Chapter 183 - 124: The Vanished United Tribes
In less than an hour, the battle was over.
All the buildings were torn down by the energetic Demon Race heroes, then flattened by the massive Elephant Race.
After the battle, Phantom didn’t forget to order the Elemental Druids to put out the fire.
As the Divine Wood Territory’s legion withdrew, nothing was left behind.
The once-prosperous Five-Race United Tribes, with its forest of various buildings, was razed to the ground.
A gentle prairie breeze blew in from the distance. It passed over this barren land, surprised that not even a single blade of grass remained, and hurried away toward the grasslands far off.
-----------------
On the prairie, far from the Divine Wood Territory’s Teleport Point, four Teleportation Gates opened.
Troop after troop of sturdy Human Race soldiers marched out from the Teleportation Gates.
After emerging, these soldiers began marching toward the same location and quickly rendezvoused.
Lord A: "Brothers, it looks like everyone brought their A-game! Together, we can definitely steamroll that United Tribes."
Lord B: "I brought everything I have. If we fail, my losses will be devastating."
Lords C and D: "Who hasn’t?"
Lord A: "So, how should we attack? Do we each do our own thing, or do we have a unified command?"
Lord D: "We each do our own thing, of course. We’ve never trained together, and our soldiers have low trust in each other. A unified command would just be counterproductive."
Lord B: "Let’s go. We’ll head to the enemy camp first. We can test their strength before making a final decision."
Lord C: "Right. Talk is useless right now. Let’s go take a look first. Otherwise, we’ll waste even more time arguing about who should be the commander. We’ve already wasted enough time; we can’t delay any longer."
Lord A: "Alright, alright, let’s go together!"
The lords said no more, each ordering their soldiers to advance toward the target.
As they marched on, the lords began to feel that something was wrong. They summoned the soldiers and heroes who had previously scouted for their territories.
"Is the so-called Beastman United Tribes in this direction?"
"Yes, my lords."
"Then where are the tribes? How have we been marching for so long and seen nothing?"
"This subordinate does not know!"
Seeing that the scouts were completely clueless, the lords were furious. However, they couldn’t bear to punish these precious assets of their territories, so they could only begrudgingly order the army to advance slowly and remain on high alert.
Lord C: "Could it be that the United Tribes has a powerful Illusionist who has hidden their entire encampment?"
Lord B: "That makes sense. It’s highly possible. Don’t the Beastmen have Priests? Perhaps this is Magic they cast."
Lord A: "Exactly. But an Illusion Technique can only fool the eyes. Once we get closer, the illusion will be useless."
...
After some wild speculation from the lords, they concluded that the Beastmen were concealed by the Magic of a powerful Illusionist, ready to launch a fatal strike at any moment.
They ordered their armies to be wary of every rustle in the grass, guarding against a sudden Beastman attack.
The four armies advanced cautiously toward the United Tribes’ supposed location. They were on high alert for a potential ambush, but the fact that no attack came only made them more nervous.
’Where there’s an anomaly, there’s a demon,’ as the saying goes. The Beastmen must be preparing a deadly blow.
The lords hid cautiously in the center of their armies, advancing along with their troops.
The army arrived at the tribe’s former location and stepped onto the solid ground.
The lords called over their sentries to confirm again and again. Once they were certain that this flat, barren patch of land, where not even a blade of grass grew, was indeed the former site of the United Tribes, they were completely stunned.
"No, but... how could such a massive United Tribes settlement just be gone?"
...
