"That’s right, the Aircraft Carrier Base gave us some laptops as part of the trade!" Ren Yuanyang nodded, pointing to the boxes at his side. "They’re all in there!"

When Ren Yuanyang and his team returned this morning, they spotted other speedboats in the nearby waters. They quickly unloaded the goods and rushed back out, so they hadn’t had a chance to tell Xin Wan and the others about the trade.

Of course, Xin Wan and Hua Lingfang wouldn’t have opened the cardboard boxes on their own, so they had no idea what was inside.

Hearing this, Xin Wan’s eyes brightened. "That’s wonderful! It’s a bit inconvenient working on phones."

Ren Yuanyang gave a slight nod and continued, "All the department heads can take a laptop back with them. Remind them that these are public property of the base—they only have the right to use them!"

"Alright!" Lu Jiamei replied. She then frowned slightly. "Leader, if we’re giving everyone laptops to use, does that mean we’ll have to supply them with electricity?"

Ren Yuanyang paused for a moment, then replied, "We don’t have the resources to make electrical wires right now. Just have them take the laptops to the speedboats to charge."

The copper wires inside the cables could be created by a Gold-Type Evolver, but there was no way to produce the plastic insulation. Of course, a Wood-Type Evolver could also be used to condense a protective outer shell.

However, it was raining constantly, making the air very humid. If the wooden casing absorbed moisture, it would create a risk of a short circuit. It was possible, but it would be a lot of trouble.

For now, the laptops wouldn’t be used too frequently, so there was no need to expend so much effort on making electrical wires.

"Right, I understand," Lu Jiamei said, nodding.

Seeing that Ren Yuanyang had finished, Hua Lingfang spoke up, his face full of excitement. "Leader, the herbs you enhanced are incredible!"

He had already tested the regenerative ointment on lab mice, but using it on Yu Ren for the first time just now, he was still amazed by the results.

"It’s because your formula is so good," Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile.

Hua Lingfang shook his head firmly. "No matter how good the formula is, without quality ingredients, even the most skilled housewife can’t cook without rice. Now that we have these herbs you’ve enhanced, the future of Chinese medicine is bright!"

Hearing this, an idea sparked in Ren Yuanyang’s mind. "The Aircraft Carrier Base gave us some data this time, including quite a few ancient Chinese medical texts. You should take some time to study them."

"Ancient Chinese medical texts? Really?" Hua Lingfang grew even more excited.

"I believe so, but you’ll have to evaluate them yourself," Ren Yuanyang replied after a moment’s thought.

"Alright. Are the ancient texts in the boxes, too?" Hua Lingfang asked, practically buzzing with anticipation.

"They’re all in the computers’ database. We can talk about it after breakfast," Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile.

Hua Lingfang could only nod and patiently finish his breakfast.

"By the way, don’t forget to send some breakfast over to Haonan," Ren Yuanyang said, finally remembering that Qin Haonan was still on the speedboat watching over Yu Ren. "And for the new members—ask Si Youqin to prepare breakfast for them."

"I’ll take breakfast over to Haonan. I already told Si Youqin to make some extra!" Lu Jiamei replied.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "Alright. Why don’t you help Xin Wan compile the information on our base members."

"Yes, Leader!" Lu Jiamei answered.

Ren Yuanyang took his own laptop out of a box, then pulled out another one and handed it to Hua Lingfang.

"Ever used a computer before?" Ren Yuanyang asked offhandedly.

Hua Lingfang shook his head firmly. "Never."

"Grandpa, I can teach you!" Hua Wen immediately volunteered from the side.

Ren Yuanyang and Hua Lingfang both stared in surprise for a second, then burst out laughing.

"Kids these days are really something else!" Hua Lingfang remarked.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "They really are. They’re better with all this electronic stuff than I am!"

"So, can I teach Grandpa?" Hua Wen asked, looking at Ren Yuanyang expectantly.

"Of course. We’re counting on you now!" Ren Yuanyang replied with a laugh. "Go ahead and start by teaching your grandpa the basics."

"You got it!" Hua Wen replied excitedly.

Meanwhile, Lu Jiamei and Xin Wan had arrived at the speedboat where Qin Haonan was.

They heard Qin Haonan’s voice before they even stepped onto the speedboat.

"You’re the one who only gave me half a piece of ginger last time! No wonder you vanished the second you jumped into the water!"

"There were two of us back then. When you agreed to the trade, we broke the ginger in half. The plan was for me to trade one half with you first, and then the other guy would trade the other half with you later. We were just trying to get a little more out of the deal, that’s all."

"Two people? Still trying to lie to me? The other one was dead, wasn’t he!"

"Right before you showed up, he tried to ambush me and keep all the food from the trade for himself. I managed to kill him first! But I couldn’t control my power well back then, so I... I tore him to pieces."

"And you’re sure you didn’t eat anyone?"

"Of course not! I may have mutated, but I could never bring myself to eat another person! You can ask my men. Before the Undercurrent, we had very little food. Everyone was starving all the time, but I never once thought about eating them!"

"Hmph. We’ll see. I’ll ask them myself."

Lu Jiamei walked in and asked, puzzled, "You two know each other?"

"He’s the guy who stiffed us on half a piece of ginger last time we traded!" Qin Haonan said, annoyed. "Feels like we saved the wrong person!"

Yu Ren sounded exasperated. "I’m incredibly grateful that you saved my life—that’s the only reason I brought it up. If I hadn’t said anything, you never would’ve known we had crossed paths before!"
