Chapter 673 - 479: The Kindling of a New Era and Entering the Doomsday World
To usher in a new era!
Such audacity!
Such ambition!
They had lived for hundreds of years and seen far too many emperors, generals, heroes, and great men.
But they had never met a young man like Raylo.
His ambition wasn’t to rule over a region or build a vast Empire.
It was to change the entire world!
At that moment, the last trace of hesitation and doubt in their hearts vanished like smoke.
Compared to ushering in a brand new era, what did so-called freedom or so-called pride even matter?
Hadn’t they pursued truth their entire lives precisely for the chance to personally touch the Power that could change the world?
"Good!"
Master Wendel slammed his hand on the table and shot to his feet.
An unprecedented, blazing fire burned in his eyes—the passion and dreams of his youth, rekindled!
"Kid, you have a deal!"
"From this day forward, I, Wendel, am Black Stone Territory’s chief Magic Consultant!"
"However, I have one condition!"
He pointed at Raylo, his tone as arrogant as ever.
"What condition?"
Raylo asked with a smile.
"The research on the ’Furnace of All Things’ must be led by us!"
"Done. The research on the Furnace of All Things will be jointly led by both Masters."
Raylo nodded without hesitation.
Mage Delin looked at his hot-tempered old friend and shook his head helplessly.
He rose to his feet and gave Raylo a slight nod.
"Lord Raylo, your dream is a grand one."
"I do not know if we can ultimately achieve it."
"But I am willing to witness the dawn of this era alongside you."
"I also accept."
It was as if the air in the dining hall only began to flow again at that moment.
Nearby, smiles of immense relief instantly blossomed on Lillian’s and Avril’s faces.
They were also happy for Raylo.
Mage Delin raised his wine glass, watching his old friend who had finally seen the light. A hint of a smile touched his eyes as he gently clinked glasses with him, producing a crisp sound.
Nearby, Master Barnaby, who had been trying his best to shrink into the background for fear of disturbing the earth-shattering negotiations, finally dared to let out a long sigh of relief.
At some point, his back had become soaked with cold sweat.
He stared at the scene before him, his heart still pounding wildly in his chest.
Two Legendary Mages!
Beings at the very apex of the Continent’s pyramid, godlike figures whom countless Emperors couldn’t hire even with immense fortunes, were actually... actually staying in Black Stone Territory to serve as chief Magic Consultants!
Master Barnaby felt like he was dreaming.
He secretly pinched his thigh, and the sharp pain told him that all of this was real.
An irrepressible fanaticism and excitement surged in his eyes.
’Choosing to join Black Stone Territory back then.’
’This was absolutely the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.’
"Ahem..."
Master Wendel cleared his throat, seemingly trying to recover a bit of his dignity as a Legendary Mage.
He put on airs, glancing sideways at Raylo, and spoke in a tone that said, ’I’m only doing this reluctantly.’
"Kid, since we’ve agreed, isn’t it time to put the exploration of that Doomsday World on the agenda?"
He was already getting impatient, eager to see this Human World that was heading toward its doom.
"Of course."
Raylo smiled and nodded, turning to look out the window. The sky was already beginning to darken.
"There’s no time to waste. You two Masters and Master Barnaby should get a good night’s rest. We’ll enter that world first thing tomorrow morning for a preliminary exploration."
"Excellent!"
Master Wendel replied crisply.
Mage Delin also nodded. His expression was much calmer than Wendel’s, but the starlight twinkling in his eyes betrayed his inner anticipation.
He pondered for a moment before adding.
"A world where the Laws are collapsing is far more dangerous than we can imagine. We know nothing about it. The first exploration should focus on reconnaissance. We must not be reckless."
"The Master is right."
Raylo agreed.
"Our primary objectives are to assess the world’s danger Level, find the reason for its collapse, and determine if there are threats beyond our capabilities."
"Teacher! Teacher!"
Just then, a clear voice cut in.
Lillian jumped up from her seat, ran over to Master Wendel’s side in a few steps, and affectionately linked her arm with his, shaking it coaxingly.
"I want to go too! Please take me with you!"
She tilted her small face up, her pair of bright, big eyes filled with longing and pleading.
"I’m already a Tier Three Advanced Mage! I can protect myself! I promise I won’t cause any trouble!"
Listening to them discuss the shattered Doomsday World, the lost Magic Towers, and the ancient ruins, her heart had long since flown there.
How could she possibly be willing to miss such a once-in-a-lifetime adventure?
However, the target of her coaxing was Master Wendel.
Wendel, who had been brimming with excitement for the upcoming exploration just a moment before, found the smile wiped clean from his face the instant he heard Lillian’s request.
His face fell abruptly.
"Nonsense!"
The harsh reprimand made Lillian’s body stiffen.
Master Wendel shook off her hand, his gaze as sharp as lightning as he stared directly at his most beloved student.
"Do you have any idea what you’re saying?"
"Why would a world be heading toward its doom? Its Laws have been torn to shreds! The space there is unstable; deadly Space Rifts could appear at any moment! The Elements there are raging and violent—even the most basic Fireball Technique could trigger an uncontrollable elemental explosion!"
