Chapter 769: Lucas: Let Me Tell You a Secret, This Hotel Is Haunted

After entering, A and Y saw Lucas wearing a mask. They wanted him to take it off, to see who this person was and what he looked like. A mask creates a sense of distance and unease between people.

But before they could even bring it up, Lucas had already removed the mask. After pulling it off, he flashed A and Y a wide, beaming smile.

That smile left A and Y completely stunned. The reason was simple—they never expected this cleaner to be so handsome. He was like night and day compared to the cleaners who had come to tidy up before.

"My god, are all cleaners this good-looking now?" (All three were speaking in English.)

A covered her mouth with both hands in sheer astonishment.

"Not really. I'm just average-looking."

Lucas was quite modest about it.

A shook her head. "No, no, no. You're way better-looking than plenty of white male celebrities. Hey? I'm really curious—with a face like yours, why are you working as a cleaner? You could totally go on a talent show! You could be a male celebrity!"

"A male celebrity? Forget it. I can't act, and I can't sing. And if I got into the entertainment industry, it's not like they're short on handsome men and beautiful women. They wouldn't miss me. More importantly, if someone like me with no connections goes in, don't I have to accept under-the-table dealings to get resources? Either I take orders from a sugar daddy or a sugar mommy. No thanks, no thanks."

As Lucas spoke, he started opening the housekeeping cart and pulling out tools.

A said, "You've got a point. The entertainment industry is full of handsome men and beautiful women, and more importantly, it's way too hard for ordinary people to break in. But you're handsome enough—even if you don't become a celebrity, you could become a male influencer. Post some videos, and with that face, you'd definitely attract plenty of female fans."

Lucas replied, "I did post a lot on TikTok, and on other apps too. Way too many people reached out wanting to date or hook up. I got sick of it. So I stopped."

Hearing this, A couldn't help but think of the deceased S.

That guy was always chasing women, either sleeping with them or on his way to sleeping with them.

It was like that was his only purpose in life.

But looking at this guy in front of her—so handsome and so different from S.

S had to spend money and go through hell and high water.

But this gorgeous man had women throwing themselves at him.

And yet, he had seen through it all.

A shuddered to think—if S had this man's looks, he'd probably have worn himself out dead between some woman's thighs.

A briefly shared her thoughts with Y.

Y said, "People go crazy for what they can't have. Once they get it, it's just meh. Maybe if S had this face, he would have seen through women too."

By now, Lucas had pulled out his tools from the housekeeping cart and started cleaning the entire hotel room.

He noticed the room wasn't that messy—just a lot of instant noodle cups, snack wrappers, and drink bottle garbage scattered around.

As Lucas began cleaning, A and Y went back to gaming.

Of course, while playing, Y frequently observed Lucas whenever his game character was dead.

Lucas cleaned for half an hour, leaving the room spotless, and then announced he was done.

A and Y took a quick look at how clean the room was and found that this handsome guy had done a much better job than the cleaners from the previous days.

So, instead of their usual 1-euro or 2-euro coin tip, they wisely handed Lucas a 5-euro bill.

That was already a generous tip.

Lucas took the money and was about to thank them and leave, but just before he left, he suddenly looked like he wanted to say something but hesitated.

A noticed his expression and asked what was wrong.

Lucas stammered, "Since you're being so generous, there's a truth about this hotel I want to tell you."

A: "What truth?"

Lucas suddenly looked uneasy, glancing left and right, then turning back to check if the door was closed properly.

Only then did he speak in a low voice, as if afraid of being overheard by outsiders: "This 25 Hours Hotel is haunted. Strange things happen here all the time. So, I suggest you switch to another hotel if you can."

Even though his voice was soft, both A and Y heard him clearly.

A was stunned for a moment, then looked around the room. "But... we've been staying here for days and haven't run into anything weird?"

Lucas said, "Basically, everyone who stays here encounters it. It's just that if you stay for a short time, you might get lucky and not see it. Those who stay longer always do."

He looked serious.

"Normally, I don't warn guests, but since you were so generous and gave me such a big tip, I felt I should tell you."

"Oh, right, and don't tell anyone, especially not other employees or the boss, that I said this. Otherwise, I could get fired!!!"

Lucas spoke with all the sincerity in the world.

A was still in shock.

Y frowned. "Since you say it's haunted here with paranormal events, have you ever encountered any?"

Lucas nodded. "I have."

Y pressed further. "Since you have, aren't you scared? Why do you still work here?"

Lucas let out a deep sigh. "Ah... My situation is just like those people who work in cemeteries."

With that, he waved at them. "Anyway, I hope you don't run into those creepy things."

Then he pushed his housekeeping cart and left the room.

After Lucas left, the room fell silent, with only the sounds of game noises coming from the two laptops.

Gunfire and explosions rang out.

A and Y exchanged glances. A said, "Do you think he was telling the truth? Should we switch to another hotel?"

Y was dismissive. "Let's wait until we actually run into the so-called ghost or paranormal event he mentioned."

A shook his head and went back to gaming.

The two of them played, frantically clicking their mice and keyboards, for about ten more minutes.

Then, a sudden knock on the door rang out sharply.

A had just finished his round and was waiting for the matchmaking.

So he went to open the door.

The 25 Hours Hotel they were staying at had no peephole, but the door had a security chain inside.

So he opened the door, leaving it slightly ajar to see who was outside, and only by taking off the chain could the door be fully opened.

But when he peered through the crack, he saw no one at the door.

"Hey! Who knocked? Don't play this kind of joke! It's not funny at all!!!"

A spoke louder again, but there was still silence outside the door.
