Chapter 726: Egg-shaped Object
"Do you know how to get through here?"
Lin Ye looked at the narrow gaps between those objects and asked casually.
"...You want to 'go in'? What's inside these things?"
That voice stopped cursing at Lin Ye and asked with some curiosity.
"Aren't you here to look for this deity? You came in without even confirming where the deity is?"
Lin Ye began to detour, but all around were objects of different colors, different materials, and different shapes, with no path that led deeper.
"Deity? What are you... Oh, so that's what the organization told you."
The voice suddenly calmed.
"What do you guys call these things over there? Substance converters?"
Lin Ye tossed a bullet onto a half-meter-high water-blue object, and very quickly the bullet's material began to change, its color and shape shifting bit by bit.
"...How did you know?"
The voice asked, very surprised.
"Because I'm a deity, you idiot."
Lin Ye was of course guessing casually.
"If you know the route here, that means you must have that kind of medicine on you..."
The voice suddenly became a little clearer.
"I told you I have a lot, so why don't you believe me?"
Lin Ye stared at the bullet, calculating how long he'd survive if he charged straight over it.
"Then why don't you take it out? I can see you don't have any medicine at all.
You're just an abandoned D-Class personnel, they didn't even tell you what's down here. Once the drug wears off, you'll know how terrifying this place is."
The voice quickly returned to its original tone.
"Because messing with idiots like you is fun. As long as I don't take the medicine out, you'll never dare to make a move against me. You'll miss this chance and die here—that's your fate.
But I'm different!"
Lin Ye suddenly jumped onto that half-meter-high object, then began sprinting wildly across the various objects.
He could clearly feel his feet being transformed into other substances, his socks merging with flesh.
This out-of-control sensation was terrible, but it did not stop him. Even if his steps were no longer nimble, he could rely on his sense of balance to force his way toward the route map's Finish Line.
"Are you insane?! Stop now! If you keep going we'll all die in here!"
The cultist shouted, frantic.
"If I chose to come in, I never planned to leave alive. If you fear death, don't come to places like this."
Lin Ye kept jumping onto higher objects. His body was constantly transforming, and he didn't know how long he could hold on, but there was no turning back now.
"Damn it! Why does the organization always send lunatics like you on missions?! I shouldn't have attached my body to you!"
The cultist was about to go mad. Unlike Lin Ye, who had used the clarity solvent, it could vividly sense the horror ahead. If it continued forward, it might be turned into something else and not even be able to commit suicide.
"You're right, but unfortunately it's a bit late. You already missed the chance to get off."
Lin Ye finally reached the top of the deepest object. At the center of these objects sat a translucent egg-shaped object.
The egg-shaped object had an outermost layer of a semi-transparent, metallic-feeling membrane. Inside the membrane was a gas whose color kept changing, and at the deepest point was an object constantly shifting forms.
"...Is this the deity you mentioned?"
Seeing this strange egg-shaped object, the cultist suddenly had a bold idea.
"No, this is an idiot converter."
Lin Ye jumped from the top of the object to near the egg-shaped object. One of his feet had turned into a strange silver metal, the other into soft foam, and now he could only move using his knee joints and lower legs.
"I must thank you. Without you, I wouldn't have found this place or approached this hatching deity."
The cultist knew what it planned to do was extremely dangerous, but as long as the profit was big enough, danger ceased to matter.
"I don't believe you dare to come out."
Lin Ye inched closer to the egg-shaped object, and his body showed transformation phenomena.
"Your body, I'll take it. Enjoy your last bit of freedom."
The cultist's flesh covered Lin Ye's body surface, and its consciousness began to occupy Lin Ye's body.
"You really didn't betray my expectations at all."
Lin Ye took out the bag of orange-red powder from his chest. Before his body was fully occupied, he poured the whole bag of clarity solvent into his mouth.
After that, Lin Ye lost consciousness, and the cultist successfully occupied his body.
Lin Ye did not resist at all, and he had always been good at seizing moments.
In less than a second, Lin Ye regained consciousness. Without hesitation, with his eyes closed, he gripped the blood-red crowbar.
The cultist had already helped his body adapt to the real environment here. With that buffer, he should be able to hold on for a short time in this environment.
In the next second, Lin Ye, following the remembered position, struck the egg-shaped object with the crowbar.
Even while trying not to gather surrounding information, Lin Ye could still sense the rapid changes of his body and the presence of something enormous and terrifying nearby.
The instant the crowbar contacted the egg-shaped object's membrane, Lin Ye's transformation completed. His consciousness was about to vanish, his entire body turning into different materials, with only the crowbar in his hand remaining in its original state.
Lin Ye forcefully recalled the special mental imprint he had obtained in the Dream World. His flesh changed again. A frenzied meaning assaulted his mind, which caused his nearly disappearing consciousness to re-condense and flare into abnormal psychic waves.
"Die! Die! Die! Die!"
Lin Ye swung the crowbar wildly, trying to smash the thing before him, but he felt a tough membrane blocking his attacks.
Two different forces were transforming his body, causing his form to rapidly collapse. If he didn't do something, he'd end this simulation within ten seconds.
Lin Ye snapped his eyes open. He saw the egg-shaped object and witnessed the transformation process of all surrounding objects, and he also perceived the operational rules inside the egg-shaped object.
The whole world unfolded in his field of vision.
Lin Ye swung his right hand, throwing his right hand and the crowbar at the egg-shaped object's membrane. At a certain moment, a part of his right hand that was transforming coincided with the membrane's material.
He forced his right hand to fuse into part of the membrane, and using that chance, he pushed his right hand together with the crowbar into the membrane's interior.
