This incident happened deep in the night, sside from the professional guards, only Adam was aware of it.

The guards’ expressions remained completely normal, as if they had seen this kind of thing happen many times before.

The next morning, Adam pretended nothing had happened and continued following the caravan, but the unfinished sentence from last night lingered in his mind.

I am not a slave, I am...

Could it be that none of the people in these crates were actually slaves? Adam then recalled someone mentioning that night that Beastburden City did not have that many slaves in the first place.

Realization dawned on him instantly, it seemed that inside these crates, there were likely many innocent people who had been kidnapped and forced to act as slaves.

These major clans truly act without reason, Adam’s expression turned slightly grim, he stared at the crates, his eyes masking whatever thoughts were running through his mind.

Another four peaceful days passed, nearby, the porters were called together.

The caravan leader began explaining the rules and precautions for entering the Heavenly Void Mystic Realm the following day.

"Tomorrow, you must all remember this, once we arrive in the Immortal Realm, keep your heads down when you walk. No matter what you hear, no matter what sounds reach your ears, do not look around, and definitely do not run around wildly."

"Otherwise, if you accidentally get yourselves killed, don’t blame me for not warning you."

"Offending an Immortal and getting beaten to death, don’t blame me for not warning you." The caravan leader’s words frightened the crowd terribly.

To think going to the Immortal Realm could cost them their lives, were those lords who became Immortals not supposed to be kind hearted people?

Hidden in the crowd, Adam remained expressionless, his only thought was for this journey to end quickly.

After the crowd dispersed, everyone went back to rest, during these past few days, Adam had made no special effort to make friends, he simply disguised himself as an introverted, honest, and submissive man, even when someone approached him to strike up conversation, he would only offer a reserved smile.

Gradually, he was labeled a boring, quiet fellow, and people stopped seeking him out.

Late at night, Adam leaned against one of the carriages, his eyes slowly opening, he looked up at a specific crate on the adjacent carriage.

Inside, another person had woken up, but soon Adam’s brows furrowed, because his divine soul sensed that the person inside was a little girl, she was not old, eight or nine years at most.

Inside the crate, Eunice looked around at the pitch black darkness, a flash of panic appeared on her dirt-smudged little face as her small hands quickly felt all over her body.

Discovering that she was not missing any arms or legs, the panic on her face settled slightly, but her eyes were still brimming with anxiety.

She remembered that while fighting over a bucket of slops thrown out by a wealthy household, she had been knocked unconscious by another beggar.

Where is this? How long have I been unconscious? I need to hurry back, brother must be starving by now.

She reached out and felt her surroundings, a crate?

There was a hole, she wiggled her small body, pressing her eye against it.

Outside was completely dark, with only a few distant torches providing light, all she could make out were some trees and rocks.

The wilderness? Was I locked up and brought out to the wilderness? But why kidnap me? I did not do anything wrong.

Wait, am I on a carriage? Carriage, crates, I am being transported away.

Eunice’s already large eyes widened even further, brother!

Because of her small stature, she was actually able to stand up inside the crate.

After getting to her feet, she placed both hands against the side panel, intending to push herself off the carriage.

She pushed, and the crate wobbled slightly, her eyes lit up.

There was a chance, she was about to push again, but this time the wooden crate suddenly felt as if it had turned to solid iron, it would not budge an inch.

What is going on? Her tiny brows knitted together.

"Don’t move, or you will die." A voice rang out directly beside her ear.

It gave her a massive fright. "Who is it?" She shrank back into a corner.

"Who I am isn’t important, what’s important is that you’ve been kidnapped. If you make any noise and the guards discover you, you might die."

"Die? Why? I didn’t do anything bad!" Eunice’s small face scrunched up.

"Because the people guarding you don’t want your existence exposed."

"What does that mean?" Eunice did not understand.

"Because you are all going to be transported to a certain place. Until you reach that place, none of you are allowed to wake up, much less expose yourselves." Adam continued speaking to her through telepathy.

"Can I just not go? I still have a little brother waiting for me, he is only six years old, without me, he’ll starve to death." Eunice suddenly knelt inside the crate and pleaded.

"You are orphans? Where is your little brother?" Adam frowned and asked.

"Yes, Great Immortal, my little brother is in Beastburden City, umm, Great Immortal, can I ask you a question?" Eunice asked somewhat nervously.

"Ask."

"How many days have I been unconscious?"

Adam fell silent. It had already been nine days since they departed from Beastburden City, he had no idea when the little girl was kidnapped.

The actual time she had been unconscious was only longer than that, he did not know how a six year old boy was supposed to survive nine days on his own.

"It has been nine days since we left Beastburden City." Despite everything, he still told the little girl the truth.

"No, no." Eunice’s small face instantly turned deathly pale.

"No, that’s impossible, how could I have been unconscious for so long?" She shook her head without stopping, refusing to believe this reality.

"You aren’t in a normal state of unconsciousness, you were fed a drug." Adam sighed.

"Great Immortal, I beg you, can you please let me out? I need to go back and find my little brother, he is only six!" Inside the pitch-black crate, Eunice began to kowtow repeatedly.

"Great Immortal, I beg you, let me out! My little brother is my only family left!"
