Chapter 266 - 151: Elites Arrive
The Hill Giant Demon, having only just made out the red figure, felt as though it were being repeatedly struck by a hammer. It couldn't stop staggering backward, its body swaying unsteadily.
Another red figure leaped with all its might, crashing into the giant's chest and abdomen. The impact knocked the wind out of it and sent its massive body flying before it crashed heavily to the ground.
The Demonized Creatures at the rear, still engaged in battle with the Skeleton Undead, were all stunned. They never expected such a sudden turn of events; the arrogant and seemingly invincible Hill Giant Demon had been taken down in an instant.
"Aargh… Damn it…"
The Hill Giant Demon caught its breath and let out a roar. Bracing itself with its thick arms, it slowly began to push itself up. Just as it raised its head, it saw a massive figure standing before it.
'A… a Minotaur Skeleton?'
Before the Hill Giant Demon could even process what was happening, a massive black object loomed larger and larger in its vision.
WHAM!
The Totem Pole slammed viciously into the Hill Giant Demon's face, caving its nose in and sending blood flying. Under the heavy blow, the giant fell backward, crashing hard onto the ground again.
After knocking the Hill Giant Demon down, the Physical Ox Demon ambled forward, Totem Pole in hand, toward the Demonized Creatures still battling the Undead. Meanwhile, from the rear, Skeleton Hill Giant Demons appeared, wielding massive Bone Rods. They walked over to the unconscious Hill Giant Demon on the ground, raised their Bone Rods high, and brought them crashing down.
THUD. THUD. THUD.
Amid the dull thuds, the Hill Giant Demon's internal organs were pulverized, and it died a brutal death on the spot.
The Skeleton Hill Giant Demons ignored the corpse on the ground. Their mission was to eliminate the Demonized Creatures currently fighting the other Undead. Menial tasks like hauling corpses were left to the weaker Skeleton Undead; it was not their concern.
Trailing shadows of Darkness, Dark Skeleton Desert Wolves streaked past the Physical Ox Demon and Skeleton Hill Giant Demons with incredible speed, leading the charge toward the Demonized Creatures. Following them were the Frenzied Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars, launching another Charge of their own.
The Dark Skeleton Desert Wolves at least had the sense to maneuver around the Skeleton Undead they could barely call allies. The Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars, however, having entered Frenzy Mode, weren't nearly as considerate. Anything in their path—be it Undead or Demonized Creature—was simply plowed through!
Although the Alien Undead were far fewer in number than the common Skeleton Undead, their assault was ferocious. It threw the Demonized Creatures, who had been fighting the other Undead, into disarray; they never imagined that such reckless brutes could exist among the slow Skeletons with their low Attack Power.
Caught completely off guard, many Demonized Creatures were slammed head-on by the Skeleton Giant Tusked Boars and knocked to the ground. Luckily for them, the boars didn't stop. After trampling them, they just screeched and continued their forward Charge, showing no intention of stopping to land a killing blow.
The Demonized Creatures cursed and swore as they tried to get back on their feet. But just as they propped themselves up, they sensed something was wrong. A look around revealed several skeleton wolves circling them. Seeing their prey trying to rise, they all opened their jaws, baring their menacing Tusks.
"Motherf—AARGH!"
In groups of five or ten, the Dark Skeleton Desert Wolves pounced on the downed Demonized Creatures and began to tear them apart savagely.
'Skeleton Wild Beasts?'
'Reinforcements for the Undead!'
Seeing the state of the battle up ahead, the Demonized Creatures pulled themselves together, ready to face the new Undead. But the assault was far from over. Amid the thud of heavy footsteps, Physical Skeleton Ox Demons appeared before them one by one.
Their towering frames, thick bones, and heavy Totem Poles were all incredibly intimidating.
'These Undead are completely different from the weaklings we were fighting before!'
Even without clashing, all the Demonized Creatures could see that these new Undead weren't on the same Level as the previous cannon fodder. Their size and appearance alone told them they would be tough opponents.
Although they looked tough, the Demonized Creatures didn't back down. Their easy victories against the earlier Skeleton Undead had filled them with confidence, and they firmly believed they could handle these newcomers as well.
'If they're this tough to deal with, then their Soul Fire must be more abundant and more useful, right?'
'The Demonized Creatures are fearless! Charge!'
After pausing for just a second, they raised their Weapons high and charged forward again with bloodcurdling cries.
In other areas, the Physical Skeleton Ox Demons might not be a match for Ox Demons with special abilities, but their defense was exceptional. Every bone in their bodies had undergone a special Hardening process. Their skulls, scapulae, forearm bones, femurs, and sternums all showed varying degrees of overgrowth, granting them immense Defense Power.
Relying on their incredibly hard bones and massive Totem Poles, the Physical Skeleton Ox Demons had no fear of the Demonized Creatures' attacks. Even when struck so hard that bone fragments flew, they could still withstand the enemy assault.
The Skeleton Hill Giant Demons at the rear strode forward with their Bone Rods, rushing to their allies' side. They swung their rods, sweeping and smashing in a grim repeat of the scene where the original Hill Giant Demon had devastated the weaker Skeleton Undead.
Empowered by the Power Magic Energy Rune, the force behind those rods was even more terrifying than that of a normal Hill Giant Demon. A direct hit meant broken bones and torn ligaments at best; at worst, it meant instant death.
"Ranged support! We need cover!"
"Where are the Archers!"
"Mages, cast Magic on that Minotaur Skeleton!"
The Demonized Creatures yelled as they fought, calling for their comrades at the rear responsible for Ranged Attacks to support them.
Volleys of arrows and all sorts of Magic flew in from the rear. The Demonized Creatures didn't rely solely on melee combat; they had their own ranged troops, just like the races of the outside world. However, these Demonized Creatures had never undergone formal training or formed a cohesive army. As a result, both the arrows and the Magic were sporadic and uncoordinated.
