Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 118 - 117: A Ship Approaches, Gold-Type Superpower

Over the past few days, Ren Yuanyang had completely covered any unrestricted water surfaces in the Banyan Forest with Duckweed.

He had also left many small paths throughout the Banyan Forest, including a full circle around the outer perimeter. Qin Haonan and the others were patrolling along this outermost ring.

Qin Haonan and Hua Wen walked along the outermost path. The wind was fierce, and waves crashed against the outer ring of banyan trees again and again.

But the Banyan Forest buffered the wind and waves, so they couldn’t reach the center of the base at all.

"Brother Nan, with the wind and waves this bad, no one would be crazy enough to come out here, right?" Hua Wen had to shout.

He had no choice. The roar of the wind and waves was so loud that a normal voice would be completely drowned out.

Qin Haonan gave a slight nod, then abruptly stopped in his tracks, his eyes fixed on the distance.

Hua Wen almost crashed right into him.

"Brother Nan, what is it?"

"You and your big mouth. You jinxed us," Qin Haonan replied, squinting. He immediately pulled out his phone to contact Ren Yuanyang.

Hua Wen followed his gaze and saw what looked like a ship on the distant sea!

The vessel was quite large, so it was still clearly visible through the driving wind and rain.

"Boss, there’s a ship approaching our base!" Qin Haonan said grimly.

"Prepare for battle. We’re on our way!" Ren Yuanyang responded instantly. He called for Lu Jiamei and the others, and they all hurried toward Qin Haonan’s location.

Ren Yuanyang quickly reached Qin Haonan’s side. "What’s the situation?" he asked.

"I haven’t seen anyone on deck. The ship doesn’t seem to have any power; it looks like it’s just drifting with the current. At the speed it’s approaching, I estimate it will crash into our forest in about ten minutes!" Qin Haonan replied, frowning.

Ren Yuanyang considered this for a moment before giving his orders. "We can’t let it damage our forest. Take the military speedboat out and see what’s going on with them. If they show any hostile intent, pull back immediately!"

"Yes, sir!" Qin Haonan acknowledged, then immediately turned and sprinted back.

Moments later, a speedboat shot out from the Banyan Forest, rapidly closing in on the ship.

"Attention! You are about to collide with our base’s forest! Slow down immediately!" Qin Haonan yelled through a megaphone.

This time, there was finally a response from the large ship.

"We don’t want to crash, but we’re out of fuel!"

Hearing their reply, Ren Yuanyang mulled it over for a moment, then gave an order. "Help them slow down and bring them alongside our Banyan Forest. Everyone, prepare for battle!"

"Yes, sir!" everyone responded in unison.

Qin Haonan immediately shouted back, "I can help you stop, but I’ll need you to secure a cable to your ship!"

"Alright!" the other party agreed readily. A single person walked openly onto the deck.

This made Ren Yuanyang frown. ’The flood has been going on for almost four months now,’ he thought. ’Are there really still people this unguarded around other survivors?’

’Or do they have the absolute strength to guarantee their own safety?’

Seeing that they had sent someone out, Qin Haonan threw the hook of his tow cable across. The person on deck caught it securely and fastened it to their ship.

Qin Haonan immediately gunned the speedboat’s engine, pulling in the opposite direction.

The ship was quite large and heavy, making it difficult for the speedboat to stop it completely. However, the pulling force did manage to slow its drift toward the Banyan Forest.

Twenty minutes later, the ship came to a stop against the edge of the Banyan Forest. It still snapped a few tree trunks, but at least it hadn’t caused widespread damage.

"Everyone in the cabins, drop your weapons and come out!" Qin Haonan, now back in the Banyan Forest, shouted. "Don’t make any moves we might misinterpret, or we will open fire!"

The people on the ship fell silent for a moment before someone called back, "We’re just passing through. We won’t disturb your base. Do we really have to come out?"

"You must come out. If you’re not out in ten seconds, we’re throwing grenades!" Qin Haonan’s tone was resolute.

Hearing that Qin Haonan had grenades, the people on board didn’t dare delay any longer and immediately came out onto the deck.

"Boss, should we tie them all up?" Qin Haonan asked in a low voice.

Ren Yuanyang shook his head slightly. "Safety first. Use the Mandala Flower."

’There are over twenty people on that ship, and there are only six of us, tops,’ he thought. ’It’s better to subdue them all first, then tie them up.’

The group nodded and immediately covered their noses and mouths with pieces of cloth.

Qin Haonan took out a section of a bamboo tube and tossed it onto the ship’s deck.

The bamboo tube landed on the deck and split in two, spilling out a number of Mandala Flowers. A strange fragrance immediately filled the air.

The survivors on the ship saw something thrown toward them and, thinking it was a grenade, all dropped to the deck.

But when they saw it was just a piece of bamboo, they were all stunned.

"What’s this? Are they welcoming us with flowers?"

"Maybe it’s some kind of special custom?"

"These flowers smell pretty nice..."

After a few brief comments, the people on the deck collapsed one after another.

Only one person remained standing, swaying on their feet but refusing to fall.

"You cowards! You used poison!"

It was a woman’s voice!

"Let’s move up!" Ren Yuanyang ordered grimly.

The group immediately boarded the ship, each person holding an automatic rifle. It was an intimidating sight.

Hua Lingfang closed the two halves of the bamboo tube and put the Mandala Flowers away. Meanwhile, Qin Haonan and Lu Jiamei headed for the ship’s cabins to check for anyone else inside.

Ren Yuanyang studied the woman who hadn’t collapsed, his eyes narrowed. "We’re just ensuring our own safety. You’re an Evolver, aren’t you?"

The woman snorted coldly without a word, but Ren Yuanyang felt the automatic rifle in his hands begin to move on its own.

"A Gold-Type Evolver!" Ren Yuanyang was surprised. He instantly understood why they had been so cooperative—she must be their trump card.

He immediately handed his automatic rifle to Hua Wen and ordered, "Take all of our guns back!"

Hua Wen nodded, quickly taking the rifles from Xin Wan and Hua Lingfang. He then jumped off the deck and ran back into the Banyan Forest.

The woman was visibly stunned by Ren Yuanyang’s actions.

’They came aboard with rifles, discovered I’m a Gold-Type Evolver, and then... they put their guns away?’

’In my current state, I can’t even control bullets. There’s no way he can’t see that!’

’He must want to capture me alive to do... those disgusting things!’

At that thought, the woman immediately focused all her Mental Energy on controlling the iron chains on the ship.

RATTLE!

The chains trembled and flew into the air.

"No need to show off your Superpower. In your current state, you should just rest," Ren Yuanyang said, shaking his head. He pulled the stem of the Spray Melon in his hand, and a torrent of seeds shot out, striking the chains the woman was controlling.

PING! PING! CLANG!

CLATTER!

The chains were knocked back down onto the deck. At such close range, the Spray Melon seeds even created sparks as they struck the metal!

The woman’s face went pale as she stared in utter shock at the Spray Melon in Ren Yuanyang’s hand.

’Such a tiny fruit knocked down the chains I was controlling!’

’Even though I’m poisoned and not at full strength, I could feel the force of those things hitting the chains. It was immense!’

’If they hit me, I’d probably be torn to shreds!’

’What is that thing?’ The woman was bewildered.

At the same time, she understood why he had put away the automatic rifles. ’So they have other weapons!’

’Weapons that are completely unaffected by my Gold-Type Superpower!’

"Are you still going to struggle?" Ren Yuanyang asked, looking at the woman.
