The cacti behind the High Nuts didn’t have enough range, so they could only watch as the barbarians slowly chipped away at the High Nuts.

Once all the strange plants within the defensive perimeter were cleared out, the barbarians walked in, reassured.

Coupled with the fact that the barbarians generally didn’t have high health, the combined blasts of multiple Potato Mines were still able to kill some of them.

The barbarians probed the area a few times. Once they confirmed there were no more explosives underground, they continued advancing toward the pseudo-city.
Then they saw the second line of defense, composed of High Nuts, Potato Mines, Big-Mouthed Flowers, Charming Mushrooms, Sad Mushrooms, and cacti.
They attacked using the same tactics as before, planning to take out the High Nuts first.
Then, they discovered that this line of defense was very different from the previous one.
If the first line of defense was static, with the defensive plants merely following a routine, then this second line of defense had come alive. Not only did some of the cacti have longer range and stronger attack power, but some Big-Mouthed Flowers could even reach across an incredible distance, SLURP up a barbarian from behind the spatial barrier, and quickly retract.
The barbarians even had the illusion that the defensive plants behind the High Nuts were moving.
Of course, the defensive plants really were moving. Quite a few plant-people had entered this second line of defense.
Under the cover of the surrounding plants, they attacked the barbarians’ ranged units to their hearts’ content.
The barbarians noticed this, and their melee units rushed forward to provide cover.
Unfortunately, faced with the plant-people’s elusive and incredibly damaging attacks, the barbarian ranged units were still picked off one by one.
Once the ranged units were gone, the plant-people stopped their assault. They intended to let the surrounding plants kill as many enemies as possible, allowing them to gain experience and evolve into new plant-people.
Sure enough, without their ranged units, the barbarians stopped watching from afar. They split into groups and charged, launching an assault on the High Nuts.
The defensive plants in the rear also began attacking the barbarians.
The battle instantly reached a fever pitch.
Before the barbarians could break through the High Nuts’ defense, some of the cacti and Big-Mouthed Flowers killed numerous barbarians and gained a large amount of experience. They broke through their level caps, evolving into plant-people. Then, guided by the other plant-people, they withdrew from the battlefield.
After this second line of defense was breached, the barbarians continued to push forward, coming up against the third defensive line of Lin Yu’s territory.
The plant-people hiding within the defensive line continued to eliminate the barbarians’ ranged units. They then waited for the barbarians to engage in close combat, which would provide experience for the defensive plants and catalyze the creation of more plant-people.
In this manner, the barbarians broke through the territory’s defenses, one line after another. By the time they breached the fifth defensive line, it was already 3:00 PM.
The transparent figure looked at the neat rows of defensive lines in the distance. It knew that breaking through the plants’ fortifications in the remaining time would be impossible.
So, it turned back to report on the situation. It then relayed the Big Eye’s order to retreat, and the barbarians began to slowly withdraw in orderly ranks.
Before leaving, they carried away the bodies of their fallen comrades.

The barbarians also reaped considerable rewards, but most of the experience they gained was absorbed by the eyeballs on their backs.
