Chapter 1694 - 102: Reunion with the Martial Saint, and a Conversation
In front of the Royal Capital.
The city wall towered, stretching across like a dragon.
Jiang Ning glanced at the city wall ahead, then turned and left.
Just before the Martial Saint left, he had asked him to come by for a visit, which he had not forgotten.
The next moment.
Like a fleeting shadow, he crossed mountains and rivers, arriving instantly at the peak of a mountain that stood like a Divine Sword.
Looking up, he could sense the entrance to the Grotto Heaven high above.
That entrance presented itself clearly to his eyes.
He was confident that if he wished, without anyone’s permission, he could break into this Cave Heaven Blessed Land.
A thought flashed through his mind, and he instantly thought of the Martial Saint.
Given his current ability to achieve such a feat, there was no doubt the Martial Saint could do even more.
As for the Martial Saint’s prowess, it had once been beyond his understanding due to his own weakness.
Furthermore, the Martial Saint had few documented achievements, so there was no concrete knowledge.
But this time was different.
With just a spirit body, he had slain a Jiao Dragon with nearly five thousand years of Dao cultivation in one move.
Facing the ruler of the Demon Country, hailed as the Demon Emperor, he defeated him with just three punches.
From these two decisive battles, he could imagine the strength of the Martial Saint; it was a power incomprehensible to Martial Artists globally.
Yet even so, with such strength, the Martial Saint had not leveled the so-called Cave Heaven Blessed Lands.
A multitude of thoughts flashed through his mind, and Jiang Ning’s heart involuntarily sank.
The more he understood, the more he felt the overwhelming power of the remnants from ancient times, the Cave Heaven Blessed Lands.
Just then.
A voice echoed in his ear.
"You’ve come, then come in!"
As the voice resounded, the void shook, and the world was turned upside down, with time and space transforming.
The next moment.
He found himself already inside the Martial Saint’s Grotto Heaven, with a familiar thatched hut ahead.
He pushed open the half-closed wooden door, and before him sat an elder by a stone table, eyes slightly closed.
"You’ve arrived!" The elder’s calm voice reached Jiang Ning’s ears.
"Greetings, senior!" Jiang Ning cupped his hands in salute: "Thank you for your kindness, senior."
"There has always been a karmic bond between us!" The elder slowly opened his eyes, their gaze cloudy, devoid of expression, his entire being exuding the aura of twilight, as if his days were numbered.
"Senior, you are..." Jiang Ning paused, surprised by the elder’s open eyes.
"Are you wondering why I’m in such poor condition?" The elder stood up from the stone stool.
Jiang Ning nodded.
"In my current state, how could defeating the Demon Emperor with just three punches come without cost!" The elder gave a self-mocking smile.
Raising a hand, firewood materialized in front of him, and the elder began stacking them neatly together.
With a gentle touch of his finger, a wisp of flame ignited, setting the firewood ablaze, and the fire started to rise rapidly.
"That battle seemed easy, but it actually depleted the Origin energy I’ve accumulated over time. The Demon Emperor...isn’t so easy to deal with, I was mostly bluffing."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ning’s heart shook.
"Senior, is your physical condition really so poor?"
The elder nodded, a faint mocking smile pulling at the corner of his mouth.
"If it were in the past, if he dared to scheme like that, I would have blown apart his Demon Emperor body entirely, rather than let him provoke me like this!"
As he spoke, a bloody piece of meat appeared in the elder’s hand, though Jiang Ning didn’t know when.
Feeling the aura from the meat, Jiang Ning immediately understood; this was the recently slain dragon meat.
"Sit down! Join me in trying this delicacy. As the saying goes, donkey meat on the ground, dragon head in the sky; this dragon meat is a treasure! Not only is it exquisite in taste, but it also strengthens the body."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ning stepped forward, sitting directly on the ground like the elder.
He then accepted a piece of dragon meat that the elder had already skewered and placed it over the flame to roast.
"Senior, what level of strength does the Demon Emperor truly possess?" Jiang Ning asked.
The elder glanced at him, then shook his head.
"Knowing this at your current stage is meaningless; your Divine Power has not yet spread throughout your body. The gap cannot be measured by rationale, and knowing will only cause unnecessary worry. Such individuals now wouldn’t even consider you in their eyes."
Hearing this, Jiang Ning felt helpless.
He knew that the elder in front of him was an esteemed Martial Saint, capable of discerning his Martial Arts Realm, aware that he had not yet achieved Unity Realm Great Success.
Regarding the elder’s assessment, he couldn’t say much.
He couldn’t claim that his full potential was much more than it appeared, not to be measured as an ordinary Martial Artist!
He couldn’t possibly reveal all his trump cards, right?
He wasn’t that foolish.
"What you say is true, senior!" Jiang Ning acknowledged, beginning to turn the dragon meat in his hand.
Because he discovered the flame before him seemed ordinary but was, in fact, extraordinary. Only moments later, the dragon meat gradually turned golden, sizzling with oil.
A faint aroma of meat now permeated the path.
He gazed at the leaping flames ahead and spoke again: "Is there anything I can do about your current state, senior?"
"You?" The elder glanced at Jiang Ning, then shook his head: "Your intentions are good, but in your current state, you can’t help! The only thing you should do is to improve your strength quickly, to catch up with my pace."
Then, he looked into the distance, his pupils reflecting the landscape of mountains and rivers.
"I don’t know if this world can still be saved!"
Jiang Ning said, "Senior, you are concerned with this world?"
"This world was ultimately built by me, how could I not care!" the elder said.
"Then why, senior, if you care so, do you allow this world to fall into chaos gradually?" Jiang Ning asked.
"Are you referring to the Yellow Heaven Sect, or those Cave Heaven Blessed Lands hidden in the shadows?" the elder replied, turning over the dragon meat dripping with oil in his hand.
