"Why? How long have we even known the Chief for you to trust him this much?" Kael frowned, not understanding why she was arguing with him when he actually supported her idea to leave.

"Because the Chief is a good person, since he could bring us out of the Spirit-Forsaken Land, he won’t abandon us!" Ava stated firmly.

"However, I don’t want to just sit here and wait for death either, this place is so strange, how could such a huge city turn into something like this?"

Ava and the others had snuck out this time because they wanted to experience the colorful outside world.

Yes, they had left the Spirit-Forsaken Land, but they just ended up on a small island, after playing around for a few days, they were already bored.

After learning that the outside world was full of countless novelties, they couldn’t hold themselves back anymore, but upon sneaking out to take a look, they found the situation to be like this.

Play around? What a joke, they were about to lose their little lives.

"Ava..." Sarah still wanted to persuade her otherwise, but was abruptly cut off by Kael.

"Cut the crap, let’s stick to the old rules and put it to a vote!"

"Alright, those in favor of going out, raise your hands!" Ava declared directly.

Kael and Ava both raised their hands immediately. Sarah and the little boy missing a front tooth exchanged a glance, helplessness flashing in their eyes, before they ultimately and slowly raised their hands as well.

Ever since they had known each other, they had voted by a show of hands countless times, but in the end, it was always the two of them compromising for the other two.

"Good, now let’s make a plan." Ava gathered everyone around.

"In a bit, I’ll walk at the very front, Sarah and Azel will walk in the middle..."

"Kael, you bring up the rear, if there’s any situation, no matter what it is, report it immediately!" Ava continued.

The four little brats’ plan was extremely simple, after finishing their discussion, they all took out their slingshots and held them tightly at the ready.

"Alright, are you prepared? We’re heading out!" Ava asked, taking a deep breath.

"Mhm!" The other three nodded, took deep breaths as well, and slowly moved toward the door.

The four slowly pushed the door open, poked their heads out, and peered outside, it still felt chilly, but fortunately, there were none of those terrifying things on the street.

"Let’s go!" Seeing this, Ava breathed a sigh of relief and took the lead.

The other three hurriedly followed.

"Keep it down, don’t make a sound!" Ava reminded them in a whisper as they walked.

Even though the Chief had said their physiques were special and those terrifying things couldn’t sense them, it was still better to be careful.

"Mhm!" The other three nodded and lightened their footsteps, trailing closely behind Ava.

Suddenly, a sinister wind swept past, and a faint growl came from the corner just ahead.

"Not good, hide quickly!" Ava’s expression changed, she instantly grabbed Sarah and ducked into an adjacent room.

Kael and Azel hastily followed them inside and shut the door tight.

A gust of eerie wind blew past, and a scalp-numbing chorus of guttural roars echoed from the street outside their door.

"Oh no, it’s those terrifying things!" Azel whispered, his face deathly pale.

"Don’t make a sound!" Ava frowned.

Azel immediately clamped both hands over his mouth, although he was terrified, he knew he absolutely couldn’t attract the monsters over.

Fortunately, the commotion quickly moved away, after waiting a while longer to confirm there was no more activity outside, the four slowly stepped back out.

After that, they were quite lucky, along the rest of the way, they didn’t encounter any more terrifying things.

More than half an hour later, they finally spotted the ship anchored at the distant docks.

"That’s wonderful, we’re almost there!" Ava said excitedly.

"Let’s hurry!" After speaking, she picked up her pace, and the other three hurriedly followed suit.

Looking at the ship that was right within their reach, joy filled all their eyes.

Meanwhile, far behind the four little brats, countless black shadows materialized within the city, each holding a pitch-black crystal in their hands.

"Release, reversal!" The young girl hovering in the sky ended her wait, letting out a soft shout.

The crystals in the hands of all the shadows plummeted into the city, simultaneously, the young girl formed hand seals, connecting with all the black crystals below.

Instantly, a massive tide of dark light surged from the ground, fully enveloping the entirety of Hundred Rivers City.

The young girl immediately dropped to her knees in mid-air, bowing her head piously in a specific direction.

The black shadows also appeared behind her, just like the young girl, they knelt and bowed reverently in the same direction.

With the black light shrouding the city, the temperature seemed to plummet even further.

Starting from their foundations, all the buildings were saturated by an inexplicable, creeping blackness.

Then the entire structures turned pitch-black, looking like absolute haunted houses.

The paving stones on the ground underwent the same sinister transformation, but what was even more bizarre was that right above those stones, the originally vanished residents of Hundred Rivers City actually reappeared one by one.

Their bodies had become translucent, taking on a ghastly cyan-black hue, their eyes were vacant and dull, and their steps were floating and weightless.

Astonishingly, they had all been turned into ghosts.

In this very moment, the prosperous Hundred Rivers City was transformed into a terrifying ghost city, it had been restored to its former bustling state, but in this horrific, macabre manner.

After these ghosts appeared, they knelt down one after another toward the exact same direction the girl and the shadows were bowing, without a single exception.

A loud boom that resounded in the very depths of the soul echoed from the location of the City Lord’s Manor.

A massive cyan-black palace slowly rose from the earth, and at the very top of the palace, a majestic throne hovered in mid-air.

Sitting upon it was a man wearing a dark crown, his posture seemed eternal and unchanging, radiating the oppressive weight of a towering mountain.

At this moment, all the ghostly entities chanted in perfect unison.

"Respectfully welcoming the Great Emperor’s descent to the Yang Realm!"
