Chapter 209 - 132: Newcomers Again
The Cat Girl Sisters had already hidden far away the moment the three Hammer Soldiers entered the hall. They stared at the three Hammer Soldiers with terror in their eyes, their bodies trembling uncontrollably.
Catmen were a race that excelled at using their speed and preferred sneak attacks. They hated facing opponents with high defense and immense power. You could attack such an enemy for ages with little effect, but a single hit from them could be fatal.
Thus, when faced with such creatures, Catmen would typically keep a wide berth. The murderous aura emanating from the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warrior, in particular, was something the Cat Girl Sisters found impossible to withstand. They shrank into a corner, not daring to make a sound, praying that this monster wouldn’t notice them.
The Fox Maidens, however, had looks of shock in their eyes, but they didn’t hide. Instead, they circled the Hammer Soldiers, clicking their tongues in amazement.
As former members of the Balfeite Royal Family, their knowledge and experience far surpassed that of the Catwoman Sisters. They had seen all sorts of elite troops from the Beastman Race.
To be honest, when they had first come to test Li Ziyu, it was because they had been unimpressed with the combat strength he possessed at the time. They hadn’t given those Skeleton Undead and Skeleton Warriors a second glance.
But the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warrior was different. The aura it exuded was in no way inferior to the main elite forces of the Balfeite Beastman legions of the past. It was a true powerhouse!
This was especially true for the Ice Princess; the glint in her eyes was practically bursting forth.
Unlike the other three Fox Maidens, the Ice Princess’s role was combat. During times of war, she was meant to represent the Fox Race on the battlefield as a supreme commander, even leading soldiers in a charge. She had a much deeper appreciation for powerful warriors than the other Fox Maidens.
A soldier like the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warrior was exactly the type she favored most, because it offered such an immense sense of security.
After circling them twice, Mei Ji sidled up to Li Ziyu and asked in a sweet, coquettish voice, "Master, how many more of these magnificent and valiant warriors do you have?"
Li Ziyu turned to glance at Mei Ji. Seeing her eyes full of curiosity, he simply smiled, with no intention of answering her.
These Fox Maidens were once royalty of Balfeite, true administrators of that vast Beastman Empire. ’Their standards are high,’ Li Ziyu thought. ’If I said I had a hundred, they’d probably laugh themselves to death. It’s better not to answer at all.’
With a wave of his hand, he dismissed the three newly-minted warriors. The three Hammer Soldiers saluted and walked outside. From their gaits, one could tell the differences between the three unit types.
The Giant Skeleton Warrior was conventional, dragging its Square Hammer and looking more and more like a laborer. The Skeleton Hammer Warrior, on the other hand, walked with a swagger, its Hammer slung over its shoulder, looking carefree and defiant—the type you just want to punch. As for the Elite Heavy Hammer Skeleton Warrior, it carried its melon-shaped hammer with the head pointed down, striding forward with a dignified and imposing presence.
As they walked out the door, they brushed past Zhang Peng, who was hurrying over. Awed by their presence, Zhang Peng stopped in his tracks. He watched the three figures recede into the distance before running into the hall.
"Boss!" Zhang Peng shouted as soon as he entered the hall.
Li Ziyu, who was being pestered with questions by the Fox Maidens, turned his head and looked at Zhang Peng in confusion. Seeing his hurried expression, he asked, "What’s wrong?"
Seeing someone arrive, the four Fox Maidens immediately dispersed, standing obediently to the side with their hands lowered. As tactful Fox Maidens, they knew exactly how to act and when. When no one else was around, they could be a bit more audacious, and Li Ziyu wouldn’t hold it against them. Teasing their master was not only fun, but it also deepened their bond.
But when it was time for serious business, the four Fox Maidens would tacitly restrain themselves, making themselves inconspicuous to avoid causing any trouble.
Being a member of the Balfeite Royal Family wasn’t so easy. It was a vast kingdom that included all sorts of Beastman Races, so court intrigue was inevitable. Even for the Royal Family, one wouldn’t live well without being perceptive.
Hearing him, Zhang Peng quickly ran over to Li Ziyu’s side and glanced at the Fox Maidens. Li Ziyu gave him a slight shake of his head, indicating that it was fine to speak freely. These Fox Maidens were Wandering Souls bound by his Soul Coffin, so they could be completely trusted.
Since Li Ziyu didn’t mind, Zhang Peng no longer held back. With a grave expression, he said, "A ’god-tier’ player just appeared in the chat channel and made a prediction. He said the newest batch of City Lords is about to arrive."
Hmm?!
Huh?!
Holy crap!
Li Ziyu looked up at Zhang Peng in astonishment. His eyebrows first shot up, then furrowed tightly. He lowered his voice and asked, "Do you believe it? How accurate is this ’god-tier’ player? What are the odds he’s right?"
Ever since the second batch of Transmigrators arrived, he knew there would definitely be more in the future. No one knew just how many Transmigrators would end up in this world, but without a doubt, powerful individuals would emerge from every batch.
Transmigration to the Otherworld was like sifting for gold. Transmigrators who weren’t strong enough would become fodder for others, perishing and being destroyed. The powerful, however, would survive and join the struggle for supremacy in the Otherworld.
In other words, the arrival of each new batch of Transmigrators was a frenzy. The earlier arrivals could use the newcomers to increase their own Power, while the Transmigrators who survived would grow stronger and stronger, becoming new enemies.
Zhang Peng said seriously, "This ’god-tier’ player made a prediction last time, too."
Last time, many people didn’t believe the prediction, thinking it was a joke. They never expected new Transmigrators to actually show up. So this time... it’s very likely true.
’Looks like things are about to get lively again.’
Li Ziyu took a deep breath, then suddenly broke into a grin. ’It’s getting harder and harder to get by. This is a motivation for all Transmigrators to become stronger. It would be no small embarrassment to be surpassed by those who came later. That would just be a joke.’
