Chapter 255 - 147: Piles of Bones
Demonized Creatures were powerful, their combat strength skyrocketing when they appeared in large numbers. It was difficult for the Skeleton Undead to contend with them in a confined space.
’Yeah, it was definitely worth it.’
Li Ziyu didn’t mind losing over twenty thousand Skeleton Undead. As long as he returned to the Wraith Mountain Range, replenishing them would be easy. Trading a few Low-Level Skeleton Undead for several thousand corpses capable of producing High-Level Alien Undead was a bargain by any measure!
The pile of humanoid Demonized Creatures was a mix of all sorts of Races: Humans, Beastmen, and even a motley collection of Giant Demons, Ogres, and Ghouls. Their appearances varied greatly. Some had skin the color of limestone, others were covered in black-red blood vessels, and some had cyan and purple stripes. No matter how one looked at them, they were a bizarre sight, like Demons straight out of Hell.
Li Ziyu circled the pile of corpses, then commanded an Undead to drag out a green-skinned body.
It was the corpse of a Ghoul. Stretched out, it measured about 180cm long. However, Ghouls had curved spines that made them look like hunched humans, yet they were packed with muscle. Their arms were longer than their legs, and they preferred to run on all fours.
It had a massive, hairless head with sunken eye sockets, a snub nose, and two small holes where its ears should have been. Its huge mouth, filled with sharp teeth, took up nearly half its face.
In games, Ghouls were often classified as part of the Undead Race. In this world, however, they were not. Ghouls were their own distinct Race. According to legend, they were simply the first to ally themselves with the Undead when they arrived in the world, becoming ardent supporters and a vassal Race.
’There’s no way this green Ghoul is normal.’ After the Undead dragged it out, Li Ziyu immediately ordered the system to decompose it.
[Decomposing 1x Demonized Ghoul... Obtained: 1 unit of Demonized Skeleton, 80 units of Mutated Soul Energy, 1x Plague Magic Energy Rune (Fragment)]
Holy shit!
Li Ziyu was shocked when he saw the resulting materials. ’A Plague Magic Energy Rune?!’
He swallowed hard, his skin crawling. The name alone was unsettling. ’I haven’t been poisoned, have I?’
He checked himself over and seemed to be fine. He then hurriedly ordered the surrounding Minotaurs and Catmen to scatter, telling them to keep their distance and not approach.
Li Ziyu now understood. The vast differences in the appearances of these Demonized Creatures were likely caused by the different Magic Energy Runes they possessed.
’The Undead wouldn’t care about something like a Plague, but they weren’t the only ones on the Bone Plate Platform. There were many other Races as well. I can’t afford for anything to go wrong—that would be a complete disaster. The medical system in this Otherworld is nowhere near as reliable as the one from my past life.’
Only after consulting the system was Li Ziyu able to relax. The system confirmed that since the Ghoul was dead, the Rune itself was inert and wouldn’t spread the Plague.
Li Ziyu let out a long sigh of relief, finally relaxing.
’Alright, no more messing around. I’ll just decompose everything first.’
[Decomposing 1x Demonized Minotaur... Obtained: 2 units of Demonized Skeleton, 80 units of Mutated Soul Energy, 1x Frenzy Magic Energy Rune (Fragment)]
[Decomposing 1x Demonized Jackal Wolfman... Obtained: 1 unit of Demonized Skeleton, 100 units of Mutated Soul Energy, 1x Power Magic Energy Rune (Fragment)]
...
As the system worked, the pile of Demonized Creature corpses gradually shrank. However, with several thousand bodies to get through, complete decomposition would still take some time. Li Ziyu simply added the Demonized Beast corpses to the queue as well, deciding to break everything down.
The Plague Magic Energy Rune from earlier still gave him pause. ’Damn, if I’m not careful with this stuff, something terrible could happen. Better safe than sorry.’
Watching the constant stream of messages flash across the system interface, Li Ziyu felt a wave of satisfaction. ’Nothing beats the feeling of a good haul.’
