Chapter 477: Plans Goes Wrong.
Thud! Thud!
From the various houses surrounding the Horn Lizard King’s main hall, the Horn Lizard King’s Palace Guards marched out.
Their faces were twisted, filled with strong killing intent. Each was armed with heavy armor, a sturdy shield, and a deadly weapon.
They poured in from both the left and the right, surrounding Thoren and his undead servants at the center without leaving even the slightest gap.
Looking at his powerful Palace Guards, the Horn Lizard King could not help but breathe a sigh of relief.
’As long as they can hold this wretched human back, I can find a way to escape.’
It was not that he had not wanted to escape before.
But everywhere he looked, he saw undead servants staring directly at him with their eerie hollow sockets blazing with ghostly soul fire.
More importantly, his instincts screamed continuously, making him realize the danger posed by those undead servants was far more terrifying than he had imagined.
Thus, he called for his backup.
Staring at his Palace Guards, the Horn Lizard King regained a portion of his confidence and looked at Thoren with undisguised disdain.
"Human, you might be powerful with your undead, but everything ends now." He said, his deep booming voice echoing throughout the atmosphere.
"Kill!"
Without hesitation, he gave the killing command.
Howl!
The two hundred Horn Lizard King’s Palace Guards howled in unison, their overwhelming killing intent surging like a thick dark cloud hovering over the entire compound.
The atmosphere instantly became heavy and suffocating.
Against such overwhelming killing intent, any ordinary awakener would have already lost the courage to fight.
Some would have even collapsed before the battle truly began.
Unfortunately, they were facing the Grim Reaper.
"Are you trying to overwhelm me with your guards?" Thoren whispered, his voice dripping with contempt.
A faint smile appeared on his lips.
In terms of armies, if he claimed to be second in the number of soldiers under his command, no one dared claim to be first.
And yet, this stupid and ignorant Horn Lizard King actually believed he could defeat a Necromancer with superior numbers.
Laughable.
Whoosh!
Before the Horn Lizard King could launch another attack against his undead servants, the air inside the King’s residence twisted violently.
The surrounding space rippled like the surface of disturbed water.
Two more undead servants stepped out from the distorted space.
The moment they appeared...
The powerful killing intent erupting from the Horn Lizard King’s Palace Guards vanished.
No.
It did not vanish.
It was swallowed completely by the overwhelming undead aura that permeated every corner of the King’s residence.
An icy pressure descended upon everyone.
The surrounding temperature seemed to plummet.
For a brief moment, the King’s residence no longer resembled the palace of a mighty ruler.
Instead, it seemed to have descended into the underworld itself, where terrifying undead energy filled every corner.
Even the ever-present mana in the atmosphere seemed to disappear, completely overwhelmed by the dense aura of death.
With the previous undead servants added to the newly summoned ones, there were now close to five hundred undead servants staring at the Horn Lizard King and his Palace Guards.
Worse, every one of them was as strong as, if not stronger than, the Horn Lizard King’s Palace Guards.
"How is this possible?" The Horn Lizard King mumbled, his legs almost turning to jelly.
His pupils trembled violently.
He thought his plan was flawless.
But once again, he discovered he was wrong. His plan was utterly pathetic before the Grim Reaper.
Physically, he could not defeat the undead servants, so he shifted his hope to numbers.
Once again, he failed.
For the first time in many years, helplessness crept into his heart.
Despair.
He could feel the surroundign area was closing on him on every side with no path to escape.
Staring at the Horn Lizard King, who was on the brink of a mental breakdown, Thoren sneered and calmly gave the slaughter command.
"Kill." His voice was neither loud nor imposing.
Yet it echoed throughout the King’s residence like the decree of death itself.
Instantly, the undead energy inside the compound surged violently, roaring like a ferocious beast awakening from its slumber.
The soul fire burning inside hundreds of hollow eye sockets blazed even brighter.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Five hundred undead servants charged forward simultaneously. The ground trembled beneath their synchronized steps.
Watching the dense legion of undead charging toward them with their weapons raised high in the air, all the Horn Lizard King’s Palace Guards felt their legs go weak.
Their previous confidence had long vanished.
Their muscles stiffened.
Their blood turned cold.
Their hearts pounded violently against their chests and the courage they had gathered moments ago crumbled instantly.
Should they flee or should they fight to the death for their King?
Before they could make a decision, the undead servants had already arrived before them.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The thunderous sounds of battle echoed throughout the King’s compound.
Steel collided against steel.
Weapons clashed without end.
Ahhhh! Ahhhh! Ahhhh!
Miserable screams filled the air.
Like merciless killing machines, the undead servants hacked through everything that stood in their path.
No hesitation.
Only slaughter.
"Run!"
"Run!"
One of the Horn Lizard Palace Guards shouted, throwing away his weapon before turning to flee. His remaining courage had completely collapsed.
But how could he escape?
Swiss!
He barely managed to take two steps before his head was cleanly separated from his neck.
Blood gushed into the open air like a broken dam before his headless body collapsed onto the ground with a wet, sickening thud.
Ahhhhh!
Seeing this, fear and panic completely consumed the remaining Palace Guards. Many instantly lost the courage to fight.
They turned and fled in every direction, no longer caring about their duty or their King.
Slash!
Slash!
Like fish on a chopping board, the fleeing Palace Guards were cut down one after another.
Heads rolled across the hard muddy floor.
Arms and legs were severed cleanly from their bodies.
Fresh blood quickly dyed the King’s compound crimson.
Within moments, the Palace Guards’ desperate resistance completely collapsed.
As for the Horn Lizard King, he stood frozen where he was, unable to move.
