Chapter 109
Two, she was bloodthirsty by nature and willing to offend all four races, and a Demon Ancestor took her down by ambush, with the seal broken, she’d be coming for the demon race.
The continent’s destiny had thinned year after year, so Ancestor Realm experts were rare now, setting aside the Heavenly Demon Alliance hiding in the dark, Soren was the only public one on the continent.
The two of them were going to cross paths, and soon.
If she were Middle-Tier Ancestor Realm, Soren could handle her, Upper-Tier was another conversation.
He didn’t panic.
The Strategy Encyclopedia gave him room to be confident, every person and every object had a strategy for conquering them, Orathis’s sister included.
He looked over the pale-faced, admittedly handsome dragon and asked with a smile, "This sister of yours, is she pretty?"
"Pretty? Of course she’s pretty! My sister is the number one beauty of the whole Heaven-Robbing Black Dragon Clan..." Orathis started off proud.
Then he stopped mid-sentence and stared.
It took him a while, then his jaw came down and he screamed, "Holy crap! Master, what do you mean by that? Don’t tell me you want to pick up my sister?"
"She’s a beauty, that puts her in scope," Soren said, hiding nothing.
"Speaking of which, I care about this quite a bit, has your sister ever liked any other man?"
"Hahaha! Master, you’re joking, that sister of mine kills whatever she sees, a dog walking past would lose its head, she’s never socialized with anyone in her life."
Then he noticed Soren looked deeply satisfied by that answer, and lost it.
"Uh... Master, you’re not serious? Don’t! Don’t do that, it messes up the whole hierarchy!"
"I’m Master’s mount, you get together with my sister, she becomes my Mistress, and then I..."
"...when I see my sister, do I call her Mistress? Or do I call Master Brother-in-law?"
"Ahhhh!" Orathis grabbed his own head.
"I don’t dare offend either of you!"
Then his brain caught up and dropped the trivia.
"Ahem, I strongly advise Master to give up on this unrealistic idea as soon as possible, Master is extraordinary, I admit it, but my sister..."
He didn’t finish, he sucked in a breath of cold air instead, and his tone changed completely.
"Master, let’s stop talking about this, what matters right now is packing our bags and running for our lives."
"You don’t think I can conquer your sister?" Soren asked.
"It’s got nothing to do with conquering! It’s that you and I both end up dead!"
The dragon didn’t look like he was lying, cold sweat was already coming off his forehead, Soren narrowed his eyes.
For Orathis to be this certain I’m no match for her, she must be a genuine monster.
If anything it made him want to meet her sooner.
A powerful woman might conquer the world and every race in it, he’d conquer the powerful woman.
Then again, Orathis had never seen Soren’s demonic techniques and knew nothing about the Six Paths Demonic Form, so his read on Soren’s actual combat strength was probably off.
Even so, shaking that hard and planning an escape before he’d even laid eyes on his own sister? Bit much.
Watching Soren stand there unbothered, Orathis clutched his head and spun in circles on the spot, babbling.
"Oh, heavens! Oh, my Master!"
"I’m begging you, let’s find somewhere to hide! You can’t reason with my sister! She beats me! Viciously!"
"When I was small I must have been an absolute idiot, trailing around behind her all day, it’s a genuine miracle I wasn’t beaten to death."
"Master, let’s get one thing straight, if Master won’t run, then when my sister comes looking, I am NOT showing my face."
"I’ll obey Master in everything else, not this, make me fight my sister and I’d rather Master seal me away again."
The endless chattering wore Soren’s patience out, he waited for Orathis to turn around and put a boot into his rear.
The dragon clutched his backside and flew out of the great hall, shrinking to a speck of light before the horizon took him.
The hall went quiet, so did Soren’s mood.
"Looks like I need Middle-Tier Demon Ancestor sooner rather than later."
Middle-Tier, plus the Six Paths Demonic Form, and it wouldn’t matter how formidable an Upper-Tier Ancestor Realm expert he ran into.
When he got back yesterday he’d looked over the herbs the Ice Heaven Alluring Fox Clan brought in, top-tier stock, all of it, good enough for Emperor-grade pills and spiritual fluids, useless to an Ancestor.
A billion spirit stones could get an Upper-Tier Emperor through to Lower-Tier Ancestor Realm, going from Lower-Tier to Middle-Tier Ancestor ran to ten billion, possibly tens of billions, even Victoria couldn’t cover that.
One top-tier herb could carry the efficacy of hundreds of thousands of spirit stones, sometimes millions, assembling herbs on the scale of tens of billions was a different problem entirely.
While he was chewing on it, something moved in the independent space, Lysara sent word.
Soren released the two of them.
Celeste came out with her brows drawn together, saying nothing, a shade of gloom over that pretty face.
One look and Soren had it.
The Strategy Encyclopedia was never wrong.
It hadn’t listed her among the viable ways to open the Kun-Heaven Box, which meant her odds were low, he’d never expected much.
A shame, given the box tied into the Kunpeng Beast Clan’s secrets and was clearly important, since it wouldn’t open, it went on the shelf for now.
While he was thinking, her eyes had filled up, she looked one blink from bursting into tears.
That face, those eyes, that wronged little expression, even a Lower-Tier Demon Ancestor felt something soften.
Soren reached out and touched her cheek, thumbing the tear tracks away. "The seal was left by an Upper-Tier Ancestor Realm expert, even I couldn’t break it, don’t take it to heart."
Celeste slapped her hand over the big one on her cheek and shook her head. "That’s not it! I already cracked the seal! Look."
She waved a hand and the box floated out, every trace of the sealing fluctuation was gone.
Soren stared at it, then at her. "Then why are you crying?"
"I just checked myself over carefully, even after I used those special methods... I-I still didn’t get pregnant!"
