Chapter 275
Humans always held an inexplicable reverence for things they didn’t understand.
The same was true for Immortals.
Whenever people encountered matters they couldn’t explain, they would attribute the cause to another inexplicable entity.
Even though he had once visited a place called the Immortal Burial Ancient Tomb alongside seniors from the Sword Sect, he still couldn’t say for certain that Immortals truly existed.
Adam felt puzzled, but he knew his current strength was still too weak, even if Immortals truly existed, he had no way to investigate the mysteries behind them.
Therefore, he calmed his mind and decided to focus on the task at hand, he would visit that Path to Immortality only after his strength had improved.
However, as for the Immortal Burial Ancient Tomb, now that his strength had increased, Adam planned to go back and try his luck again.
That had been his original plan all along, which was why he had been searching for information about Immortals in the Book Saint’s notes.
"Young Master, where are we going next?" Cecilia asked, standing beside him.
"Back to the Silver Willow dynasty!" Adam spoke calmly.
"The Silver Willow?" Cecilia’s delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly.
"Will it be dangerous? The Nova Clan should be keeping a very close watch on the Silver Willow!"
Cecilia was worried, the Nova Clan now hated the Young Master to the bone, once they found an opportunity, it could lead to an abyss of misery.
"Don’t worry, the Saint Body of Dual Pupils is dead, there should be no one in the Nova Clan capable of seeing through our disguises anymore, as long as we have suitable identities, there won’t be any problems!" Adam shook his head, he wasn’t overly concerned.
He had arrived in this world only a short time ago.
Truth be told, he didn’t have many contacts, so if he wanted to find people he could trust, he had to return to the Silver Willow, he had lived there for a long time, and there were still a few people he could rely on.
Furthermore, since the Immortal Burial Ancient Tomb was located there, he had to return regardless.
"Alright, Young Master!" Although Cecilia had her worries, since it was the Young Master’s decision, she wouldn’t oppose it.
The two sailed on the ocean for a few more days before returning to Hundred Rivers City, as Adam and Cecilia stepped off the deck, they instantly looked up and gazed at each other.
"Those pirates!"
"The people from the Deep Clan!"
The two shouted simultaneously, they both saw the embarrassment in the other’s eyes, they had completely forgotten to bring those pirates and the Deep Clan members back with them.
"Young Master, it’s been so long, they shouldn’t starve to death, right?" Cecilia scratched her head.
"They shouldn’t, they are all cultivators, in such a short time, they shouldn’t starve." Adam shook his head, he wasn’t too worried about that.
What troubled him was that if those pirates and the Deep Clan members weren’t brought back, how was he supposed to squeeze the Deep Clan for everything they were worth?
The Deep Clan was one of the major families in Hundred Rivers City with an incredibly deep foundation.
They could have certainly walked away with pockets overflowing, if he went back now, it would waste several days.
"Forget it. I’ll just undo the shackles on them so they won’t starve, let them stay on the ship, and deal with them when we return!" Adam said, forming a mudra with his hands.
"Young Master, that would take at least a month!" Cecilia’s mouth twitched in surprise.
"That’s why I’m undoing their seals, this way they shouldn’t starve. It’s only a month, time isn’t that long!" Adam laughed.
"Alright!" Cecilia didn’t say anything more, those pirates were none of her concern, her previous comment wasn’t out of pity, just simple surprise.
"Mhm, let’s head down! But this Hundred Rivers City is a bit strange, it used to be bustling and lively, why are there so few people now? I don’t see anyone at the docks!" Adam frowned.
He and Cecilia hadn’t changed their disguises when returning this time.
They were still in their dark, scrawny forms, logically, the Deep Clan should have blocked their way the very first moment they arrived, yet aside from the ships, there were hardly any people at the docks.
This made him feel a tinge of oddity, had the Demon Race already reached this far? That’s impossible.
The Demon Race’s advance couldn’t possibly be that fast.
This was the city on the very edge of the Eastern Continent, if the Demon Race army had reached here, it would mean the entire Eastern Continent had fallen, and that would mean the joint armies of the Heavenly Void Mystic Realm, the Mysterious Yellow Great World, and the Heavenly Court had all been defeated, even Adam didn’t dare imagine such a scenario.
"Yes, Young Master, there are so few people!" Cecilia nodded, she had also sensed something was wrong.
"Let’s go into the city and see!"
Adam frowned and strode forward, and Cecilia immediately followed.
And just when the two weren’t paying attention, four little figures snuck off the Spirit Ship.
"Ava, is this really okay?"
"If we sneak out like this and the Chief and our parents find out, I feel like I won’t live to see tomorrow’s sun."
The two little boys looked at the unfamiliar environment, feeling nervous and afraid.
"Yeah, Ava, let’s just go find the Chief, admit our mistake, and go back to the island!" Another little girl grabbed the pigtailed girl’s hand, her small face filled with worry.
"We’re already out here, what’s the point of saying all that now?" A flash of panic crossed the pigtailed girl’s flushed face, but it was quickly covered up.
"What? If we admit our mistake to the Chief, we won’t be punished?"
"Since we’re going to be punished anyway, why don’t we go have a good time and see the outside world?"
"We’ve already enjoyed ourselves anyway, so even if we get punished, it’s worth it!"
Ava’s logic actually managed to convince the other little ones.
"That actually makes some sense!"
Consequently, the four children decided to secretly explore Hundred Rivers City before going back to admit their faults to the Chief, they knew this might be a dangerous adventure, but it was also a rare opportunity, even if they faced punishment, they felt it was worth it.
