Chapter 563 - 547: Crushing (Part 2)
He had once used the power of a Divine Spirit in his battle against Basam, the Demon God’s Apostle.
Li Wei also possessed the power of High Level Rules.
The High Level Flame Rules.
WHOOSH! CRACKLE!
The Corrupt Spider Web was ignited by the flames, quickly burning to nothing.
Niezha looked utterly shocked.
’How is this possible?’
The Corrupt Spider Web could cause anything it touched to decay.
Even flames would be converted into a corrupting fire.
Ordinary flames couldn’t ignite the Corrupt Spider Web.
The burning of the Corrupt Spider Web was, in essence, a clash between the powers of two High Level Rules.
It was a clash between the "Combustion" of Li Wei’s High Level Flame Rules and the "Corruption" Rule of the Corrupt Spider Web.
As both were High Level Rules, "Combustion" and "Corruption" didn’t have a direct counter-relationship.
When the two forces collided, it became purely a contest of strength.
Clearly, Niezha had lost.
He’d been defeated without being able to put up any resistance.
Li Wei’s foundation was far deeper than his.
Moreover, Niezha hadn’t truly mastered the Rule of Corruption; he was merely borrowing the Power of Rules wielded by a Divine Spirit.
As the two powers of the Rules clashed, he could do nothing.
He could only watch helplessly as the Rule of Corruption was defeated.
Li Wei, however, was different. He had mastered the High Level Flame Rules.
When the two powers of the Rules clashed, he could adapt his offensive, altering the Flame Rule’s attack pattern to counter the characteristics revealed by the Rule of Corruption.
This allowed him to gain an even greater advantage.
His initial swift and explosive attack broke through the Corrupt Spider Web’s defenses, then transformed into a sustained burn that continuously drained Niezha’s power.
Niezha felt the Dark Power within him rapidly weakening.
The Corrupt Spider Web had also been completely incinerated.
"It’s over."
Faced with such an absolute gap in power, it was useless, even with the power Niezha had received from the Evil Goddess Rose.
Li Wei suppressed him in the blink of an eye.
BAM!
A massive blue hand seized Niezha and tossed him onto the cliff beside the three Zor Elves.
Li Wei descended slowly, with Laya in tow.
All four of them were so suppressed by the Holy Flame Domain that they couldn’t muster even a shred of power.
Seeing this, the Earth Elf, Tina, quickly summoned a Rock Guard.
The Rock Guard lifted her onto its shoulder and climbed up the cliff.
Tina glanced at Li Wei, her expression growing grave as she stared at the dark-skinned Zor Elves lying on the ground.
"Why are Zor Elves here?"
Tina asked, bewildered.
The recent life-or-death crisis had snapped Laya back to her senses.
She glanced at Niezha, no longer clinging to any false hope.
Laya said, "Niezha is from the Green Tree Territory. I will get to the bottom of this."
Tina looked at her and said gravely, "This isn’t just a matter for the Green Tree Territory. The safety of the entire Elf Forest is at stake."
Laya fell silent for a moment before nodding. "Alright, I understand."
She took out a Spirit Communication Flower and used it to report what had happened to Delvin, who was far away in the Green Tree Territory.
Paired Spirit Communication Flowers could transmit sound.
Spirit Communication Flowers usually grew in pairs; only a rare few could produce more than three blossoms.
"My Lord..."
Delvin listened to Laya’s report in silence, not saying a word.
After hearing everything, he remained silent for a long time before finally saying, "I understand."
After a brief pause, Delvin asked, "Is Niezha there?"
Laya heard him and replied, "He’s here."
She then placed the Spirit Communication Flower next to Niezha’s ear.
Niezha glanced at the Spirit Communication Flower but remained silent.
Delvin seemed to realize who was on the other end of the Spirit Communication Flower.
"If you have truly betrayed the Mother Tree, I will execute you with my own hands."
Delvin said calmly.
It was hard to imagine the pain he must be feeling.
On one hand was his own brother; on the other, the inviolable faith of the Elf Race.
Niezha heard this and scoffed coldly.
"Heh heh..."
Niezha had no intention of speaking, and Delvin didn’t press him further.
He said to Laya, "Please give the Spirit Communication Flower to Grand Mage Li Wei."
Laya handed the white Spirit Communication Flower to Li Wei.
Li Wei took the flower and said, "Lord Delvin, this is Li Wei."
"Grand Mage Li Wei, I am truly sorry for what has happened."
Delvin began by apologizing to Li Wei, humbling himself.
After all, he still had a favor to ask of Li Wei.
Li Wei said calmly, "There’s no need for that, My Lord."
"He is his own person. His actions have nothing to do with you."
Delvin said, "Regardless, he is still my brother."
"I have a difficult favor to ask. I implore you, Grand Mage Li Wei, to spare Niezha’s life and hand him over to the Elf Race for us to handle."
"As compensation, I will offer a suitable treasure to you, Grand Mage Li Wei."
Li Wei glanced around. Both Laya and Tina were looking at him.
’If no one else were here, Niezha would already be dead.’
’I wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of capturing him alive.’
’I would’ve just burned him to ash.’
’Still, this is the Elf Forest, the territory of the Elf Race. I don’t want to make enemies of them.’
’Besides, Delvin has already humbled himself and promised compensation.’
So, Li Wei decided to agree.
"Alright."
Delvin breathed a small sigh of relief. "Then I’ll have to trouble you, Grand Mage Li Wei. Please take them to Yellowstone Territory and hand them over to the elves there. I will travel to Yellowstone Territory shortly to handle this matter."
Li Wei looked at Tina, the Earth Elf from Yellowstone Territory.
’Yellowstone Territory will have to agree to this as well.’
Tina understood Li Wei’s unspoken question and quickly said, "No problem. Investigating why the Zor Elves have appeared in the Elf Forest and maintaining peace here is the shared duty of all elves."
Delvin, on the other end of the Spirit Communication Flower, was slightly taken aback when he heard Tina’s voice.
He recognized her voice.
"Tina is there as well? Then I’ll be counting on you," Delvin said.
Tina quickly replied, "Of course, Green Tree Lord."
Laya was a little surprised. She hadn’t expected Delvin to know Tina.
He’d been able to recognize her voice just by hearing it through the Spirit Communication Flower.
That meant their relationship was not a casual one.
After agreeing to Delvin’s request to take Niezha and the three Zor Elves to Yellowstone Territory, Li Wei and Laya arrived swiftly with the help of the Earth Elf, Tina.
Emerging from the canyon, they saw a stone city built into the side of a mountain.
Yellowstone Territory was indeed very different from the other elven territories.
This was mainly because the elves of Yellowstone Territory belonged to the Earth Elf Race.
The Earth Elves also revered the concept of respecting nature.
However, in their eyes, Mother Earth was an existence on the same level as the World Tree.
The Rock Guard carried Niezha and the Zor Elves into Yellowstone Territory.
This drew the attention of many onlookers, who stopped to stare.
Tina visibly relaxed upon returning to Yellowstone Territory.
She looked at Li Wei and Laya. "It’s getting late," she said. "How about you rest here in Yellowstone Territory for the night and set out for the Elf Imperial Court tomorrow?"
Laya said nothing, but Li Wei nodded. "Yes, that sounds good."
Tina smiled. "Then let me show you to your quarters."
After settling Li Wei and Laya in, Tina departed with the Rock Guard, Niezha, and the other captives.
She still had to find the lord of Yellowstone Territory and report the situation.
The appearance of Zor Elves in the Elf Forest was a major event that would likely need to be reported to the Elf Imperial Court.
’I probably won’t be getting any sleep tonight.’
Tina sighed at the thought.
"Sigh..."
One of the Zor Elves being carried by the Rock Guard moved a finger slightly, and Dark Power began to gather at its tip.
Without turning her head, Tina said, "Behave. Don’t make trouble for me."
PUFF!
The Dark Power that had just gathered on the Zor Elf’s fingertip dissipated into nothing.
"To be safe, I should probably place some restraints on you."
KRAK KRAK KRAK!
A layer of grayish-white rock appeared on the four captives. It spread rapidly, covering their entire bodies in the blink of an eye.
In an instant, all four had been turned into stone statues.
Petrification Magic.
But this was different from ordinary Petrification Magic.
Not only were the four still alive within the stone, but the petrification could also be reversed.
This was no longer on the level of ordinary Magic.
This was... the Power of Rules.
