Chapter 802 - 158: Ghoul
"Actually, I didn’t mean for you to surrender."
Su Changxing couldn’t help but say, feeling that this skeleton’s understanding was seriously flawed. However, since both sides were opposing races, it was expected for a fight to break out.
With a crisp gunshot, the black skeleton hadn’t yet charged forward before Su Changxing shot it in the head, causing the black skull to explode into various-sized bone fragments.
Though his power was somewhat suppressed by chains, it was still incredibly terrifying for these undead.
In an instant.
A gigantic Golden Body Ancient Buddha appeared around Su Changxing, with eight heads and thirty-six arms, over twenty meters tall, its golden brightness dispelling the Darkness in the City of Decay.
Like a beam of light piercing the darkened sky.
This ability, inspired by Buddha Nature, had a strong restraining effect on undead creatures. Many weak undead were turned to ash under the golden light.
Each palm of the golden Buddha could hit away a large group of undead, some dying immediately, while others getting up after falling, starting to escape.
Facing the Undead Tide surging from all sides, Su Changxing advanced steadily along the main road through the center of the City of Decay towards the wall at the other side, without any creature being able to stop him at all.
With the blessing of Faith, he seemed to possess inexhaustible power.
Among them, there were quite a few powerful creatures, but any that emerged were individually killed by him, none able to withstand a single bullet.
Before the city could fully react, he had already slaughtered his way to the other side of the City of Decay.
Corpses lay across the land for miles, broken roads and ruins.
This was easier than he’d anticipated, standing at the location of the city gate, waiting for a long time, yet no more creatures came forward to challenge him.
It seemed fearful, the dark creatures in the city were scared, not even daring to attack again, like mice encountering a cat.
Su Changxing extinguished the Ancient Buddha’s Golden Body and walked away without looking back, sensing that the back of the city still hid an even stronger existence, not seeing necessity in thoroughly provoking it.
...
"So this is the City of Decay? Looks quite unimpressive."
Su Changxing walked in front, speaking lightly. Although having walked through such a filthy city, his clothing remained spotless.
Moonlight filtered through the gaps in the woods, like stars dotted on the ground, adding some splendor to this silent world.
Hua san followed behind, looking at Su Changxing’s back, his expression holding a bit of shock, asking uncertainly:
"Master, are you a God?"
Su Changxing turned to look at this somewhat dull puppet, "Why do you say that? I’m not of the same kind as a Divine Spirit."
Hua san showed a thoughtful expression: "I thought only a Divine Spirit would be as powerful as Master. I also thought no one could ever break the City of Decay."
Su Changxing smiled and said, "From now on, it won’t be. There’s nothing eternal."
"You should go back. The road ahead probably isn’t suitable for you."
He sensed subtle changes in the space, indeed indicating a road leading out.
The spaces of two worlds overlapped here, forming a layered space, cleverly connecting inside and outside as a passageway.
Such layered space is equivalent to a passage that permeates the world’s barrier.
Hua san looked ahead, then back at Su Changxing, with an insistent air, said:
"I want to follow you, willing to do anything if you’d take me in, Master."
She felt it was the right choice to follow Su Changxing, just like seeing light, she couldn’t help but follow it.
Su Changxing chuckled lightly, "You, a puppet, dare say such things, but if you want to follow me, then follow. You do need to change your shabby appearance."
A puppet like Hua san is actually the best material for Rune Technology. If such creatures existed in the Steam World, Eric would probably create more than Rune Warriors.
Su Changxing inherited a good portion of knowledge about Rune Technology from Eric, especially regarding Rune Warriors, likely applicable to Hua san.
Stepping outside, they saw familiar black mist covering the sky, everything plunged into black silence.
"This black mist has faded a lot." Su Changxing observed.
Immediately, the nearby jungle rustled, and more than ten Ghouls ran out, snarling viciously.
Though Su Changxing concealed his presence, being directly confronted left him little choice.
In a crushing battle, he simply swung a sword, decapitating all these Ghouls, their massive bodies breaking adjacent thick trees.
The disparity between both sides was too great, resulting in a complete crush.
Su Changxing arriving at such a place was like a max-level player entering the Newbie Village, bullying.
Then, using Rune Technology techniques, he modified Hua san’s appearance, repairing tattered parts and covering exposed skin, making her look more human-like.
"The rune patterns I inscribed on you will further enhance your combat capability." Su Changxing reminded.
Hua san appeared puzzled, "But I don’t know much about combat, nor do I have much combat experience."
Puppets, lacking a physical body, tend to keep a low profile, and other undead usually show little interest in them.
After her previous master died, she wandered and lived cautiously without purpose, causing her will to decline further.
Such creatures require a purpose, yet need others to assign it, as being created creatures, they naturally lack purpose.
Thinking this way may seem pitiable, but the truth is such.
Small sparks appeared in the continuous Darkness, conspicuous among the flames produced by the fire.
"Seems there are other humans?" Hua san turned back to ask Su Changxing.
Su Changxing nodded, "Let’s go see what’s happening."
From there came continuous energy fluctuations, signs of fighting.
By now, most humans should have become Extraordinary, meaning even the most ordinary ones can resist these undead somewhat.
"Not good, there are too many of them!"
"No one panic, just fight them, you can’t outrun them, we can only fight!"
"Kill them, even if we die, don’t make it easy for them."
Amidst chaos, someone shouted, followed by gunshots and explosions.
A group of around a hundred, armed with weapons, firearms, swords, collectively possessing decent combat force, yet facing more Ghouls, more coming continuously.
Though graveyard Ghouls are low-level undead, their towering forms reach two to three meters, with thick skins, often requiring two or three Tier Nine Extraordinary beings to handle one.
Therefore, twenty to thirty Ghouls attacking a hundred isn’t an issue, saved by a few strong individuals among them holding out so far, otherwise they’d have already collapsed.
Low-level undead like Ghouls aren’t brave but facing weak beings, they grow braver, their blood scent triggering fierceness, growing more frantic.
Su Changxing crouched in the woods nearby, observing but not acting immediately.
Among them, he first noticed a man in black combat gear, wielding a longsword fighting bravely among the Ghouls.
He was probably the strongest among the group, at about Tier Eight.
"Tier Eight probably already counts as a strong fighter." Su Changxing pondered.
The situation grew increasingly dire, a young man unable to evade, pinned by a Ghoul biting off his entire head.
Their formation broken by Ghouls would spell instant doom, yet that Tier Eight Extraordinary should be able to escape, if he decided to now.
Su Changxing was slightly surprised that the man showed no intention to flee, instead resolved to fight the Ghouls to the death.
Though not without chance, the unknown number of Ghouls meant staying likely led to doom.
Then, the man’s longsword swung faster, with black sword light slicing a Ghoul in half.
