Chapter 410: The Price of Treasures
The Price of Treasures
Leon blinked.
Then his shoulders relaxed.
"Yes, comfortable!"
He was genuinely surprised.
As expected, rich people knew how to enjoy life.
Even a chair was this comfortable.
The cushion supported his back without being too soft, while the armrests were polished smooth enough that his fingers naturally rested against them.
Leon leaned back for a moment.
He had read countless novels in his previous life. Auction houses were practically a standard location in those stories.
Usually, some protagonist would enter an auction and somehow discover an incredible treasure that everyone else had overlooked.
Then someone would provoke him.
Then someone powerful would appear.
Then the protagonist would calmly slap the arrogant young master in the face with money.
And somehow, before the auction ended, half the city’s powerful households would have become enemies.
Leon had always found that sequence amusing.
But now that he was actually sitting inside an auction house, he suddenly realized something.
His situation was a little different.
He was probably the person everyone else should be careful about offending.
The thought made the corners of his mouth twitch.
His gaze briefly moved toward Selena and Rias.
Both girls stood quietly behind him.
Leon glanced back at the chair.
His fingers slowly traced the smooth handle.
Looking more carefully, he realized that the armchair had been designed with considerable attention to detail. Its broad structure could easily accommodate two people without making either uncomfortable.
Leon raised an eyebrow.
"Haha, interesting! They’re indeed quite particular about this..."
There was amusement in his voice.
He had no intention of reading too much into it.
The Treasure Pavilion clearly understood the habits of wealthy cultivators. Everything in this place had been designed for comfort, privacy, and convenience.
Even the furniture reflected that philosophy.
Leon gave the chair another thoughtful look before slowly standing.
His expression became serious again.
The brief amusement disappeared as quickly as it had come.
He had not come here to spend the entire day admiring furniture.
There were still things he needed to do.
He turned toward Cavir.
"Alright, quickly take inventory and arrange for the auction immediately. I’m in a hurry. I might be able to make it in time to go to the Sky Breaker Academy and destroy an academy."
Leon said it so casually that, for a moment, the entire private room seemed to fall silent.
His voice carried no killing intent.
There was no anger in his expression.
He simply sounded like a man discussing an ordinary errand he needed to finish before sunset.
That was precisely what made the words terrifying.
Cavir Walton stood opposite him.
The grey-haired man’s respectful expression froze.
His black eyes widened slightly.
Then—
"F*ck!"
The exclamation escaped before he could stop himself.
Cavir immediately realized what he had said and hurriedly composed himself. His throat moved as he swallowed.
Damn it.
This was the first time in his entire life that he had heard someone speak so lightly about destroying an entire academy.
Not challenging one expert.
Not defeating one powerful elder.
Not even raiding a household.
Destroying an academy.
And Leon had said it as though he were talking about removing an inconvenient stone from the road.
Cavir’s palms began to sweat.
He forced himself to breathe normally.
Do you think I’m scared?
Would I be frightened?
Of course I’m frightened!
His heart practically screamed the answer.
Yet he did not dare show too much of it.
After all, the man standing before him was not someone he could afford to offend.
"Phew..."
Cavir slowly inhaled.
Then he exhaled through his nose.
The breath did little to calm him.
Instead, a cold sensation crawled down his spine.
Standing directly in front of Leon, he could feel his own heartbeat becoming heavier.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
He had encountered countless powerful cultivators throughout his life. He had seen arrogant young geniuses, ruthless elders, wandering experts, and even figures who could shake an entire region with a single command.
But Leon was different.
There was something strangely calm about him.
That calmness made his words even more frightening.
Cavir did not doubt Leon’s statement at all.
Not even for a moment.
He had already heard about the conflict between the Celestis Academy and the Sky Breaker Academy.
The situation had been spreading through the cultivation world.
News traveled quickly among powerful sects.
Everyone knew that Mike had already gathered a large group of experts and was heading toward the entrance of the Sky Breaker Academy.
The tension surrounding that place was already like a drawn bowstring.
One wrong movement could cause everything to explode.
And now Leon casually wanted to go there and destroy an academy.
Cavir’s eyelids twitched.
Forget it.
I can’t afford to offend him.
The best thing I can do is entertain him properly.
Make him comfortable.
Let him leave peacefully.
Once he leaves, everyone will be fine.
That was the only thought keeping Cavir sane.
He immediately lowered his head slightly.
"Alright, I’ll take inventory immediately."
His voice remained respectful, though his legs trembled faintly beneath his robes.
Damn it.
For most of his life, he had considered himself someone who had seen almost everything.
He had dealt with powerful cultivators.
He had handled priceless treasures.
He had witnessed bloody conflicts between major factions.
But he had never encountered someone who could casually discuss destroying a powerful academy while looking completely relaxed.
Leon merely nodded.
He did not seem to notice Cavir’s inner turmoil.
Or perhaps he noticed it and simply did not care.
To Leon, the matter was straightforward.
He needed money.
He had treasures.
The Treasure Pavilion had an auction.
So he would sell them.
As for the Sky Breaker Academy...
That was another matter entirely.
Leon turned his attention toward the storage treasure he had handed over earlier.
Cavir immediately understood.
He took the storage treasure with both hands.
The moment he opened it, his expression changed.
At first, he was merely curious.
Then his eyes widened.
