SWOOSH!

Grash’s heavy footsteps thundered through the narrow tunnel as he raced toward Kong’gong, each step cracking loose pieces of stone from beneath his feet. The old kobold’s words had struck something deeper than simple anger.

They had touched the pride Grash had spent his entire life building, reminding him of every goblin who had ever looked down on his race and every obstacle he had overcome to reach his current position.

His murderous gaze sharpened as he tightened both hands around his battle axe. If the old kobold wanted to speak about the past, then Grash would carve his answer directly into his body.

SWISH!

His battle axe descended with terrifying force, the blue lightning surrounding its blade illuminating the tunnel as it tore downward. Kong’gong merely shifted one step to the side. The weapon missed him by barely an inch and crashed into the ground, sending a violent tremor through the stone.

Before Grash could recover the axe, Kong’gong’s right arm darkened rapidly, his scales changing until they resembled polished black metal. The old kobold stepped forward and thrust his arm toward Grash’s chest with enough force to make the air crack.

Grash reacted instantly. His free hand shot forward and caught Kong’gong’s wrist before the attack could penetrate deeper, but his expression changed when he felt something pierce his chest.

Pfft!

Kong’gong’s hardened fingers had already pushed through the outer layer of Grash’s skin. The penetration was shallow, but several thin streams of blood immediately ran down the goblin’s chest. Grash looked down at the wound with narrowed eyes before slowly raising his gaze toward the old kobold.

"Elemental Body." The words escaped his mouth with disbelief.

How could he forget that technique?

The memory of Tud’or immediately returned to him. The burning crimson body. The overwhelming speed. The fists that had nearly shattered his Mana Body. The final attack that had brought him closer to death than anything he had experienced in a decade. Grash had spent years believing the technique belonged solely to Tud’or, yet here stood another kobold using the same principle.

But there was something different. The elemental energy covering Kong’gong’s body wasn’t fire.

Grash’s eyes moved toward the dark metallic arm still caught in his hand, and realization slowly settled across his face.

"Metal?" he muttered.

Kong’gong chuckled softly, though his eyes remained fixed on Grash’s hand gripping his arm.

"Of course it’s the Elemental Body. Or did you think Tud’or would be so selfish as to keep the secret of this technique all to himself?" His smile widened slightly. "The boy wanted every magical beast in this colony to learn it."

Grash’s expression twisted as his fingers tightened around Kong’gong’s arm. The strength coming from that old body was ridiculous.

Grash had expected Kong’gong to possess overwhelming magical power because of his Gold Core, but he had not expected the old kobold’s physical strength to be anywhere near this level. Even while using only one element, Kong’gong’s hardened body felt like a weapon in itself.

Grash immediately raised his battle axe. He intended to tear the old kobold’s arm from its socket. But Kong’gong’s body changed before the attack could descend.

The metallic darkness covering his arm spread across his body, then rapidly shifted into the dull brown color of earth. His scales hardened and thickened as the transformation spread, rough particles of stone breaking away from his body and falling onto the ground.

Kong’gong’s free hand clenched into a fist.

BAM!

His fist slammed into Grash’s chest and the force behind the attack was monstrous.

Grash’s body was thrown backward, his feet dragging violently across the ground as his claws struggled to maintain contact with the stone. His battle axe nearly slipped from his grasp as his body slid several meters before he finally drove the weapon into the ground.

Gggghh!

A low groan escaped his throat. Grash remained bent forward for a moment, his chest rising and falling heavily as he stared at Kong’gong. The pain was real, but the shock was greater.

He had been certain that he could overpower Kong’gong physically.

He was wrong.

The old kobold wasn’t simply strengthening his body. He was changing the properties of his body depending on the element he infused into it. Metal gave his limbs tremendous hardness and piercing power. Earth gave him immense physical strength and stability.

And this was only what Grash had seen so far. The thought made his expression darken.

"So you can change elements while using the elemental body..." Grash muttered.

Kong’gong didn’t answer. He simply stood there with his body still covered in earth, his eyes closed as always.

That silence irritated Grash even more.

The goblin slowly straightened his back and raised his battle axe with both hands. Blue lightning immediately began crawling across the weapon, wrapping around the blade until the entire edge was glowing with an intense azure radiance. At the same time, blue light began spreading beneath Grash’s skin.

His veins became visible and his muscles swelled. His shoulders broadened as mana flooded through every part of his body as the ground beneath his feet cracked.

Mana Body.

Grash’s crimson eyes burned with murderous intent as he lowered his body into a fighting stance. His grip around the battle axe tightened until his knuckles whitened.

"Alright, old man..." he growled, a dangerous smile slowly appearing across his face. "Let’s get this over with."

SWOOSH!

He disappeared and the distance between them was crossed in barely a second.

Grash appeared directly in front of Kong’gong, his lightning coated axe already descending toward the old kobold’s body. The attack was faster than before, carrying the combined strength of his Mana Body and the destructive power of his lightning cutter spell.

BAM!

The ground beneath Kong’gong suddenly erupted.

Rather than jumping away himself, Kong’gong allowed the earth to launch his body upward. His figure shot toward the ceiling just as Grash’s axe tore through the space where he had been standing.

Kong’gong’s palms immediately changed.

The brown color covering his body vanished from his hands, replaced by dark metallic scales. His fingers plunged into the stone ceiling and dug into it effortlessly, allowing him to hang several meters above Grash without any visible strain.

Grash slowly raised his head and Kong’gong looked down at him. For several seconds, neither moved.

Then Kong’gong’s voice echoed through the tunnel, but this time the warmth that had accompanied his earlier words was gone.

"I agree, little goblin. Let’s get this over with."

His fingers tightened around the ceiling. The earth beneath Grash’s feet began trembling.

Kong’gong’s closed eyes suddenly opened. For the first time since the battle began, emerald light flashed within them.
