Chapter 397: The Heaven Cleaver Dagger
The Heaven Cleaver Dagger
Then he looked toward Rias.
She seemed to understand what he was thinking.
"Teacher..."
Her voice was soft.
Leon did not immediately respond.
He simply held the dagger in his hand and considered it carefully.
Rias already had the bell.
But the bell was primarily a supplementary Dharma artifact.
It was useful.
Very useful, in fact.
Yet Rias still lacked a weapon capable of giving her a direct offensive advantage.
Selena was different.
She already possessed the Red Abyss Sword.
She also had the Amethyst Mist Sword.
Her foundation in swordsmanship was becoming increasingly complete.
Rias needed something of her own.
Something that matched the way she fought.
The Heaven Cleaver Dagger was exactly that kind of weapon.
After thinking for a moment, Leon finally made his decision.
"Rias, you don’t have any treasure yet. I’ll give you this dagger."
As he spoke, Leon extended his hand.
The dagger rested quietly across his palm.
Rias froze.
For a moment, she simply stared at it.
She could feel the killing intent coming from the weapon even without touching it.
It was shocking.
The moment her spiritual sense brushed against it, she felt as though an invisible blade had passed across her skin.
Her expression became solemn.
This was no ordinary weapon.
Judging from its grade alone, it was a supreme-grade spirit artifact.
And its true lethality was comparable to a Martial Emperor artifact.
Rias instinctively took half a step back.
"This... Teacher, I..."
She did not know what to say.
The words became stuck in her throat.
She had already received the bell.
That was enough.
She knew very well how precious treasures were.
And now Leon was giving her another one.
A weapon of this level.
How could she casually accept it?
But before she could finish speaking, Leon interrupted her.
"Alright, accept it! There’s no need to say anything else. I naturally have my reasons for giving you this weapon. Your senior sister already has the Red Abyss Sword and Amethyst Mist Sword. Only you don’t have a suitable weapon.
"Although you are my second student, in my heart, you are as important as your senior sister. How can I treat you badly? Take this dagger."
The room fell silent.
Rias stared at Leon.
For a moment, she did not move.
The sunlight outside continued to pour through the window.
A gentle breeze slipped through the open doorway, lifting a few strands of her long red hair.
But Rias seemed completely unaware of it.
Her fingers slowly curled.
Her eyes became slightly red.
She had heard those words before.
Leon had always treated her well.
But there was a difference between knowing it and hearing him say it aloud.
Although she was his second student, he had never treated her as someone who came second.
Not once.
Whenever Selena received something, Rias had never felt neglected.
Whenever Rias needed something, Leon had never hesitated to provide it.
He had always maintained that balance without making either of them feel inferior.
And now, when he saw that she lacked a weapon, he had simply taken out something this precious and handed it to her.
There was no bargaining.
No hesitation.
No reluctant expression.
He simply gave it to her.
Because he was her Teacher.
Because she was his student.
Rias lowered her eyes.
Her red hair fell gently beside her face.
She tried to suppress the emotions rising inside her chest, but the effort only made her breathing slightly unsteady.
Selena noticed this.
She smiled softly.
There was no jealousy in her eyes.
Instead, she understood exactly what Leon was trying to do.
She stepped closer to Rias and gently touched her shoulder.
"Take it."
Rias looked at her senior sister.
Selena gave her a small nod.
"You need a weapon too."
Those simple words finally broke the last resistance in Rias’s heart.
She slowly reached out.
Her fingertips touched the Heaven Cleaver Dagger.
A cold sensation immediately traveled through her hand.
The weapon trembled faintly.
Then, as if recognizing its new master, the terrifying killing intent gradually settled.
Rias’s eyes widened.
She could feel a faint connection forming between herself and the dagger.
It was almost as though the weapon had been waiting for someone capable of controlling it.
She carefully took it from Leon.
Her hands were steady now.
"Thank you, Teacher."
Her voice was quiet.
But there was a sincerity in it that needed no explanation.
Leon smiled.
He did not say anything else.
To him, giving his students treasures was never something worth making a big deal about.
They were his students.
If he had something useful, naturally he would give it to them.
As for whether they could repay him someday...
That was never what he cared about.
What he wanted was to see them become stronger.
To see them walk farther.
To see them stand proudly beneath the heavens without needing anyone to shelter them.
That was enough.
Rias carefully stored the Heaven Cleaver Dagger.
The moment the dagger disappeared into her storage treasure, the oppressive killing intent in the room vanished.
Everything returned to normal.
Leon looked at his two students.
One stood with the Red Abyss Sword.
The other now possessed the Heaven Cleaver Dagger.
For some reason, he suddenly felt that his efforts had not been wasted.
His students were no longer the inexperienced girls who had first followed him into the mountains.
They had begun to develop their own strength.
Their own weapons.
Their own paths.
And one day, perhaps, they would no longer need him to stand in front of them.
But until that day came...
Leon would continue walking ahead.
And whenever they stumbled, he would still be there to pull them back onto their feet.
