghosts possessed them."

Fresh tears streamed down her face as she spoke. Her voice trembled with fear and despair.

Lana looked at the girl silently. She didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, she turned toward Mr. Crow. Mr. Crow understood her intention.

Closing his eyes, he carefully examined the little girl with his spiritual senses.

A few moments later, he nodded. "She’s telling the truth. There’s nothing strange about her."

Only after hearing that did Lana finally relax. She gently patted the little girl’s head. "Little sister... I can’t take another burden with me."

The little girl’s face instantly became pale. However, before she could cry again, Lana smiled gently. "But... I can escort you safely out of this village. I’ll personally make sure you reach somewhere secure. Would that be alright?"

The little girl’s eyes immediately brightened. "Yes! As long as you can take me somewhere safe... that’s already enough."

Lana couldn’t help smiling warmly. "What a sensible little girl."

Afterward, she walked toward the inn’s reception desk. She wasn’t surprised.

Inn owners rarely interfered in situations like this. If an extra survivor arrived, they earned more money.

Sure enough, the receptionist smiled politely. "Miss, would you like me to prepare another room for the young lady?"

Lana nodded. "Please."

However, before the receptionist could hand over the key, the little girl tightly grabbed Lana’s sleeve once again.

"Sister... Please don’t leave me alone. I’m scared those ghosts will come back."

Lana chuckled softly. She reached into her bag.

Although, in reality, she had quietly taken the item out of her Storage Talisman. A beautiful jade bracelet appeared in her hand.

She gently placed it around the little girl’s wrist. Smiling reassuringly, Lana said,

"Don’t worry. As long as a ghost weaker than fifteen hundred years appears... this bracelet will protect you."
