Chapter 1268 - 1267: Looking Down on Others
Today is Sunday, and the weather is really nice and sunny!
The streets are packed with people; little couples are holding hands, chatting and laughing as they walk along, looking totally blissed out!
Lin Fan took a bus to the department mall, got off, and headed straight for KFC.
KFC was packed. This kind of fast food has already become a way of life and a kind of rhythm for people; no matter where you go, fast food is always what people go for!
Even though KFC was jam‑packed, Lin Fan just swept his gaze around and still spotted Liu Yu in the crowd at a glance.
Liu Yu was sitting by the window. She was wearing a pink dress; now that the weather was warm, it was just the right season for skirts!
Her fair, smooth skin was exposed to the air, white with a rosy glow, looking like it would bruise at the slightest touch!
Her long hair was pinned up and braided into a twist, revealing that delicate, enchanting face and those features that looked like they’d been carved by the gods!
On her feet was a pair of pale pink little leather shoes, making her look tall and graceful; youthful and energetic, yet with a hint of mature goddess vibe!
Because Liu Yu was sitting there alone waiting for Lin Fan, quite a few single guys had gone up to try and hit on her, but they all got turned down by Liu Yu.
Beautiful women are always the center of attention wherever they go. Liu Yu just sat there quietly and already drew a ton of male gazes.
Right then, Liu Yu spotted Lin Fan and hurriedly stood up, waving at him.
And that wave of hers was anything but subtle. All those guys who had a crush on Liu Yu instantly turned their eyes to Lin Fan, wanting to see what kind of man could be worthy of such a gorgeous woman.
"Damn! This guy’s so ugly, he’s not even as good‑looking as me. Seriously, all the good cabbage gets rooted up by pigs!" a man with a face full of acne and a plate‑shaped face muttered with a snicker.
Luckily Lin Fan didn’t hear him, or he would’ve gone over to argue a few rounds. Hell, with that loser look of his, how does he even dare to use the word ’handsome’ on himself?
Very soon, Lin Fan walked up to Liu Yu, sat down, and smiled. "Sorry to keep you waiting!"
"It’s fine, I just got here not long ago too!"
Liu Yu hurriedly replied with a smile, her beautiful eyes curved into slits, the corners lifting like a crescent moon, making her look extremely cute.
Then Liu Yu quickly grabbed the cold drink on the table and handed it to Lin Fan, saying, "I ordered this for you!"
"Thanks!"
Lin Fan thanked her and took the cold drink she passed him.
To be honest, Lin Fan had eaten KFC a few times, but not often, and he didn’t really like this stuff. He didn’t even know what half these things on the menu were!
After taking a sip of the cold drink, Lin Fan asked Liu Yu, "Miss Liu, it’s getting late. Tell me, what’s the plan for dragging me out today?"
"Lots of plans! I’m off shift today, so I set up a whole day’s worth of activities to thank you for helping me out the other day!" Liu Yu said with a smile.
"It really wasn’t a big deal." Lin Fan awkwardly rubbed his nose. Having a great beauty treat him just made him feel a bit guilty.
"It’s fine, this is how it should be! Come on, let’s go upstairs first!"
As Liu Yu spoke, she stood up, took a deep breath, then suddenly grabbed Lin Fan’s hand and headed straight out of KFC.
Lin Fan could only obediently let Liu Yu drag him along, leaving under a wave of envious, jealous, and resentful stares.
After entering the department mall, Liu Yu led Lin Fan to the menswear section. This department mall was the top mall in the area, with very high consumption levels and a full range of international top brands.
"What are you bringing me to the clothing section for?" Lin Fan asked curiously.
Liu Yu gave Lin Fan a strange look, then leaned close to him, sniffed his clothes, and pointed at his shoulder. The hole that had been pierced by the arrow that day was still there.
Lin Fan had only brought this one set of clothes, and he’d been wearing this same outfit these past few days, with basically nothing else to change into.
"Come on, I’m taking you to buy clothes!" Liu Yu said.
"Seriously... no need..."
However, Liu Yu didn’t listen to him at all. She pulled Lin Fan by the hand and casually picked a store to walk into—turns out it was the world‑class brand, Gucci.
"Welcome to—"
The salesgirl saw Lin Fan and Liu Yu walk in and was just about to bow and greet them. But as soon as she took in Liu Yu’s very ordinary outfit, with no visible brand labels and zero sense of luxury, and then smelled the thick nicotine stench lingering on Lin Fan’s clothes, her expression immediately changed.
Damn... are these two here to beg?
Aside from Lin Fan, Liu Yu didn’t notice the contempt in the salesgirl’s eyes.
Liu Yu pulled Lin Fan over to the suits section. Looking at the suits in front of her—whether it was the style, cut, or design, all of them were high‑class—she smiled at Lin Fan and said, "See anything you like? I’ll buy it for you!"
Lin Fan awkwardly rubbed his nose. Gucci was a top brand; every set cost tens of thousands, and Liu Yu was just an ordinary nurse. Her annual salary was probably only enough for one Gucci suit!
"How about... we go somewhere else?" Lin Fan said.
"These suits look really handsome, why go somewhere else?"
Liu Yu said, totally clueless.
Because of her special background, she didn’t have many friends around here and rarely went out shopping. She’d heard of Gucci, but had no idea how much their clothes cost.
Just as Liu Yu was about to reach out and touch one of the suits, the salesgirl suddenly stepped up to stop her. "Miss, if you’re not buying, please don’t touch."
As she spoke, the salesgirl even tilted her chin in a snobby way, looking like she was begging to be slapped.
Seeing this, Lin Fan’s brows immediately furrowed.
He noticed that there was also a well‑dressed couple in the store browsing the clothes. They’d touch the suits from time to time, but this salesgirl had said nothing to them—yet now she was telling Liu Yu not to touch.
Liu Yu blinked her big, confused eyes and asked curiously, "Why can’t I touch them?"
"Miss, we’re a high‑end brand. Are you buying or not? If you’re not, then don’t touch. What if you get our products dirty?" the salesgirl snapped disdainfully, loud enough for everyone to hear.
This little scene instantly drew the attention of the people around them.
Another clerk walked over, asking, "What’s going on?"
"Hmph! Just a pair of poor losers!"
The salesgirl put her hands on her hips, acting like she owned the place.
The other clerk caught on immediately and said to Lin Fan and Liu Yu, "If you’re not buying anything, please leave. We’re a high‑end brand."
