Chapter 790: The Terrifyingly Unhuman Jiang Ran
"Hey, do you have any idea what that guy down there is yapping about?"
By the pit's edge, a shadowy figure asked another.
The other figure shook his head in confusion.
"Who knows, maybe he's gone mad from his impending death!"
"That's what I'm thinking. I mean, if I were in his shoes, about to be drowned alive in cement, I'd go crazy too."
A third figure chimed in.
Inside the pit.
A faint smile curled at the corners of Jiang Ran's lips as he slowly moved to the pit wall.
He pressed his right hand against the earthen wall.
A soft smile, a murmured whisper: "Foreigners, after all—different cultures, hard to communicate. Better just go up there and teach you this lesson!"
After he spoke these words.
His right hand, which had been caressing the wall, flattened against it, followed by his left hand doing the same.
The shadowy figures above naturally noticed Jiang Ran's unusual movements below, but seeing him apparently trying to climb out, they all burst into loud jeers and mockery.
At the bottom of the pit, Jiang Ran remained silent.
After taking a deep breath, he opened his eyes.
And then, in the next move.
He began scaling the pit wall like Spider-Man.
One meter, two meters, three meters, four meters...
As he climbed, his figure grew farther from the pit's bottom and closer to the escape above.
And when they saw Jiang Ran climbing up like Spider-Man, the shadowy figures by the pit were momentarily stunned—their eyes wide as brass bells, mouths agape, bodies trembling all over.
They had expected to watch Jiang Ran's desperate struggle, his repeated attempts followed by repeated falls back into the pit—a hilarious farce.
What was happening now? He was almost at the top?
"Shit, am I seeing things? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?"
One figure rubbed his eyes furiously, then opened them again to look at Jiang Ran, only to find he had already reached seven meters up.
This eerie Jiang Ran, like a gecko crawling up a wall, clung firmly to the pit wall without any sign of falling, completely defying basic human logic.
To put it simply, the Jiang Ran currently scaling the wall didn't even seem human—could a normal person climb out like this?
"Knock him down, now!"
A figure roared.
Then, that figure rushed over to Jiang Ran's position, swung a wrench in his hand, and aimed downward, from top to bottom.
But Jiang Ran's wall-climbing was utterly unpredictable.
When the figure was directly above him, Jiang Ran's climbing speed suddenly surged as he veered diagonally upward. Before the figure could react, Jiang Ran was already up, standing at the pit's edge.
"Fuck!"
The figure holding the wrench felt like he'd seen a ghost, charging at Jiang Ran with a furious swing.
Jiang Ran, seeing the aggressor coming at him with such force, merely smiled faintly.
As the wrench-wielding figure closed in, Jiang Ran whipped out a left leg strike, landing a direct hit to the man's neck, kicking him straight into the large pit.
By now, the cement in the pit had already submerged the sports car's four tires, so when the wrench-wielding figure fell, he barely survived a near-fatal crash.
Then, he almost got swallowed whole by the cement, sinking straight down.
The wrench-wielding figure struggled to crawl up from the cement-filled pit, now covered head to toe in the stuff, face included. As he climbed, he shouted upward.
"Someone get me out of here! Hurry, drop the rope!"
But he shouldn't have yelled—because every time he did, another shadowy figure fell from above.
Counting him, there were five figures in total—meaning all the figures who had been by the pit were now down there.
The wrench-wielding figure, seeing his four incompetent comrades, exploded with rage.
"What the hell happened to you guys?"
The third one to fall also struggled to his feet.
He said, "That Hua Country guy named Jiang Ran knocked us down, of course. You think I jumped in myself?"
The wrench-wielding figure laughed in disbelief.
"Are you idiots? There were four of you—four people couldn't even take down one Jiang Ran?"
The fifth figure spoke with a bitter tone.
"Forget it. We tried to gang up on him, but that guy seems to know Hua Country martial arts... We were like helpless little lambs in front of him."
The wrench-wielding figure was instantly speechless, stunned.
But he felt the cement below him rising higher and higher.
Without time to think, he pulled out his phone, intending to call for rescue.
Above the pit.
After Jiang Ran came up, he sent all the figures by the pit tumbling down. Once they were dealt with, he walked over to the cement truck. He certainly wasn't kind enough to stop the flow—instead, he checked if there was anyone else on the truck, making sure not to leave a single escapee.
After inspecting the truck, he let out a sigh of relief. It seemed there was no one else. Of course, he hadn't forgotten his "friend"—Manager Xiao Zhang.
"Oh, wait. More accurately, Manager Xiao Zhang isn't my friend—he's his."
Jiang Ran muttered to himself.
Then, he returned to the pit's edge and began surveying the abandoned steel mill.
He spotted a nearby factory building with its lights on, while the rest of the area seemed empty. So, he headed toward the lit building.
After walking over two hundred meters, he grew closer to the factory. The building's main door was wide open, spilling the interior light outside.
Jiang Ran didn't waste time sneaking a peek at what was inside—instead, he walked straight in without hesitation.
When he entered, he found the factory mostly empty. Most of the equipment and items had been moved out, leaving only a pile of trash behind.
The light inside came from a large lamp at the very top of the factory.
Its yellowish glow illuminated the entire interior.
Despite that, it couldn't hide the fact that this steel mill was abandoned—much like the yellowish light, it represented the decay of autumn.
Jiang Ran stood at the factory entrance and saw, not far away, four or five people standing around.
Men and women mixed.
That group seemed to be casually chatting about something, relaxed and cheerful.
"So easy. I thought getting rid of Jiang Ran would be tough, but it turned out to be this simple. Though, it's a shame we didn't get to torture him—drowning him in cement was too merciful."
"He was too arrogant, coming alone in his car. Who else would end up dead but him?"
"Looks like he's the type with a strong body but a simple mind—tough to beat physically, but his brain sure doesn't work well."
"Now there are only two lab rats left."
"No need to worry about Huo Yun. It's just Juliet left. How about we drive over to her place later and take care of her too?"
